Spooky Boo Scrapbook layout with Terhi

Hey, it’s Terhi Koskinen here with the lovely Spooky Book collection and the brightest color I’ve ever used! To be honest, orange is my least favorite color, but this time a year my mind is always looking for beautiful orange tones. Why not, the fall is coming and leading us to the most beautiful scheme of different reds, yellow, oranges and browns.

Instead of jumping straight to Halloween, I thought to warm myself up with a fall themed layout using this year’s Halloween collection. That was super easy, as all you need is to pick up the blooms and leaves from the die cuts, and layer some casual patterns to your layout. Let me show you how.

To keep things quick, fun and easy, I started by adding couple drops of Vicki Boutin Acrylic Paints straight to white background. Then gently spread it around and that’s it.

Whilst I let the paints dry, I used punches to cut out some circles and squares from the patterned papers.

…and made a small clusters by using them. Stapler is always such a helpful tool!

Next phase is to build some patterned paper layers behind the photograph, and attach them on top of the painted areas.

I also attached the small paper clusters, and then decorated the layout with cardstock stickers and ephemera from Spooky Boo line, and I love the result. So quick, and so bold!

Using paints like I did is very effective technique. It doesn’t take more than a minute, but the look of the layouts changes completely. And to be honest, you don’t have to know anything about painting, just spreading it all over will do the trick.

Even though my fingers are itching to play with the skulls, bats and other Halloween stuff from this line, I enjoyed doing this layout too. One collection can be used for so many different layouts!

Hope this inspires you!

Thank you for stopping by!

Terhi xx

A Boo-tiful Gift Idea for Halloween!

Hi Pebbles Friends!

It’s Amanda, & today I am sharing a super sweet Halloween decor item that makes for a spook-tacular gift!

I LOVE Halloween, and the new Spooky Boo collection is just perfect for Halloween cards, decor & memory keeping!

Here’s the gift I’m sharing today…..

Trick or Treat!!!

 How fun is this?!!

Not everyone in my neighborhood celebrates this holiday, so to let Trick Or Treaters know if it’s ok to visit, we all hang a wreath, banner or decorative item on our front doors. I thought this cute door hanger would be a perfect gift for our new neighbors across the street. I hope they like it!

Here’s how to make one of your own….

Start by trimming a sheet of chipboard into a 5″ wide triangle with an 8″ point. Cover both sides with your fave papers from the Spooky Boo collection. I chose the reverse side of HOCUS POCUS for the front side, and SWEET TOOTH for the back. Use your We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile, or similar tool, to punch holes in the top corners of the triangle.

To add that ‘Halloween’ feel, (& hide those ugly chipboard edges) apply METALLIC CREAM CHALK in black to the edges of the triangle.

Insert burlap ribbon into the holes, tying it off with knots to create the ‘handle’. I use burlap as it’s quite sturdy and won’t perish easily! Use 1″wide black ribbon to create the fancy concertina trim at the top of the triangle.

Kinda looks like a carrot as this stage, but once we start embellishing the triangle you’ll barely see that orange base!

Embellish with faux spiders web (stretched cotton wool), and one of the smaller WALL BATS in the center of the triangle.

Next, foam mount PRINTED CARDSTOCK SHAPES on top of one another to create a focal point. I love the framed witch silhouette supported by the little bat ephemera, but there are tons of options in the PRINTED CARDSTOCK SHAPES pack to choose from!

Here’s a closer look for you…..

Lookin’ boo-tiful already! But it really needs more…….

For my gift, the ‘Trick Or Treat’ sentiment is a perfect adornment to the top of my decorative door hanger, but again many of the PRINTED CARDSTOCK SHAPES or 6″ x 12″ ACCENT STICKERS would work for personalizing your decor!

I also tuck a few PRINTED CARDSTOCK SHAPES into the top of the focal point. Now it’s starting to look super spooky!!!

Add more ribbon & trim to the ‘handle’, as well as a length of ribbon at the triangle point. Adorn the ribbon with more cobwebs, and for finishing touches attach those fabulously freaky WALL SPIDERS.

Witches, spiders, bats, & pumpkins – totally CREEPIN IT REAL!!!

Here’s how it looks hanging on the door…..

Say Boo!

A spook-tacular Halloween gift that really does say Boo!

I hope I have inspired you to get started on your Halloween crafts with the new Spooky Boo collection today!

Thanks so much for visiting,

Happy Arty Days, Amanda xo

Halloween Bat Treat Boxes

It’s still toasty outside, but my autumn-loving heart is already starting to plan Halloween parties, treats, and all sorts of fun!  I’ve seen similar projects in the past and I knew this was my year to create some fun Halloween Bat Treat Boxes with the new “Spooky Boo” collection.  They turned out pretty cute and they were so easy to create, they’d be perfect for an entire class or a whole neighborhood – and best of all, the kids could help make them too!

Here’s how easy they are!

First, cut a pillow boxes from patterned paper.

Use a strong adhesive to secure the box edge.  You can add treats now or add them later.

Cut a tag from the “Let’s Party” paper:

Use the tag as a template to cut two additional tags from coordinating papers:

Stack the tags and staple them together at the top:

Now you’ll want to cover the staple.  Choose a sticker or a printed die-cut from the collection.

Use foam adhesive dots on the back of the sticker:

And place the sticker directly over the staple:

Add the stacked tags to the top of the pillow box with strong adhesive.

I chose to use the glittered wall bats from the collection to add to my boxes.  You could also cut bat wings from black cardstock or patterned paper.

Use a strong adhesive to attach the box over the body of the bat:

That’s it!  So easy, right??

Repeat, repeat, and repeat – create a few or a dozen or more!
