Mothers Day moments and more with Guest Suzanna Lee!

Hi Pebbles fans! I am honored to be guest designing for Pebbles this month. My name is Suzanna and I have two layouts to share with you today, one for Mother’s Day and the other for everyday.  Both were created using the bright and festive Patio Party collection! This collection from Jen Hadfield is just stunning with the bright colors and bits of gold scattered through out!

Guest designer Susanna Lee shares her scrappy skills with us just in time for Mother's Day!

This first layout is fitting for the holiday happening this weekend, Mothers Day! This layout uses a digital cut file from the Silhouette store which becomes the decorative center piece of the layout. Flowers from the collection, both dimensional and stickers, add color to the circular wreath while the creased flowers and layering add dimension and movement.

I like to be able to use the alphas/Thickers that accompany collections but am inclined to make my titles less generic, per se. I used “Happy Day” phrase and just inserted Mothers to make the title fitting to the layout. The letters for “Mother” were cut using a Big Kick but you could also use a digital cutting machine or letter stickers.

The brown and white strip at the top of the layout just grounds the layout and provides a bit more visual interest to the page.

Should you be of the process video inclination, you can see this layout come together here;

This second layout uses some of the left-over leaves from the first. I was inspired by a graphic design I saw on Pinterest but can no longer find. It too had “summer” going down the page as I have with foliage in amongst the letters.

The word “summer” was cut using my Silhouette in two different patterned papers from the 12×12 pad then overlapped slightly to give a shadow effect. Some of the letters are popped up on pop dots to provide some depth to the layout.

I could have used fussy cut flowers from one of the patterned papers, however, I really only wanted yellow flowers.  I then used a multi-layer stamp set for the larger flowers that are interspersed among the letters. Stickers from the collection are scattered amongst the letters to create a garden scene.

One of the lovely golden puffy stickers completes the title for “Hello Summer”.

Early next week, this process video will be available for viewing on my personal YouTube channel.

Thank you Pebbles for the honor of guest designing! If you enjoyed my projects please be sure to visit out my personal social media sites for additional inspiration.

Sweater Weather Layout and Goody Bags

Happy fall y’all! Cliché, I know. But when you live in the South, it’s just what makes sense!

SweaterWeather-01

Suzanna back again, this time as a guest, to share a “Sweater Weather” layout and off the page project with you that I created using the Home+Made collection.

Guest Designer @SuzannaLee72 shares a sweater weather layout and goody bags using the #JHHomeMade collection by @tatertotsandjello and @PebblesInc.

A little more than sweaters in this picture as we’re wearing our winter coats but you get the idea! Fall in England can be brutal with a biting wind that accompanies it. The banner stickers that accompanied this collection were a perfect complement to hand cut banners that span the edge of the layout.

Fussy cut flowers from one of the patterned papers in the bright yellow with the butterfly cut using the die from the accompanying die set create the visual triangle of three that lead your eye around the page, keeping the focus on the picture. Interestingly, and unplanned, the line of black elements also draws your eye from the top, right hand corner of the page down to the bottom, left hand corner.

I couldn’t resist the goody bags that are also a part of this collection! The gold polka dots add a subtle hint of “wow” to me, taking the brown paper sack up a notch! Add a swag of colored goodness and you have great Fall (or Autumn) gift giving décor!

These were dead easy to put together using the die set, a strip of patterned paper, a tag and some more fussy cut flowers.

Relifting Old Layouts

Ever reread an old journal or memoir for inspiration and guidance about something that’s going on right now? Well, the same idea can apply to your pre-existing crafts and scrapbook pages! Let those oldies but goodies inspire your crafts today! Suzanna Lee is here to show us just how to rediscover old layouts and use ideas from them as modern inspiration.

When it comes to design inspiration, where do you turn? Pinterest, sketches, online or print magazines? How about looking to your own completed albums? Occasionally, I really like to “lift” my own layouts. You can be a great source of inspiration for yourself! Fancy that! In going back to find my blog post to refer you to, I also realized that the original layout was based on a PageMaps sketch! You can find my original inspiration HERE.

And this is what I came up with based on my own layout which was based on a PageMaps sketch!

@SuzannaLee72 shows us how to revamp old layouts and use ideas from them as modern inspiration! #PebblesInc

There is a little bit of variety but you see the original inspiration; the strips. There is a vertical cluster of embellishments that move down the right hand side of the page as well, just a little less defined. Pictures, title and journaling are a tad difficult but there is a resemblance.

This layout was created with a lot of the washi paper that I cut into obvious strips and layered with selvages and scraps from other projects.

I hope I have inspired you to turn to your own albums for some inspiration! It’s sitting right under your nose, you don’t have to go far!

Handmade Father’s Day Cards

With Father’s Day right around the corner, we’re having a lot of fun pulling together last-minute cards and gifts for Dad. Today, Designer Suzanna Lee is sharing a couple of fun handmade Father’s Day cards that she’s made for the men in her life…

FATHER'S dAYHi there! Suzanna here from Life’s Trivialities to share with you a  Father’s Day gift bag and card. Have you seen Pebbles’ newest collection, Birthday Wishes? It’s bright, colorful and celebratory! And it’s just perfect for celebrating all those fantastic father’s out there too! Nothing says I love you better than homemade and here’s how you can quickly turn those birthday goodies into something for Dad!

Handmade Father's Day cards created by @suzlee72 using the @PebblesInc #BirthdayWishes collection #handmade #cards #FathersDayI know, I know, I know; there ought to be an apostrophe between the ‘r’ and ‘s’ in Father’s! But when your gadget doesn’t have an apostrophe, one must risk the grammar police and their criticisms. If it makes you feel better, on my first run of this project, I did leave a space for the apostrophe but the sticker looked worse than not having it at all. And, our Daddy won’t mind!

Handmade Father's Day cards created by @suzlee72 using the @PebblesInc #BirthdayWishes collection #handmade #cards #FathersDayI turned a fun “Happy Day”  journal card into a great addition to my Father’s Day gift bag by using my Dynamo to create the “Father’s” banner to insert between the two words found on the card. Simple right?!

Handmade Father's Day cards created by @suzlee72 using the @PebblesInc #BirthdayWishes collection #handmade #cards #FathersDayThe rosette as it comes from the packaging needs to be changed up a tad to remove the birthday paper between the folded rosette and the button. It’s as easy as removing and inserting a punched piece of white cardstock. Jazz up the button a tad and add some pennants from your scraps.

Floral Scrapbook Layout

Suzanna here from Life’s Trivialities to share a layout laden with flowers with you!

Flowers

I always struggle with gifts on Mother’s Day because my Mum isn’t in state and rarely, if ever, do I see her for Mother’s Day. Rather than send her a large gift, my gift to her is often a layout expressing my gratitude or acknowledging that special place she holds in my heart and life. I created this layout for that purpose.

MDayFlwrsMay15_SuzannaLee

We all have that association of Mother’s Day with flowers, don’t we? I wonder why? Perhaps it has something to do with the frosts and planting? I know here in Virginia, many nurseries are very busy as people use Mother’s Day as that safe date to plant things outdoors. Whatever the reason, I too planted flowers for Mother’s Day; a whole garden on my layout, just for my Mum!

A smattering of misted and die cut posies along with a few stickers and the vellum flowers adorn the page for embellishment. That’s it really, flowers, flowers and more flowers!

This title (cut file from Kerri Bradford), says it all about my Mum! She sure is some kind of wonderful! I feel like it’s my spider web message broadcast to the world in some way. This will probably touch my Mum much more than thing else buy her.

So true! I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day! Did you do something unique and special for your mother? Let us here at Pebbles know what!
