This is Family – talking Layouts with Tarrah

Hi everyone, it’s Tarrah McLean here with you today and I am super excited to be guest designing using the gorgeous This Is Family collection. I have created 4 layouts all together and still have loads of product! I will certainly be using my leftovers for future projects!

I absolutely love the colours, the fun icons and the versatility of the This Is Family collection. Ready to see what I created?

For my first layout, Delightful, I decided to feature quite a few of the different papers by using them to back a large title cut file design. Once all the letters were backed, I then used craft foam to pop it up off the background paper slightly to the left of the page. I trimmed the barcode strip off the bottom of the background paper and added it to the top of the page for some added colour.

I matted the photo of myself with my family with some of the die-cut pieces and placed it to the right of the large title and I tucked in one of the cute acetate flower clusters under the photo. I added another of the flower die-cuts to the letter ‘D’ in Delightful to balance the flowers. To keep things in 3’s, I also added one of the flower stickers under the ‘G’. Lastly I added more die-cuts and stickers to finish embellishing, I especially love the super cute fish bowl sticker!

For my second layout, Family Traditions, I used a heart cut file design but this time I used it as a guide. I lightly adhered the template to my chosen background paper and then used the positive pieces to cut my chosen papers. I then adhered all the papers in and pulled up the template once done. I then took out my sewing machine and stitched in between all the triangles. I chose a photo of myself with my Mum, Sister and Niece together and adhered it using craft foam slightly to the right of the design. I also layered one of the die-cut frames under the photo. I decided to keep the embellishing to a minimum as the design is fairly busy with all the different papers.

I added one of the banner stickers and that small phrase die-cut that says ‘Love You To Bits and Pieces’ was the perfect addition because the design is exactly that – bits and pieces! I popped this piece up using pop dots for some added dimension and did the same for the Be Happy For This Moment piece at the bottom and the Family Traditions piece that I used for my title.

I really love the rubber charms on the clips and wanted to add the girl one. The clip part wasn’t going to work so I took some time to pull the clip off so that I could use the rubber charm only. Lastly, I added a couple more of the stickers including a floral one, some phrase ones and some of the clear stickers too.

I absolutely love the birthday elements in the ‘This Is Family’ collection so I just had to make a birthday themed layout! I started with some plain white cardstock and then cut the Celebration paper to fit ¾ of the white cardstock. I also cut a strip of the Fridge Art paper and used the ‘B’ side to add to the bottom of the Celebration paper. I then layered one of the pink bar code strips over that paper. I took the large birthday cake die-cut and added some foam dots underneath; I then placed it to the bottom left of the pink strip and added some twine around the whole page for some added texture.  I added a few of the phrase stickers to the top of the cake for some added interest. I cut out the ‘Hip Hip Hooray’ card from the Fun Times paper to act as my title. I placed it right next to my photo that I matted and machine stitched it in place. I tucked one of the ‘B’ sides of the recipe cards in behind the photo plus some of the candle die-cuts to the right hand side.

To embellish, I popped up the Happy Birthday banner die-cut and overlapped it on the Hip Hip Hooray card. I also popped up the party hat and the smaller birthday cake and also added the cupcake sticker. The last things added were some of the clear stickers and the streamer stickers to finish the layout.

As well as the birthday elements, there are stacks of cooking/food icons in this fabulous collection and I knew I had the perfect photos to scrapbook a layout! I went for a grid design for this layout as I wanted to use all the cooking-related papers on one page. I cut the papers to about 3” x 3” and arranged them on the yellow side of the ‘Fresh Picked’ paper that I chose for my background. Once I had them all adhered in place, I machine stitched a rectangle around the entire square design. I then decided to trim down the yellow paper a little and added it to white cardstock.

This time I have included 3 photos on my page, the photos are of my little guy dressed as a mini chef. He is soooo cute don’t you think?! I popped the photos up on craft foam and arranged them across the page. I then tucked in one of the plate die-cuts and love how the fork overlaps on to the next photo. I pulled out the rest of the food and cooking-related elements including stickers, clear stickers and die-cuts. My title was obvious when I saw that Supper Time piece. I popped it up with pop dots and also clustered a few other embellishments near the title too. I tried to decorate each square on its own and treated each one like a tiny layout. I left the bottom middle one without any extra embellishing as the paper was busy without it. Some of the elements I popped up with pop dots and some are flat. I love how this layout tells the story of my mini chef!

Thank you so much for stopping by the Pebbles Inc blog today! I hope I have inspired you in some way using the This Is Family collection.

Thank you so much to Pebbles Inc for asking me to guest design, I absolutely LOVED working with this gorgeous collection!

Happy creating!

Tarrah

Capturing life along the way with Guest, Natalie

Hi friends! I am Natalie Dill and I’m THRILLED to be guest designing for Pebbles today!

I used the lovely new collection from Jen Hadfield called Along the Way to create this 8.5×11 layout about my sweet puppy girl.

@scrappinhappy we love all the elements you added to this darling page featuring your fur baby! Thanks for being a guest at @pebblesinc!

The base kraft paper is actually from the Pebbles Cozy & Bright 12×12 paper pad. I sewed it to a white background paper using a zig zag border stitch. The 6×8 Along the Way patterned paper pad is perfection when creating an 8.5×11 layout! Cutting lengths of the patterned paper down the 8 inch side in different widths built my middle layer strip. I used a lacy paper punch for the border strip on that yummy pink piece, and I popped up my photo with some adhesive foam for added dimension.

@scrappinhappy we love all the elements you added to this darling page featuring your fur baby! Thanks for being a guest at @pebblesinc!

I picked some of my favorite ephemera pieces from the icon and phrases packs to embellish, and I chose pieces with black on each to tie them together from top to bottom.

@scrappinhappy we love all the elements you added to this darling page featuring your fur baby! Thanks for being a guest at @pebblesinc!

I love allowing a bit of the die cut to come off the page. It will stick out the protector a bit, but adds great interest! I used some gold and black sprays for splatter and a gold wax seal for mixed media embellishing.

@scrappinhappy we love all the elements you added to this darling page featuring your fur baby! Thanks for being a guest at @pebblesinc!

I loved using this soft, homey collection to document my dog in her napping element. The sentiments are great for documenting your home life and cozy moments!

@scrappinhappy we love all the elements you added to this darling page featuring your fur baby! Thanks for being a guest at @pebblesinc!

Thanks for having me, Pebbles!
