Patriotic Activities with Terhi

Hey all and Happy July!
Terhi here with you, just in time to celebrate 4th of July with the citizens of the USA.
I’d like to share something patriotic from here where I live, in Finland. I made this scrapbook layout to capture our story about the way we celebrate our Independence Day, and from the end of this post you can also find a process video to learn how to make similar layout yourself!

Celebrating Independence Day in Finland usually means another snowy day, and therefore our activities during the day are either inside a building or somehow tied up with the snow. In my family the tradition is to go hiking in the snowy woods, set a campfire and have some delicious outdoor food (and hot cocoa!) in crisp freezing air. Sure the day has some other repetitive elements, but I feel this one is the closest to my heart.

Even though the Finnish Independence Day is all white and blue in many, many ways, I chose to create this layout using the Big Top Dreams collection with its amazingly rich colors. These colors shows exactly how much fun it is to slide down a hill with a sled, or be under a snowy tree when another kicks it hard to the arm!

This layout was very easy to do, however fussy cutting all the flowers sure took some time. Take a look to the process video below to see how it all came together. If you can’t see the video here, click here to my YouTube channel.

Hope you feel inspired! Have a fantastic day!

Spring Vibes and Acrylic Paints with Terhi

Hello Pebbles Fans!
Terhi Koskinen here back with you and I’m very happy to share this layout just now in the end of May. Everything outside is green, at least here in Finland and I can also bath in the beauty of flowers and blooms! Even on my way to work I can smell how the apple trees are blooming. Spring is my favourite, absolute favourite!

To bring the lovely spring vibe on to the scrapbook layout can be a bit tricky, but don’t worry at all as I have couple of tricks to help you out. And also a step-by-step process video in the end of this post to show you exactly how to create a layout like mine!
First, make sure your photos are presenting the kind of spring you wish to spread out through the layout. For example, it will be hard (if not possible) to make bring spring vibes to a layout if the photo on the layout shows the face of Santa Claus.
Instead, take your photos from outside and make sure there is something green showing. Or even better, take some photos of your favourite blooms and go with that!

Second trick for a spring layout is to fussy cut blooms and flowers as much as possible. I mixed couple of the latest Pebbles collections to make sure I have lots and lots of different shaped blooms. The ephemera pieces, patterned papers and the biggest fussy cut blooms are from Chasing Adventures, all other flowers from Loves Me. I like to avoid too busy layouts, but a good mix of different shaped, sized and coloured blooms are definitely very important key to bring the spring vibes onto your page.

Third and last trick to spring layout is green. Like I said in the first paragraph, the world here looks like it’s all green. If you looks closely, you can see there are hundreds of different shades and tones of greens outside. It’s important to bring the same idea to your page.
Pick different greens to your layout: to the background, to the ephemera pieces and to the fussy cut leaves. Also, the photo(s) will bring you another tone of green.

As said earlier, I’ve got a video tutorial for you. Enjoy watching!

Oh Summertime Travel Journal

Hello Pebbles friends! Marcia here today with a tutorial on how to create your own travel journal. This could be used to document your summer vacation adventures or to send with a child to summer camp. I decorated this one with the Oh Summertime collection.

Here is a peek at the inside pages… There is a side pocket that can be used to hold sticker sheets or ephemera pieces. You could even store postcards and stamps to send to friends and family when you are traveling.

There are 3 gusseted pocket pages that follow. You could store photos, postcards, or other memorabilia inside.

In the back I have added a notebook. I covered this one with pattern paper to pretty it up.

I have put together a YouTube tutorial complete with measurements. It is fairly easy to put together. I hope you have a look. Click here

Chasing Adventures with Terhi – Video Tutorial

Hello Pebbles Fans!
It’s Terhi here with my first scrapbook layout using the wonderful Chasing Adventures collection. The Chasing Adventures is designed by Jen Hadfield, and I must say it is definitely my most favorite from her so far.
The rich colors and billions of flowers makes scrapbooking even easier than before, and my head is full of ideas!

This scrapbook layout is inspired by all the flowers and blooms I spied from the collection. I enjoyed fussy cutting most of them, but also used the ephemera pack to fill the page.

There are several ways to add title to match to a layout like this, all those thickers, stickers, wood veneer shapes and other, but still I wanted to cut out a piece of patterned paper to be my title. “Happy girls are the prettiest” just matched this layout of my sweet daughter so well!

Would you like to see how this layout came together? I recorded a quick step-by-step process video for you to watch, so take a cup of coffee and enjoy!
Here’s a link to the video.

Hope you’re inspired and will re-create this kind of layout. If you do, please tag me (Instagram: @terhi_koskinen) to your project so I can see your wonderful work!

Wishing you a happy Tuesday!

Thank You Cards with Yvette, our guest designer!

Hello everyone!  My name is Yvette Weber and I am so excited to be a guest on the Pebbles blog today.  With the holiday just behind us, I decided to make a couple of thank you cards to share with you. It’s such a wonderful way to say thank you, for all of the amazing gifts you got!
For my first card, I started by drawing a isosceles triangle to use as an outline for my Christmas tree.
I had an idea to create a Christmas tree using circles…the beautiful patterns and colors in the Cozy and Bright collection were absolutely perfect for this.
I needed my circles to be very small, so I used a 3/4 inch circle punch to punch several circles from the patterned papers I selected…
Next, I started gluing the circles in place, starting from the bottom and making sure to slightly overlap each one as I worked my way to the top.
Here’s a look at the finish tree!

To give the illusion that the tree is lit up, I added a bit of yellow paint. Stitched around the perimeter and then adhered it another layer of patterned paper.

A fussy cut flower was used as a tree topper and I couldn’t resist using those adorable gingerbread boy/girl die-cuts to embellish my card. To finish the card off, I added a stamped sentiment and some enamel dots.

For the second card, I combined patterned papers from Merry Merry and Cozy and Bright collections to create a grid design.

I start by cutting my patterned paper into four rectangles (2 1/2 x 1 5/8)

Use a white gel pen and a ruler to add some faux stitching to each of the rectangles.

Next, I use a decorative die-cut with some vellum to add another layer to my card.

Embellish with a few die-cut pieces from the Cozy and Bright collection.

Add a stamped sentiment as well as a piece of patterned paper to the inside of the envelope – I really love how this turned out!

If you have a photo of you or your loved one opening that gift, why not enclose a copy of it in your card!

I hope I inspired you today to create a few Holiday thank you cards….

Have a wonderful day!
