Snow Globe Ornaments

Hi everyone! Amanda here today with a quick and easy holiday ornament that you can use to dress up your own tree or use as a sweet holiday gift.

Handmade ornaments are one of my favorite joys of the season. In our house we like to make ornaments for our own tree, as well as give them as gifts to others. With a few basic crafting supplies and some adorable Winter Wonderland stickers, you can put together some charming holiday ornaments. The little snowmen and critters are perfectly sized for a 3″ clear plastic ornament that you can find at nearly every craft store this time of year.

I can hardly stand the cuteness of this little wintry fox.

This little snowman, with his face pointed toward the sky almost looks as though he is playing in the snow. There are plenty of snowmen in the Winter Wonderland collection to just make a collection of snowman ornaments.

I can tell my cat is really going to like knocking this one out of the tree.

To make the snow globe ornaments you will need: Clear plastic ornaments, Winter Wonderland stickers, foam adhesive, scrap cardstock, and fake snow. You may also want ribbon to add a pretty bow and some string to create a hanger. TIP: I keep my fake snow in a repurposed Parmesan cheese container. It makes it super easy to sprinkle snow wherever needed.

Start by “un-stickying” your stickers. This will keep the fake snow from sticking to everything. Wendy Sue shares an easy technique for removing stickiness from stickers HERE. Then stack a few foam circles to the back of your sticker. This will allow your trees to pop off of the back of the ornament. Cut one foam sticker in half so the foam follows the curve of the ornament.

After you have stacked foam adhesive on the back of your tree stickers, position the trees on the back of the ornament, a little to the left or a little to the right, depending on how you want to set up your scene.

Create a little stand out of scrap cardstock and adhere it to the back of your snowman or critter. Adhere the stand to the bottom middle of your ornament half.

Shake a little bit of show into your ornament until it is about 1/2″ deep. Snap the two halves of the ornament together and add a decorative ribbon.  TIP: Secure snow globes by adding a dab of glue (I used E6000) to the top and bottom of the snow globe halves. This will keep little hands (and cats) from breaking them in half.

Mini Wreath Ornaments

I love looking at thematic, color coordinated Christmas trees, but nothing brings me as much joy as the hodge-podge of handmade ornaments that adorn our family Christmas tree.  Each one brings back sweet Christmas memories.  Every year I add to the mix by making new handmade ornaments.  Inspired in part by a broken embroidery hoop I had laying around in my craft room, I decided to make mini wreath ornaments this year.

Mini Wreath Ornaments by @popperandmimi using @PebblesInc Home for Christmas collectionHoliday wreaths come in a wide variety of themes and can be made out of just about any material.   I had some fun with patterned paper from the Home for Christmas collection and put together a couple of mini wreath ornaments for the Christmas tree.

Mini Wreath Ornaments by @popperandmimi using @PebblesInc Home for Christmas collectionI am a sucker for red and white striped peppermints.  Using regular ol’ circle punches (3/4″ and 1/2″) I punched out several peppermints from a sheet of 12″x12″ paper and adhered them to a DIY wreath base (below).  I adhered a satin bow and made a loop by adhering a piece of ribbon to the back of the ornament.

Mini Wreath Ornaments by @popperandmimi using @PebblesInc Home for Christmas collectionI added some texture and dimension to the wreath by popping up the smaller punched peppermints with foam.  And although I had fully intended to save them for “later”, I also added some peppermint enamel dots.  Aren’t they yummy?

Mini Wreath Ornaments by @popperandmimi using @PebblesInc Home for Christmas collectionIf you don’t have a mini embroidery hoop to use as your ornament base, die cut several rings from chipboard and adhere them together to make a sturdy wreath base.  So easy.

Mini Wreath Ornaments by @popperandmimi using @PebblesInc Home for Christmas collectionHaving made full-size paper leaf wreaths before, I thought it would be fun to shrink everything down and make a mini paper leaf wreath ornament.  I simply punched a bunch of holly leaves from patterned paper and adhered them to an embroidery hoop.  Voila!

Mini Wreath Ornaments by @popperandmimi using @PebblesInc Home for Christmas collectionAfter gluing the broken embroidery hoop back together, I affixed glue dots around the hoop in small sections.  Starting near the top of the hoop, I adhered the leaves to the glue dots, making sure to vary the orientation of the leaves as I went along.  Don’t forget to add a pretty bow.

Hi Pebbles friends – it’s Wendy Sue here today, sharing a really fun and easy ornament project that is perfect to create for this holiday season!  These star ornaments are festive and fun and easy enough for the kiddos to help.  You can use them as an ornament, a gift topper, or even all strung together to create a garland.

Are you ready to see how easy-peasy they are?
Here’s what you’ll need to create them:

Star Ornaments by @wendysuea using the #homeforchristmas collection by @PebblesInc.You’ll need a score board, patterned papers, chalkboard seals, liquid glue, 1/16″ hole punch, baker’s twine, and a star die-cut or scissors to cut your own!

Step 1:  Cut star shapes out of patterned papers.  I made mine about 7″ across.

Step 2: Score the star from each tip all the way down, for a total of five score lines:

Step 3: Fold on the score lines, accordion style – hills from the points to the center, valleys in between:

Step 4: Now use the little hole punch to punch one hole in the bottom “valley” and two holes near the top point:

Step 5: Cut a length of baker’s twine and loop the top, tying a secure knot:

Step 6: Now thread the baker’s twine through the holes in the star:

Step 7: Add some liquid glue over the holes to secure the twine.  Otherwise when the star is hanging it will slowly slide down the twine:

Step 8:  Add two chalkboard envelope seals, back-to-back, with the twine sandwiched in the middle:

Trim off the excess twine and hang them up on your tree:

Home For Christmas Ornament Gift Tags

Hello there!  It’s Mendi here today with some Holiday tags to share that were designed to double as ornaments.  I think these would be the perfect addition to tie to the top of some fresh-baked goodies for your neighbors, teachers or friends!

Christmas Tag Ornaments by Mendi Yoshikawa using the #HomeForChristmas collection from @PebblesInc. @SnippetsByMendi

I thought it would be fun to create special cards to include with my gifts that were a bit sturdier and made to last.  To achieve this I die-cut my tag shapes twice from my patterned paper (one for each side of the tag) and then again from chipboard to sandwich in the middle.

For the tag with all straight edges I was able to cut it from a heavy cardstock and then easily take my scissors to cut along the impression for the parts that didn’t cut all the way through.  For the scalloped tag I didn’t want to have to try to cut around all those curves so I cut multiple tags from a much thinner chipboard and then glued them together with a liquid adhesive.

From there I was able to decorate each tag to my heart’s content.  I had so much fun mixing the different patterned papers from the collection and embellishing each one with various jewels and ribbon bows.

I made sure to add a date to each of my tags to make it a bit more special.  You can also use the wonderful Icon & Phrase Stickers from the collection to add your “to” and “from” info to the back of each tag as well.

For the tags that I stitched on, I found it easiest to embellish my tags and then glue the layers together after I had decorated them.

I think including a special wallet sized photo from the holiday season helps make these an even sweeter keepsake!

I hope I’ve inspired you to create some ornament gift tags of your own!  They are the perfect rainy day activity and are a great holiday project to do with your kids as well!
