Easter Scrapbook Layout

Who doesn’t love a fun, themed collection? They’re always so fun to work with. It’s a bit more of a creative challenge though when you repurpose a themed collection and use it in a new way. Take for instance the way Suzanna Lee has taken our Special Delivery line and used it to create an Easter scrapbook layout.

Repurposing Themed CollectionsThe Special Delivery Girl collection has such lovely soft colors with a bright spark here and there to pull you in. It’s just darling for baby girls. Or Easter bunnies! My baby girl is 7 now, she’s really not much of a baby. But doesn’t preclude me from using this collection! The colors and certain elements are just the thing for this Easter themed layout.

Easter scrapbook layout created by @SuzannaLee72 using @PebblesInc #SpecialDeliver collection #scrapbooking #pebblesincDon’t be afraid to re-purpose themed collections. Scan through the embellishments and you will always find some that are generic, more support to the central theme. Those are the embellishments and papers that will become central to your re-purposed theme and creation. For example, the rabbit and flowers that I used here.

Easter scrapbook layout created by @SuzannaLee72 using @PebblesInc #SpecialDeliver collection #scrapbooking #pebblesincEven embellishments that clearly are particular to the theme can be multi-purposed. It’s very clear when you think about it that “Hello world” and “Girl” are from a baby collection when you see it with the whole collection and all the cutesy baby sayings and classic symbols of baby (safety pins, rubber ducks, etc) but they don’t look out of place here, on an Easter layout. Think outside of the box; how else can you use things?

That little green washi tape looking bit anchoring the journaling tag down is the top of the “Hello world” banner. It was too long for the spot I wanted the banner so I trimmed it to fit. The left over was perfect as a pseudo-washi don’t you think?

EasterRepurpose_Close3_SuzannaLeeDon’t be afraid to use a themed collection if it’s not relevant to you for another purpose! I had another example of re-purposing up on my blog earlier this month. I used the Pebbles Americana collection, a very patriotic, red, white and blue collection to document a swimming event. You can find it HERE if you’re interested.

With Garden Party in the house, we’ve all got a bit of “Spring Fever.” Today Designer Suzanna Lee is sharing a super-fun set of spring themed gift bags. We hope you love them just as much as we do!

PB_GardenParty

I’m really not much of project creator – I’m more of a scrapbooker.

How can you not want to create with the Garden Party collection though? Around the various holiday’s throughout the year, I am always looking for creative ways to gussie up presents for my kids and their friends.

For Easter, I can up with these gift bags. Though they aren’t specific to Easter, they could be used for a gorgeous Mother’s Day gift or a thank you to a friend with some bulbs inside!

Spring gift bag created with @PebblesInc Garden

These treat bags came together lickety split with the aid of a gift bag cut file from the Silhouette store. To create the bottom layer, re-cut the same file a tad larger and cut the bottom third off (or delete the top 2/3rds in Silhouette Studio as I did). Use a punch for the grassy border and set to work embellishing.

The die cuts make for the perfect garden! Thread some twine through holes on either side of the ticket and you have dressed up things a bit.

Wanting to do something a bit different for each child, the second gift bag has it’s own unique “spring”! Use talcum powder on the back of the sticker to removed the stick thus enabling you to adhere it to the grass without having it stick onto the gift bag.

Valentine’s Day Layout

Today Designer Suzanna Lee is showcasing how you can create a holiday layout without using themed papers and lines. We love the unique ways she’s created a true Valentine’s Day layout using fall papers!

Valentine's Day

We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s day in my household as it’s commonly referred to as St Hallmark’s Day. I believe and try to instill in my children that sharing and showing our love for loved ones ought to happen every day in small tokens and actions. Sure, the occasional grand gesture is nice but it oughtn’t be expected. We do make and send out little love notes as it’s what kids do, I don’t want them to feel left out.

Valentine's Day Layout

Today I’m sharing an 8.5×11 horizontal layout with you that reflects back upon the opening of those innocent little messages, the days of a whole class being friendly and sharing friendly messages. Sure, Pebbles has a Valentine’s collection but you will have seen a lot of that lately. You don’t have to have a particularly themed collection to document a particular event!

Valentine's Day Layout

Our common associations with Valentine’s day are flowers, chocolate and love letters, all of which are included on this layout. Chippies flowers from the From Me to You collection, an envelope of letters in the form of a picture and the chocolates are in the pictures! I feel I captured it all in a very masculine way that doesn’t scream red hot love!

ValentineLOFeb11_Close

When I get organized and find all the Valentine’s that I know I have saved somewhere, they will fit in the pocket that I created behind the picture, where the glassine bag sits nestled. I know I’m not the only one who collects all this ephemera only to be unable to locate it when the time of usefulness arrives! It will be found (some day…) and there will be a home for it!

Valentine’s Day Pockets

Valentine's Day

Set hearts a flutter with these Valentine’s Day pockets made using the Your’s Truly collection, by Suzanna Lee.

Valentine's Day Pockets

The great thing about these sweet little pockets is that you can create 3 pockets from one 12×12 piece of patterned paper!

Each pocket is 4 inches wide so cut three strips. Fold up 4.5 inches from the bottom and lop off the top inch. Use your adhesive runner down each outer edge to create the pocket with little fuss or waste. Take your pick of the many embellishments that accompany this collection and decorate away! Everything matches perfectly so it will all come together in a heartbeat!

Valentine's Day Pockets

Each pocket Valentine has an envelope and note (cut journaling cards) on the front which bind the ties of the three together. Layer chipboard pieces with stickers and it’s simple to piece together! You could even have a child help you with these for a whole class.

Valentine's Day Pockets

My original intent had been, and still is, to find some of the sugar pixie straws to put in the pocket for a little taste of Valentine sweetness. Cute, don’t you think?!

Valentine's Day Pockets

Designer Tip: I know we all have paper a plenty but why waste? Make it simple, forget the fancy flaps on the side just run your adhesive up the sides to create the pocket. The pocket “edges” are the paper selvages!
