Hey, it’s Terhi Koskinen here with the lovely Spooky Book collection and the brightest color I’ve ever used! To be honest, orange is my least favorite color, but this time a year my mind is always looking for beautiful orange tones. Why not, the fall is coming and leading us to the most beautiful scheme of different reds, yellow, oranges and browns.
Instead of jumping straight to Halloween, I thought to warm myself up with a fall themed layout using this year’s Halloween collection. That was super easy, as all you need is to pick up the blooms and leaves from the die cuts, and layer some casual patterns to your layout. Let me show you how.
To keep things quick, fun and easy, I started by adding couple drops of Vicki Boutin Acrylic Paints straight to white background. Then gently spread it around and that’s it.
Whilst I let the paints dry, I used punches to cut out some circles and squares from the patterned papers.
…and made a small clusters by using them. Stapler is always such a helpful tool!
Next phase is to build some patterned paper layers behind the photograph, and attach them on top of the painted areas.
I also attached the small paper clusters, and then decorated the layout with cardstock stickers and ephemera from Spooky Boo line, and I love the result. So quick, and so bold!
Using paints like I did is very effective technique. It doesn’t take more than a minute, but the look of the layouts changes completely. And to be honest, you don’t have to know anything about painting, just spreading it all over will do the trick.
Even though my fingers are itching to play with the skulls, bats and other Halloween stuff from this line, I enjoyed doing this layout too. One collection can be used for so many different layouts!
Hope this inspires you!
Thank you for stopping by!
