Hey all!
It’s Terhi Koskinen here sharing you some tips to capture your summer memories in a beautiful way. I’m using Pebbles Sun and Fun collection, which is my most favorite line to scrapbook summer themed layouts.

If I can choose a photo for my layout I want to create, I often choose one taken with a good camera, people staying still with pretty smiles and even choosing photos edited in proper way.
This summer I will challenge myself to use more photos taken randomly, just like the one on this bright and colorful layout.

As the photo is a bit blurry and small, I decided to bring the feeling from it to the layout. My girls and their Grandpa were showing the fish they got, and the excitement was one of the things I wanted to honor. Colors are perfect for this! I picked up three bright colors from Sun and Fun patterned papers, pink, blue and green. Bringing the feeling from the photo to the layout is always a key to success.

In addition to bright colors, I added lots and lots of details to catch attention from the blurry photo. There are bits and pieces of patterned papers, ephemera, fussy cut pieces, washi tapes and much more! Also, there are words and phrases supporting the great feeling from the photo.
Finally, I finished the page by adding watercolor details close to matching colors.

What do you think, could you use more everyday photos? How about making a layout with lots of details? And maybe even finish it with some watercolor elements!
Hope you feel inspired! Have a great day!

We recently invited Leanne to prepare a guest designer post – and she accepted! We are blessed! Here is her blog post – hope you enjoy!

Hey Pebbles Friends! It’s Leanne Allinson here today popping in as a guest designer on the Pebbles blog! I am so excited to be back for a little while and to share with you the awesome new Oh Summertime collection!

Guest Blogger @leanne_allinson is on the blog with 3 fabulous summertime layouts!

I absolutely adore the fun, bold summery flavour of this collection and how it is versatile enough for either feminine or masculine layouts.

I also love layering patterned papers and the easiest way to create a statement is with repetition. Each layout shared today has one element in particular that showcases this technique.

On the first layout “Ice-Cream Breakfast” I have cut and created my own chevron pattern using the mini paper pad.

This pattern has been has been made with multiple 1” right angled triangles. To achieve a straight pattern across the page, with evenly spaced gaps between rows, simply line up the straight edge of the triangle with your background paper or cardstock layer.

To complete the layout, add a few layers of embellishment or ephemera paper pieces above and below the photo. The title work has also been die cut from the mini paper pad.

For the second layout, the element on repeat is the humble circle. Even the title card “Summertime” has rounded edges!

To recreate a similar layout, trim your two background patterned papers/cardstock to size with the top layer having a large circle cut from the middle. Hand stitch a row of embroidery thread around the outside edge to help secure it in place.

Using the We R Memory Keepers confetti punch, select coordinating papers and adhere the mini circles in the “window” between the two backgrounds. By adding circular paper ephemera, the circle motive is subtly enhanced.

Complete the summery feel to the layout by adding your own sunburst strips of paper to the cardstock layer.

On my final layout, “Really Kid?” the repetition is a lot more subtle. Check out the stripes!

Once it is pointed out, the technique becomes quite obvious! Even the paper ephemera pieces have got in on the act with offering clues.

Finally add journaling paper strips to complete the page.

A Taste Of Summer

Hey everyone, Michelle here today with a new LO to share using the Summertime collection. This collection is absolutely perfect for your summer photos. It is full of fun patterns and bright colors.

When I saw this collection had a whole 12×12 sheet of little square icons, I knew I had to use them in a fun way. I picked out a few of my favorites and added the striped green paper in between to create a background.

I then stitched all the green squares to add some texture to my LO. I also added some stitching around my LO to create a frame.

I wanted the focus of this LO to be on the watermelon. I found this cute cut file at Paper Issues. I backed it with papers from this collection. I love how it turned out!

Thanks for stopping by!

Fruitilicious Cards

Hello Pebbles friends! Marcia here today with a set of summer fruity cards created with the Oh Summertime collection.

I love shaped cards and die cuts. I was inspired to make this set of cards when I saw the “Orange you sweet” die cut ephemera piece. I knew it would make a quick and easy card if I added a few orange slices. Foam adhesive gives my card some dimension. I also added a bow and some Nuvo drops for interest.

The Oh Summertime collection also has a few popsicle die cut ephemera pieces. So I thought it would be fun to created a popsicle card. My favorite popsicle flavor is cherry … so of course my popsicle card had to be cherry flavored. To keep my card set consistent, this card also has a bow and Nuvo drops.

One of my favorite pattern papers in the Oh Summertime collection is this sheet with lemons. Lemons and Limes make my favorite summertime beverage, a nice cold margarita. The inspiration for my final fruity card.

That cute crab with the umbrella made me think of the umbrellas you find in cold summertime drinks. Foam adhesive gives my card dimension. The rim of my glass is rimmed with sparkling Nuvo drops … just like salt on a margarita glass. I also included a few translucent Nuvo drops here too.

What do the die cut ephemera pieces inspire in you?

Splish and Splash with Terhi

Hello lovely Pebbles Fans! Terhi here again with another scrapbook layout using scraps and the, oh so wonderful, Oh Summertime collection!

First, let me guess. We all have tons and tons of scraps and left overs in our drawers, or wherever each of us are storing the piles of patterned papers? Right? I do, and I agree! For me this is one of the problems which I have tried to solve in many ways.

When I first started scrapbooking, each piece of paper was so precious I couldn’t even think to throw any away. I bought each paper I liked – which often meant way more than I needed. I used a piece of paper for one layout, then stored the rest and didn’t want to create another page with the same paper. Soon I had to start considering either scrapbooking quicker and more or really finding another way to store all. That’s when my sweet daughters came to help. I let them choose anything from my leftovers to their crafts and it was a perfect way to make all of us happy.

Nowadays I have learned to buy supplies I only really love. It’s been working well, and my girls still likes to use my left overs. Sometimes I have shared some paper love to my nieces too.

This layout was created with an idea of how to use scraps. I used this Oh Summertime collection for the first time ever, so I didn’t have any real scraps at all. That’s why I took a paper with 2×2 squares and cut all out. That’s something that could be in my left overs. The easiest solution for small scraps is to go with a grid.

Grid design can be strictly straight like mine here is, but just as much it can be mixed up. I used foam tape to attach each 2×2 piece onto white cardstock, and printed out couple of similar sized photos.

Some of the 2×2 are left as they are, but next to each photograph is a cluster of embellishments to bring more attention. I fussy cut some blooms, and used my electronic cutting machine to cut some leaves to decorate the page. And finally there’s the Splish and Splash, which are absolutely favourite pieces of the collection for the glitter and dark blue color!

What you do to your scraps? Do you save all? Do you throw all away? Let me know in the comments! Have a wonderful Wednesday!
