Hello everyone, it’s Eva on the blog today sharing a quick tutorial on how to create a cute desk mini calendar using the Happy Cake Day.

Create a cute mini calendar for next year with this tutorial from @evapizarrov using the #HappyCakeDay line from @pebblesinc

Next year is just around the corner and now it is the perfect time to create a cute calendar to decorate your desk or to give as a handmade gift.

The Happy Day Cake is a gorgeous line with a colorful palette, the sentiments are perfect for a calendar and to highlight the special dates during the year.

To create this calendar cut papers from the 6 x 8 paper pad.

My pages are 3.25 x 5 inch wide and fit a small calendar and a 2,5 inch square photo.

Use Thickers to create the month titles, three banners are the perfect length!

The last step is to decorate the months with some stickers and ephemera from the Happy Cake Day Collection.

To bind everything together use your Crop a Dile a make a small 1/8 inch hole in the middle of each page.

The only page that it is a bit different is the cover. I used a cute rainbow die cut and some Thickers to create my tile. The gold stars at the end were the perfect touch!

I love how quick and easy this project was! The Happy day Cake color palette was perfect for my photos and the calendar will look gorgeous on my desk.

New Year, New Beginnings! Focus on creating.

Hello Pebbles Friends! I’m so excited and honoured to be back for another creative year with Pebbles! And of course, with the new year comes so many new possibilities and new beginnings. Today I want to share a layout that expresses my intended goals for 2018.

New Year, New Beginnings layout with @PebblesInc #GirlSquad

At the start of each new year I always have good intentions but not necessarily the motivation to follow through. This time of year is always extremely busy and in Australia, we are also dealing with the end of Summer Holidays and a return to a new school year.

My idea with this layout was to start fresh with the gorgeous Girl Squad collection. I love the motivation phrases and positive outlook it can inspire. Originally I was going to have a white cardstock background, but the pink Girl Squad patterned paper just brings life to the overall page. The first step is to trim the patterned paper to allow a small border of white cardstock to show around the outside edge. Next, machine stitch on top of the paper to help secure it to the cardstock.

Next, cut out four or five sections from the You Got This Patterned Paper so it resembles pocket page filler cards. To fit my page, I had to trim each card separately along the length. The cards are narrow but the fit is easier on the eye!

To create the journaling card, I have used the reverse side of You Got This. To ground this element to my page I wanted something heavier on the top. The fold over flap has been secured with tape on the back and a paperclip to prevent the journaling becoming permanently obscured. Check out the photo step by step below..

Add the constructed journaling card to the layout and start to build the layers of patterned paper around it. Leave the center area clean for title placement.

The We R Memory Keepers mini Alphabet Punchboard is the perfect tool to create your own title work. By selecting coordinating patterned paper from the Girl Squad Mini Paper Pad, the title has zeroed in on the purpose of creating this layout.

Overlap and layer the title with the existing paper clusters on your page to create a consistent flow.

For dimension and definition, mount some paper elements with foam tape to offer interest to the viewers eye.

Complete your layout with a few colour coordinated visual triangles with the help of the Girl Squad ephemera paper pieces.

Thanks for visiting the Pebbles blog today.

Upcycled Craft Room Organization

Happy New Year! Amanda here today. Like many of you, one of my goals in the new year is to de-clutter and become more organized, especially in my craft room. One of my go-to organizing techniques is upcycling everyday items to use as craft room storage and organization.

With crafting comes a lot of little items–embellishments, tools, adhesives–that can get lost in the shuffle if not properly organized. Upcycling common household items is an easy and inexpensive (practially free!) way to get a handle on the bits and bobbles that can overrun your craft space.

Although it is hiding in the upper left hand corner of this photograph, cans wrapped with patterned paper make the most perfect pencil cups (or home décor or gift containers).

One of my favorite items to upcycle and use as storage containers on my desk are plain, ol’ soup cans. Cans of all sizes have a purpose in my craft room. I keep most of my small tools and supplies in paint dipped soup cans on back of my desk. Make your own paint dipped soup cans by wrapping a can with painters tape and adding two coats of acrylic paint.

Plastic powdered drink containers are also a favorite of mine. I glued several containers together to created a stacked pencil holder. Positioned on its side, this pencil holder allows me to easily see all of my writing utensils in their various colors. TIP: Use a liquid adhesive suitable for plastic when adhering the containers together.

Empty jars are also a favorite of mine. They are great for storing collections of small embellishments like buttons, or for corralling collections of stamps or larger embellishments. TIP: Spray paint the lids for a cohesive look.

Although this pegboard is not upcycled, it is the most handy organization piece I have in my craft room.  To help maximize space, I hung a shelf on the bottom of my pegboard and use it to hold upcycled containers filled with pencils and straws.

What are some of your tried and true craft room organizing techniques? Happy organized New Year to you!

My Word for 2016

Hey there, Becki here, to share a layout I created documenting my goals for 2016. Last year at the very same time I shared with you a mini album that I created documenting my favorite memories from 2014. The project I have to share with you today is simply a layout documenting my word for 2016.

Becki Adams_Cultivate_1

Each year I chose one word that I want to focus on for the entire year. I put a lot of thought into the word I chose each year. At the end of December I make a list of words that I like and that are a possibility for my word for the new year.

Becki Adams_Cultivate_2

I used bits and pieces from the DIY Home collection to create this layout.

Becki Adams_Cultivate_3

For 2016 I chose the word “cultivate”.  I chose cultivate for many reasons but mostly because I feel like I’ve built a strong foundation for myself in many areas. Now, I feel like it’s time to cultivate on the foundation that I’ve built. I created this layout, not be put in an album, but to be displayed in my office.

Becki Adams_CultivateThe journaling on this layout reads:
Cultivate…relationships
Cultivate…creativity
Cultivate…health
Cultivate…love
Cultivate…happiness
Cultivate…joy
Cultivate…dreams

Becki Adams_Cultivate_5

I added this circle I cut from a piece of patterned paper. I truly do believe amazing things will happen in 2016. I wanted this element to take a prominent place on my layout .

Becki Adams_Cultivate_4

I will display this layout in my office to keep my word at the forefront of my thoughts throughout the year. Do you have a word to focus on in 2016? Do you make New Year’s Resolutions?
