Chasing Adventures with Terhi – Video Tutorial

Hello Pebbles Fans!
It’s Terhi here with my first scrapbook layout using the wonderful Chasing Adventures collection. The Chasing Adventures is designed by Jen Hadfield, and I must say it is definitely my most favorite from her so far.
The rich colors and billions of flowers makes scrapbooking even easier than before, and my head is full of ideas!

This scrapbook layout is inspired by all the flowers and blooms I spied from the collection. I enjoyed fussy cutting most of them, but also used the ephemera pack to fill the page.

There are several ways to add title to match to a layout like this, all those thickers, stickers, wood veneer shapes and other, but still I wanted to cut out a piece of patterned paper to be my title. “Happy girls are the prettiest” just matched this layout of my sweet daughter so well!

Would you like to see how this layout came together? I recorded a quick step-by-step process video for you to watch, so take a cup of coffee and enjoy!
Here’s a link to the video.

Hope you’re inspired and will re-create this kind of layout. If you do, please tag me (Instagram: @terhi_koskinen) to your project so I can see your wonderful work!

Wishing you a happy Tuesday!

Rainbow Layers with Terhi

Hey there lovely Pebbles Fans! Terhi Koskinen here, wishing you the most wonderful year of 2019 and inspiring you with the lovely colors of a rainbow.

When I was going through both of the Pebbles collections revealed last fall, My Bright Life and Along the Way, I noticed how beautifully the colors of them joined together. That gave me an idea, why not to embrace the colors and create a rainbow layout!

To make sure all of the colors and patterns would be visible on the layout, I first thought about some kind of grid design. But when I was setting up my camera to film a process video, I saw the papers on the table the way I could see a little stripe of each and that really inspired me, definitely wanted to move that design to the layout.

And as you can see, all of the patterns really ended up to the layout! It was quite tricky to squeeze them all in, but I managed. As the edges of the layout are very layered, I balanced the look by leaving the photograph alone.

The same balancing theme was in my mind when I finished the layout with watercolors, I didn’t want to leave the edges all alone but again not to fill them up too much.

Hope you’ll have fun watching the video! If you any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

Circles and Squares Layout with a Video Tutorial

Hey there Pebbles friends and fans, Becki here. Today I have a circles and squares layout to share with you AND a video tutorial. I love creating with basic shapes. I think that basic shapes make for an eye-catching project.  On this layout I gathered a LOT of different patterned papers. I chose blues, teals, reds, whites, and a little pop of black. These papers came from a few different collections (Holly Jolly, Spring Fling, Everyday Winter Wonderland, and Warm & Cozy).

From each pattern I cut a 3×3 square. After cutting the squares I cut circles. Cutting circles can be done many different ways (circle cutter, punch, die, electronic die cut machine or with a template). I used a small mason jar for a template. That was simply the easiest method for me at the time. When I had all my circles and squares cut out, I layered them together (circles on top of squares) and stitched them together. I used my sewing machine to stitch from corner to corner on the squares making an X in the middle of each circle. After my squares and circles were stitched, they were ready to attach to the layout. You can see the layout come together on the video tutorial:

With such a beautiful patterned paper background, I kept the embellishments to a minimum. I wanted the patterned papers to shine on this layout.

The journaling on this layout is tucked behind the photo on a large kraft tag. I hand wrote the journaling with a black journaling pen. Even if you don’t like your handwriting I think it’s important to hand write some journaling once in a while.

I love how this little deer head die cut added a masculine touch to the layout about two of my favorite boys.

This layout is one of my favorites. It fits great with the decor in my boys bedroom. I think I’ll frame it and hang it in their room.

Die-cutting with Your Favorite Patterned Papers

Hello there!  It’s Mendi here today with a patriotic layout using Pebbles beautiful Americana collection.

Patriotic Fourth of July Layout by Mendi Yoshikawa using #Americana collection from @PebblesInc. @SnippetsByMendi

This has to be one of my all time favorite collections of Pebbles.  I just love the color palette and all of the great patterns and embellishments!

I thought it would be really fun to take one of the flower print patterned papers from the collection and cut them out to form a floral border on my page.

To hand cut all the flowers would take quite a bit of time and patience so I chose to pull out my Silhouette PixScan mat which allows you to take a photo of what you want to cut out and then find the outline of the printed shapes.  I decided it might be easier to explain my process with a video for this particular tutorial which is also available to watch at YouTube.

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oUDf4WTaFU?rel=0]
I won’t go into all the details here, but I will say that I started by clicking on the PixScan Icon within the newest Silhouette software (third icon from the top right) and then I clicked on the “import from file” button on the far right.  From there I clicked on “Camera Calibration” and loaded “Show Test Calibration Card” which I printed out using a standard printer.  This test is made up of a series of small dots.  I then took a photo of the test paper with my camera, trying to physically crop in as close as possible with my lens.  It also helps for this photo to be as bright as possible so I decided to then edit it for brightness and contrast (making sure not to play with the sizing).

I then cut down my floral patterned paper to 12″ x 6″ and adhered it to the top right-hand corner of my mat.  From there I took another photo of my entire mat with the paper, making sure all the registration marks were showing in my photo.  You can then edit your photo for brightness if you wish, but it is very important to not play with the dimensions because the two photos must be identical in that respect or it will not properly load your photo of the patterned paper.  The last step in this sequence is to “import PixScan Image from File” (or scanner).

From there you can use the trace features to find the outlines of your patterned paper that is now on the screen within the Silhouette software.  By using the PixScan photo it already knows to look for the registration marks when you go to cut.

One last thing that I struggled with at first is it is extremely important to use the loading mark on your machine by placing your mat just to the right of that guideline.  If you fail to do this (like I did for several tries) it won’t be able to find the registration marks to proceed with the cuts.  Here is a peek at what my paper looked like after cutting out.  Pretty wonderful, right?

Look at all these lovely flowers I had in just a few minutes time!  Oh the possibilities… I can’t wait to turn more of my favorite papers into embellishments on my upcoming projects!  I hope I’ve inspire you to look at your patterned papers with a fresh eye.  🙂

Here’s one last look at how I arranged them on my layout.  I love that I have plenty left and ready for upcoming projects.  🙂
