Heart of Home Thankful Layout

Hello Pebbles friends! It’s Monique with you today and I’m so happy to be here! I can’t believe how fast this year is flying by! Halloween has come and gone and now it’s already November!  I created today’s layout with Thanksgiving in mind. Here in The Netherlands, we don’t celebrate like the US, but being thankful is something we can do everywhere in the world. With that in mind, here’s my thankful layout. I used the beautiful Heart of Home collection by Jen Hadfield, which I just can’t get enough of! I love the soft colors and all the golden touches.

When I got started on this page I knew which photo I wanted to use. It’s the photo of my husband and our three kids taken on Father’s Day last June. I adore this photo and it depicts what I’m most grateful for: a loving husband and three healthy, adorable, smart, kind, awesome kids! With this photo as my starting point, I gathered the papers and embellishments I wanted to use:

The journaling on my layout is written in Dutch, but it’s about the fact that I find it a real shame we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in The Netherlands. There is so much to be thankful for and I would love to have one day in the year where we all take time off to actually realize this. Before gluing my layout together, I printed my journaling directly onto a piece of patterned paper using my laptop with MS Word and my Canon printer.

Now that I had my paper with the journaling, I started adhering all the bits and pieces onto my white cardstock background. Of course I also used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges of my page & grey card with the flowers and the sentiment (cut from the Heart of Home paper). For a little extra dimension, I used a few Sticky Thumb dimensional adhesive foam dots to adhere the tag beneath my photo and the heart die-cut:

I treated the flowers of the journaling card with my “Wink of Stella brush”. I love the glitter look! It fits the mood of this layout perfectly.

The title was added last. I love the pink color of these Thickers and definitely needed to include one of the words of this set. One of my very favorite embellishments on this layout is the gold 3D butterfly with the word “love” across it (from the Heart of Home dimensional stickers). It’s so delicate and beautiful!

I really love how this Heart of Home Thankful layout turned out. Hope you do too. Will you scrap about the things you’re thankful about? I would love to see if you do!

DIY Fall Home Decor | Fall Traditions DIY

Happy Fall, ‘yall!   Heather Leopard is here for fall traditions week. I thought I’d focus on decorating the house to get it started.  While our leaves may not change colors until closer to Winter, we do enjoy changing the scenery and pumpkin spicing everything indoors.

I started this project thinking I’d make a DIY Fall Home Decor banner but as I was on my last step (and searching for jute), I ran across this tin sign I had in my stash.  Changed things up and decided to give the banner a bit of a twist.

Step 1: Gather your DIY fall home decor supplies

All you need are 4 – 6 coordinating patterned papers, a few coordinating embellishments, a die cut machine (manual or electronic), tape runner, jute or a sign holder.

Step 2: Let’s get started

Cut your banners approx. 3 3/4″ w x 5 3/4″ h. I chose to use 4 different patterned papers but you could get away 1 or 2.  Your project = your choice 🙂  *Set them aside.

*I do this step first so that I know how large to make my alphas based on how large I want my banner.

Cut your alphas.  I created a lighter outline of each letter (2 1/4″ w x 3″h) and then cut each letter slightly smaller in contrasting paper (1 3/4″ w x 2 3/4″h) so that the letter would stand out more.

Step 3: Put it all together

Now it’s time to assemble everything.  Using your banners as the base, lay your letters on top and select a few embellishments to add to it.  I selected a mix of dimensional and non-dimensional embellishments.  Once you like what you see, commit by adhering it all in place.

Option A or B…which will you choose?

This is where you choose whether to make a banner or add it to a frame other other cute sign.

While I had every intention of making a DIY Fall Home Decor banner for my mantle or foyer, I decided at the very last minute to do something completely different.  Luckily it all fit and I love how it turned out!  I guess you should probably make this decision early on in the process so you can make sure it’s the right size.

Adding Journaling spots to Cards

Get ready to make easy journaling spots to include and display on your next set of cards created by @leanne_allinson for @PebblesInc. #warmandcozy #woodlandforest

Hello Friends! It’s Leanne here today and I’m sharing a fun idea to help you get more out of a simple greeting card. This week on the blog we have been sharing journaling ideas with all of our projects and I thought, where else should you spend a little extra time composing a special message, if not on inside of a handmade card!

These cute cards can stand supporting themselves, and display your message, all in one. The base cardstock is where the magic begins! One piece of 12”x12” cardstock will create two card bases. Start by trimming the cardstock into three 4”x12” strips. Cut the third cardstock strip in half at the 4”x6” mark.

To create one card base, fold the 4”x12” cardstock strip at 3” and again at 6”. Use the 4”x6” trimmed cardstock piece as the front of your card.

When creating these cards, I wanted to emphasise the journaling aspect and so I chose patterned papers with words or newsprint to create the backdrop on the card base. The paper was trimmed to 3.75”x5.75”. I added ink to the edges and machine stitched a border directly to the paper before adhering it to the cardstock.

The same principle was applied to the folded cardstock base.

On this first card, I’ve created my own journaling spot with extra cardstock and a few layers of patterned paper. Fussy cut leaves and flowers were added to the lower edge of the journaling spot, to help draw attention to your message.

To assemble the card, add adhesive to the reverse side of the top fold only.

Align the bottom of the 4”x6” card front to the bottom edge of the reverse side of folded card base. By adding adhesive to this section only, it allows the card to stand and display your message.

My second card has been created in a similar fashion.

The twist with this one however, is with the pocket insert found on the inside.

The pocket is created by trimming the newsprint patterned paper to 3.5”x4.75” and punching a circle notch at the top edge. This piece of paper is then sewn directly to the 3.75”x5.75” layer below it, before both pieces of paper are then adhered to the cardstock base.

Thankful to be Your Mom

Hello, Becki here, to share with you a layout I created using the brand new Happy Day collection. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day and there’s nothing I’m more thankful for than my family. I created this layout to tell my kiddos how grateful I am for them. Today I also thought I’d share a couple of tricks that I use when I’m adding Thickers to my projects.  When I add Thickers to the page and I want them to be in a straight line I use a clear ruler. I put my Thickers on the ruler and then when I have them placed in a straight line I place it on the page and gently press the top of the Thickers down and move the ruler.

http://beckiadams.blogspot.com/Once I have my Thickers in place I usually stitch over them to make sure that they stay in place. The Thickers that come with this collection are thin chipboard with a little bit of a wood grain (the other set is the same material but in a beautiful floral pattern).  They are so easy to stitch through.

http://beckiadams.blogspot.com/I used a frame from the cardstock tag frames pack to put my photos in. I printed the photos at 2 inches square and they fit perfectly in the frame.
