Thank You dear Teacher – with Terhi

Hello! It’s Terhi here with my thoughts and ideas about how to say thank you for one of our most important people in everyday life – Teachers.

When my younger daughter started her school couple years ago, I didn’t even thought about appreciating teachers hard work before my friend started a conversation about how to say thank you.

Before buying a bouquet and chocolate, I started to really think about what I’d like to give. The work they do is so impressive, and of course it would be fantastic to give what they really deserve – and want. Together with other parents we ended up to putting our money together, and bought a gift card to a local beauty salon. We thought to support local small business, and what would be more relaxing after hard work than long massage, or any other treatment.

But of course, it’s not all about the gift card. It’s also about the way the gift card is given. And how the words are said. I couldn’t accept any printed card, I wanted to create it by myself and write beautifully how much we appreciate our teacher.

These small cards are made on cardstock base. I first cut out tag shaped piece of cardstock, then similar shape piece of patterned paper and glued them together. Obviously words on cardstock are easier to read than on patterned paper. On top of the base I added several layers of paper scraps. Lots and lots tiny pieces and all adhered together with a stapler. So quick to do!

I glued down the paper cluster and then added some stickers and ephemera pieces to decorate. As you see, the other card doesn’t even have any sentiment. It’s all written to the backside. Now I’m just going to put these to envelopes together with the gift cards and hug our teacher tightly.

I hope you find these small cards inspiring! Thank you for coming here today!

Terhi xx

Teacher Appreciation with Amanda Baldwin

Hi Pebbles Friends & Fans!

Amanda here for another super sweet, but oh so easy gift idea! This week is all about Teacher Appreciation, and as a teacher myself, I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful it is to receive a gift made from a child’s hand! Hence, today’s post is super simple because I had my 5 yr old son make it for his school teacher! Yes, it’s that easy! So let’s get started!

Begin with a recycled jar, some fabric netting or tulle, ribbon and your favourite Ephemera pieces from the Patio Party collection…

Have your child wrap the jar with the netting, tie the ribbon in a bow and accessorize with the ephemera. Add an extra ‘special’ detail with a layered butterfly sticker, as shown below…..

Isn’t this sweet?! Have your child select some flowers from the garden and arrange them in the vase, while you assist with cardmaking!

Start with a simple 6″ x 4″ white card. Trim pattern paper Citrus Sweet to size 5 3/4″ x  4 3/4″ and adhere to card front.

Attach ephemera leaves and blooms as shown below….

Cut apart pattern paper Just For You and use the woodgrain thankyou tag. Mount it with adhesive foam dots for added dimension. Embellish with a couple of 6 x 12 Cardstock Sticker butterflies, and finish with a bow!

Super simple, but seriously sweet! Didn’t he do a great job?!

An absolutely darling gift that any teacher (or Mom for Mother’s Day) would love to receive from your child! I hope it has inspired you to spend a little creative time with your children too! (It’s never too early to start them on the crafty path) I’d love to see their takes on this lovely gift – so please be sure to share them with us on the Pebbles Inc Facebook page!

Thanks for visiting!

Happy Arty Days, Amanda xo

Tealightful Graduation Layout | Teacher Appreciation Week

Hello Pebbles friends! It’s Monique here today, sharing a Tealightful graduation layout for “Teacher Appreciation” week. Last year was an exciting year as both my daughter and my eldest son graduated from high school. Although I created many layouts about my daughter’s graduation, I didn’t scrap a single one about my son’s. When I saw the theme for this week, I knew what I wanted to do — create a layout celebrating my son’s graduation as well as a tribute to his awesome teacher. I used Pebbles’ awesome Tealightful collection to create this page.

I’m thrilled I finally got this page done! I struggled finding a collection for a “boy layout” and although this collection isn’t exactly masculine, it works perfectly!

Here’s how this page came together. First, I selected the products I thought I was going to use: leftover scraps of patterned paper, little squares cut from the Tea Party Sentiments sheet, (puffy) stickers, die-cuts, and the Pink Glitter Foam Thickers.

As the squares from the Tea Party Sentiments sheet measure 5 x 5 cm, I cut all other squares in this same size. Some of the squares I cut through diagonally, making them into triangles. Next, I arranged all the squares and triangles on a sheet of white cardstock.

When I was satisfied with the placement of all the squares, I put a little bit of adhesive behind them and machine stitched them next.

Following the stitching, I adhered the photo to the top of the layout and arranged die-cuts and stickers around it. I thought the “Here’s to New Adventures” die-cut was perfect for this occasion! Next, I had to decide where to place the Thickers. For a little while I wondered whether or not to use the pink glitter Thickers for my son’s layout, but in the end, I decided to just go for it and I am so glad I did!

Teacher Appreciation Pencil Dispenser

Hello, and welcome to the Pebbles blog! Amanda here today with a quick and practical teacher appreciation DIY. As a former high school teacher I know that I was most often in need of consumable supplies, especially pencils. Although I never fully understood why, it is nearly impossible for 14 and 15 year-olds to keep track of a pencil, and darn it if I was going to let that be an excuse to not get work done!

Your child’s teacher will sing your praises if you give the simple (and inexpensive) gift of pencils. Brand spankin’ new ones, with erasers and all. Deliver them in a fun, yet practical, container that they can keep on their desk year-round.

This old-timey straw dispenser will get way more use holding pencils than it ever would straws. It would be super fun to fill it with colored pencils or even paintbrushes.

Rather than use a red apple, decorate your pencil dispenser with trendy pineapples and citrus fruit. Classic black polka dots and vellum label add a cool, modern look and contrast nicely with the bright yellow pencils and stickers.

Top it all off with an adorable twine bow.

If you have worked with vellum before, you know that adhesives can be, well, a sticky issue. Avoid unsightly adhesive issues by strategically placing glue dots behind the printed portion of the vellum sentiment. For this rather small sentiment, I picked up tiny glue dots with tweezers and placed them behind several letters.

Look, Ma! No adhesive showing behind the vellum!

Teacher Appreciation Layout

Hey friends, Becki here, to share with you a layout I created during teacher appreciation week. You guys, it’s been a long time since I’ve written journaling that made my teary eyed, but this one did it! My little man went to kindergarten this year. Not only was it hard to send my baby to kindergarten but this has been a REALLY hard year for our family. Luckily, my little guy hit the kindergarten jackpot and got a teacher that is heaven sent. I am grateful for her every.single.day!

I started creating this layout with a few scraps from the Everyday collection and a piece of white cardstock. I find myself reaching for this collection so often that all I have left is scraps. Yes, I love it that much!

Teacher Appreciation Layout by @jbckadams for @pebblesinc #scrapbooking #teacherappreciation #pebblesinc

I arranged the scraps around the edge of the layout and stitched around the edge twice. I stitched around the edge for two reasons. One, to keep the scraps in place without using a TON of adhesive.

Teacher Appreciation Layout by @jbckadams for @pebblesinc #scrapbooking #teacherappreciation #pebblesinc

Two, by stitching around the edge twice it creates a bit of texture and interest on the perimeter of the layout.

After I stitched around the layout I curled the inside edge of a few of the scraps to give the layout a little bit more dimension.

The rest of this layout came together SO easily! I simply added the title (gold glitter Thickers and a vellum die cut), the journaling, and 4 small black and white photos.

I kept embellishments to a minimum on this layout, really, I added one paper clip. How’s that for keeping embellishment to a minimum.

And here’s the finished layout. It’s simple and tells such an important story. Have you created a layout about how much you appreciate your child’s teacher? Or how much you appreciate one of your teachers?
