Family Tradition Layout

One of my resolutions for this bright new year is to document some of the photos and memories that have been stacking up on my bookcase. The “This is Family” collection was a perfect match for documenting a photo taken a few years ago at my husband’s annual winter family party!

This collection has a huge array of colors and patterns, but I wanted to keep it simple, so I chose black and white with pops of yellow and orange from the papers and embellishments.

There is obviously a variety of “family” themed pieces in this collection so it worked great for my needs.

You’ll also spy a bit of machine stitching around the edges of the patterned papers – I just can’t help myself! It’s a fun way to add a bit of unexpected texture as well as a pop of color to a project.

Well, how about YOU? Do you have a stack of photos and memories waiting to be recorded and added to your albums? Why not start today? Grab a family photo and the “This is Family” collection and see what you can whip up! Your family will thank you!!

New Year, New Me

Hey all!
It’s Terhi here. Before going to my scrapbook layout, I need to make sure you saw the post here from yesterday? New releases are here!
I can’t wait to see all!

This layout is made with Happy Cake Day. As you can see, as good as it is with making cards it’s also perfect for scrapbooking.

The layout tells about my thoughts, goals and ideas for the year 2020. I don’t do New Year’s resolutions as such, but I like to think and dream all that I might see and do during the new year.
As many times before, I’ve written the journaling to the backside of the layout this time too. Otherwise you wouldn’t be able to see anything other than the text! Scrapbook layouts I do for myself about myself are always going to separate album, which is like a huge diary for me.
Now that I have written my goals and thoughts down, I can go back and see how it all went after this year is over.

I created the layout with only couple patterned papers and few embellishments. The rolled flowers are always a good idea, as they give so much depth for the layout. And surely the green leaves goes well with the flowers.

As there’s quite much height difference between the background and rolled flowers, I added couple strings of thick cotton thread to make it look better. This is also a reason why I used more foam dots than glue.

I wish your 2020 is bright and colourful!

New Year’s Inspiration Cards!

Hello Friends! It’s Leanne here today to share a few cards to help keep your New Year’s Resolutions in check! Or maybe to encourage someone else who is on a journey of change and discovery!! Either way, these fun little cards promote self esteem and hopefully motivation!

Create motivational cards with @PebblesInc and @leanne_allinson to help start the New Year!

Card #1 | Happy DayCreate motivational cards with @PebblesInc and @leanne_allinson to help start the New Year!

I chose the Warm & Cozy patterned papers for this card, in particular for the arrows. To me, nothing says “moving forward” more than an arrow or two! The card base is a piece of white cardstock trimmed to 6″x8″ and then folded in half to 6″x4″. Strips of 1″ patterned paper are used for the basket weave effect. To have the arrows point in different directions, the paper strips are trimmed at 1″ intervals and then adhered to a separate piece of cardstock, on the diagonal. This creates an illusion of a basket weave. Trim to size and mount with a second piece of coordinating patterned paper.

Complete the card with fussy cut flowers and a “happy day” sticker sentiment.

Card #2 | Enjoy The Little Thingspebblesinc_leanne-allinson_cards_inspiration_09

Enjoying the little things can mean exactly that! I want to give this card to a friend to help keep them motivated with their New Year’s Resolutions. I want her to recognise that even the smallest of steps and achievements should be celebrated. This simple card was created with layers in mind. As soon as I saw the 2″x2″ cut apart sentiment from Cozy Sentiments Patterned Paper, I knew I wanted to use it in a motivational way. The white cardstock base is 6″x8″ folded in half to create a 6″x4″ card. I’ve trimmed the Fallen Leaves patterned paper to allow a small white border around the layers and then mounted it with a second patterned paper that mimics the sentiment print. To allow the sentiment to stand out, I’ve mounted it directly onto a small piece of white cardstock, to create a border around its edge.

Card #3 | Yes You Can pebblesinc_leanne-allinson_cards_inspiration_11

Card #3 has the most obvious encouragement induced sentiment. The phrase was created using Imprint Thickers on a 2″x3.5″ piece of cardstock. The gold foil complements the gold accent of the fussy cut wreath branch. Layering the Tartan patterned paper below the gold foil, draws attention to the motivational sentiment.

What Can I Do?

Hey there Pebbles friends and fans, Becki here. Can you believe it’s already 2017?!?! In some ways it seems like 2016 flew by and in other ways it seems like time moved so s.l.o.w.l.y. As a new year arrives many of us are making resolutions and “one little word” to focus on throughout the year. This year, I chose to focus on a phrase. The phrase I want to focus on is, “what can I do?” There are a LOT of ways I want to work this phrase into my life over the next 12 months. I created a layout that I will display in my office as a reminder of my goal.

New Years Resolutions Layout by @jbckadams for @pebblesinc #scrapbooking #madewithPebbles #resolutions

I gathered patterned papers from a few recent Pebbles collections, a few embellishments (from the Spring Fling collection), and some cardstock. I chose light pastel patterns. I wanted this layout to have a really clean, light feeling.

New Years Resolutions Layout by @jbckadams for @pebblesinc #scrapbooking #madewithPebbles #resolutions

I started by planning my layout with the cut files in the software for my electronic die cutting machine. Then, I cut the pieces out. I cut the word “can” out of the center of a white piece of cardstock and the rest of the words out of grey cardstock.

New Years Resolutions Layout by @jbckadams for @pebblesinc #scrapbooking #madewithPebbles #resolutions

I backed the letters “can” with patterned paper. I added a piece of vellum over the yellow paper in the “n” to soften the tone of yellow slightly to match my other patterned papers.

New Years Resolutions Layout by @jbckadams for @pebblesinc #scrapbooking #madewithPebbles #resolutionsI kept the embellishments on this layout to a minimum because I really wanted the focus to be on the words. The word “can” is the largest so it would be the main focus of the layout.

I added some machine stitching to add some texture and to keep the die cuts in place. I added three embellishment clusters on on either side of the title and one below the title/journaling.

New Years Resolutions Layout by @jbckadams for @pebblesinc #scrapbooking #madewithPebbles #resolutions

I stitched all three embellishment clusters in place. The last step on this layout was the few sprinkles of gold ink at the top and the bottom of the layout. Once the ink was dry, I could hang the layout in my office as a daily reminder of my goals.

Happy New Year! Thanks for stopping by today!

Card Making and New Year Resolutions

Hi friends!  It’s Wendy Sue here today, and I am excited to share a little project (combining my love of card making and new year resolutions) I’ve been working on.  With the new year beginning, I, like many of you, have been re-evaluating my life, my priorities, and my goals.  One of my resolutions, or goals for 2017 is to be more grateful…and not just passively, but actively.  I’ve created a list of things I will work on to become a more grateful person, and one of the things on my list is to TELL people that I am grateful for them.  I want to be better about expressing my gratitude for people and their actions, both large and small.  One way I will do this is by mailing or delivering “thank you” cards regularly.  To get started, I created a beautiful set of cards!

New Year Resolution: Be Grateful and Express more gratitude. @WendySue created this fun set of "thank you" cards with the "Fall Friends" collection by @PebblesInc to get started!

By clipping the cards onto this cute little clipboard and hanging it up near my desk, I will be reminded constantly of my desire to be grateful, and to express it!

Here’s a look at my cards and how I made them.

Start by cutting a 4″ x 5 1/2″ base from patterned paper:

Cut a 2″ x 5 1/2″ block of coordinating paper and adhere it to the top or bottom of the base:

Here’s one of my BEST tips: Use a small hole punch (this is the 1/16″ punch from We R Memory Keepers to create a little notch where I want the twine to wrap around my card:

See?  Now the twine won’t slip and I can tie a nice bow without it sliding around!

Now add die-cuts or stickers to embellish (I always use plenty of foam squares for dimension):

Use a metal die or a digital die to cut out “thanks” or “thank you” or whatever sentiment you’d like.  I will be cutting a bunch of these to have ready to put on cards.

After the sentiment is added, place the entire piece on a card (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) cut from coordinating cardstock.

Repeat the process several times.  Attach the cards to a cute mini clipboard and hang (or place) where you will see it often and remember to express gratitude to those around you!
