Well, we’re two weeks into summer break and I am starting to hear the dreaded cry of “I’m bored” already!! Can anyone relate? We usually put together a fun family “bucket list” every summer, but we hadn’t gotten around to it yet this year. I decided to put together a quick and easy summer bucket list project and I’ll have my kids help me finish it up.
Follow along below to see how I made it!
Start by cutting a 12×12 paper down to 8 1/2″ x 12″ and score the bottom at 8 1/2.” I love this gingham print with suitcases on the back from the “Chasing Adventures” collection!
Use a sewing machine to stitch down the sides to make a pocket. (If you don’t want to sew it, you can just use adhesive to secure the sides). I embellished it just a bit with a couple of strips of fun coordinating washi tape.
Next, attach the entire piece to the bottom portion of an 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of heavy white cardstock (you want it to be sturdy). Add another strip of coordinating paper to the top portion to cover the white cardstock.
Cut a strip of white cardstock into a banner shape and add stickers and other embellishments to create the title “Summer Adventures!”
Now add this piece to the top portion of the background.
You could stop here…OR you could add some additional embellishments to the pocket. You know I can’t resist a fun tag or two! 😉
Now it’s time to cut some paper strips for the “bucket” items! I cut several 1″ x 6″ strips of white cardstock and added a cute little sticker to the top of each one.

Go ahead and place the entire piece on a clipboard (I love these older Pebbles clipboards so much and I use them whenever I can). Find some fun pens for the kids to use and hand it over to them. Have them write on the paper strips to list some fun activities they would like to do before the first school bell rings in a few months! (We all know how quickly time flies, it’ll be here before we know it!). Take time to make memories and enjoy spending time together.
