Celebrate With Happy Hooray Mini Birthday Cards

Hello Pebbles friends! It’s Monique here with you today sharing the many birthday cards I created with the fabulous new Happy Hooray collection.

I was thrilled when I received this collection! I’m a huge fan of bright colors and cute designs. I also love creating birthday layouts and cards.

For today’s blog post, I created 18 mini birthday cards in one afternoon. I have created a collection of mini cards before, using the beautiful Heart of Home collection and often wished I had birthday cards as well. When I saw this collection, I knew straight away what I was going to create.

Happy Hooray birthday mini cards created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Happy_Hooray_collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #happy_hooray_birthday_mini_cards

All I needed to create these Happy Hooray Mini Birthday Cards was the sheet of patterned paper called “Party Time” and cardstock pieces from the American Crafts “Primaries” textured cardstock pack.

Happy Hooray birthday mini cards created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Happy_Hooray_collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #happy_hooray_birthday_mini_cards

I started by cutting apart all the images and selecting eighteen of them.  Once that was done, I matted them on a piece of cardstock.

Happy Hooray birthday mini cards created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Happy_Hooray_collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #happy_hooray_birthday_mini_cards

I stitched all the sides using my sewing machine before adhering them on a cardstock cardbase.

The squares measure 5 cm x 5 cm and the finished (square) cards measure approx. 6.5 cm x 6.5 cm. The rectangular images measure twice the size of the squares, so they are 5 cm x 10 cm and the finished cards measure approx. 6.5 cm x 12 cm. As the cards are so small, I decided against adding any more embellishments.

The Happy Hooray Mini Birthday Cards can be used to accent gifts or gift boxes, flowers or potted plants, but can (of course!) be used to send in an envelope by mail as well. I also plan to put the “you’re special” and “yay you” mini cards in my kids’ lunch boxes one day so they’ll find them during their lunch breaks. I’m sure they’ll love them!

When my stash of Happy Hooray Mini Birthday Cards was ready, I used the We R Memory Keepers Shadow Box Clip Frame again to showcase them.  I also added two Happy Hooray Cake Toppers for fun. Doesn’t it look festive?!

I “only” used eighteen of the images of the “Party Time” sheet, but I definitely plan on using the other nine images to create mini cards as well!

Thank you so much for stopping by our blog!  The Happy Hooray collection is SO close to being in your hands! I can’t wait for you to get your turn to create!

Back To School Cards Inspiration

Hello Pebbles fans! It’s Monique with you today. I love making cards—in fact, I make them for almost every occasion. Creating these particular cards was special as I made them for my kids. I think it’s such a shame the summer break is already over. I have really enjoyed having all three kids home for a longer period of time. Having said that, I secretly have to admit that I’m also looking forward to them going back to school, especially both of my boys (they tend to spend way too much time behind their computers playing games!).

For their first day at school/college/uni, I decided to create a card for each one of them to put into their school bags as a surprise.  That way, when they take out their books or laptop, they will find it and know I’m thinking of them.

Here are the “Back to School” cards I created for them using the fabulous Girl Squad collection:

What I love about Pebbles’ Girl Squad collection is that it can easily be used to create projects for boys as well. I created the pink card for my daughter (obviously) and the blue and yellow ones for my boys. For those of you who want to know how I made them, here’s a quick tutorial.

To Begin:

Cut a piece of cardstock measuring 4″ x 12″; fold it in half (the cards measure 4″ x 6″).  Cut two strips of patterned paper: one measuring 2″x 6″ and the other 0.5″ x 6″.  You’ll also need Thickers words, washi tape, die-cuts, (puffy) stickers, enamel dots and a white Sharpie.

Here is a collage of the step-by-step directions:

Back to School cards inspiration created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Girl_Squad_collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #back_to_school_cards

  1. Fold the piece of cardstock in half and cover the bottom with the 2″ x 6″ strip of patterned paper.
  2. Add the 0.5″ x 6″ strip of patterned paper to the top of paper from step 1; also add a piece of washi tape beneath.
  3. Glue a die-cut in the top right corner and adhere one of Thickers words above the patterned paper.
  4. Add one of the smaller die-cuts in the bottom left corner and (in this case) a sticker above the Thickers word.
  5. Create a little cluster in the bottom left corner by adding three enamel dots and a die-cut. Add a puffy sticker as well, overlapping half onto the sticker above the Thickers word.
  6. Last but not least, use a white pen to doodle a line along the edge of the top half of the card.

That’s it!

I used this same concept for all three cards and I really like how they turned out. Hope you do too!

Here are all three of them together:

The “Go Girl” card is for my daughter, who starts her second year in university (she wants to become a teacher):

The yellow card is for my oldest son, who starts his second year in college (he is studying for a job in IT, like his dad):

The third card, the blue one, is for my youngest, who starts his first year in High School and is so happy he finally belongs to the “big” kids group too!

I am so blessed with my three kids and really loved creating these “Back to School” cards for them. I can already imagine their faces when they find them.

Strike a Pose Summer Vacation

Hi everyone! It’s Monique here today, sharing my Summer Vacation layout with the bright and happy Sunshiny Days collection. The photos I scrapped were taken only last week during our vacation in the south of France. When I saw this picture of my daughter, it reminded me very strongly of a flamingo. The south of France is known for it’s large population of flamingos (the Camarque), but that pose… doesn’t the bent leg remind you of the pose of a flamingo? I knew straight away what I wanted to do with my page.  What better collection to use than the Sunshiny Days collection, complete with the large variety of flamingos!

Strike A Pose: The Flamingo!

Sunshiny Days Summer Vacation Layout created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Sunshiny_Days collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #summer_vacation_scrapbook_layout

I started by looking on the internet for a drawing of a flamingo that I could use as a template for my “Strike A Pose” layout. I wanted to stitch a large flamingo without using my Silhouette. I typed in “flamingo”, clicked on “images” and chose this one:

Before I printed it off, I resized the bird to 9″. Next, I placed the printed image on a sheet of white American Crafts cardstock and used two small pieces of washi tape to temporarily adhere it in place.  Afterwards, I started piercing holes in my cardstock:

When I was done, I selected four different colors of pink embroidery thread to use. As a real life flamingo consists of more shades of pink than only just one, I wanted to use more than just one pink color as well.

Here’s my stitched flamingo. I started with the lightest pink first and ended with the darkest shade:

An oversized title:

Because of the large size of the flamingo, I decided to add a very large title as well. I used the Mini Alphabet Punch Board from We R Memory Keepers to punch the word “Summer” from the “Summer Day” paper:

Time to Embellish:

The inside of the flamingo definitely needed a bit of color so I used “pinkish” watercolor paint to do this. While I was at it, I decided I might as well add a few pink paint drops as well. Next, I matted the two photos and placed a few chipboard elements, die-cuts and stickers on my layout:

The journaling and the date stamp came next as well as two word stickers from the “Tealightful” collection. After adding a fun sand castle with a tiny flamingo peeking out, I decided the layout was finished!

I really love how this Summer Vacation layout turned out! I find the resemblance between the two poses of both my daughter and the flamingo very striking!

Summer Holiday Projects | A Fun and Funky Girl Squad Journal

Have any projects to help with your summer holidays? With our next one in mind, I decided to create a travel journal—one that I could easily bring with me and that needed only a couple of pictures and handwritten stories to complete.Hello Pebbles fans! It’s Monique with you today, sharing a Fun and Funky Girl Squad Journal! When brainstorming how I wanted to put things together, I needed the embellishing mostly done so that a few stickers and washi tapes would be enough to bring along with me. What I find so fabulous about the Girl Squad collection is that it can be used for almost every occasion. When you look at my album, you see that it’s not a travel album just yet—my photos and texts will make it that—but I could also easily turn the album into a family or girls-weekend-out album… the possibilities are endless! The journal includes 20 different pages & 2 tags; it measures 5.5″ x 8″.

Here’s a photo of the cover of my “Fun and Funky Girl Squad Journal”. I just love all the papers, die-cuts, stickers and washi tape in this collection!

Funky Girl Squad Journal created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Girl_Squad_collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #funky_girl_squad_journal #mini_album

Before I got started on my project, I gathered everything I thought I would need, including a piece of heavy cardboard for the front and back of my journal and my Zutter to punch the holes.

Funky Girl Squad Journal created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Girl_Squad_collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #funky_girl_squad_journal #mini_album

I’ve used almost every patterned paper from the Girl Squad collection for my album, as they are all equally fabulous!

Let me show you a couple of pages from my journal. Here’s the first page. I left most of the left side blank as I want to adhere a large photo there. From the right page (the first of four tab pages), I cut out a large ampersand and adhered it in the same spot on one of the next pages.

Every page in this Funky Girl Squad Journal is different. The sizes, patterns, forms… everything is different. In the photo below, you can see I stitched a triangle in one corner to create a space for all the bits and pieces I tend to collect during my vacations. Have you seen that coffee cup paper? Isn’t it awesome?!

I have also included a few products from other Pebbles collections, like this foiled sheet w/gold from the Simple Life collection and the word stickers from the Tealightful collection:

From the “You Got This” paper, I created a bag with a tag inside by folding the paper in two and stitching the sides closed. The outside of the bag is perfect for journaling.

How I love that bicycle paper!!

When my album was finished, I realized that I had been inspired by the mini albums by Amy Tangerine. If you look them up, you’ll see just what I mean.

This is it! My Funky Girl Squad Journal. I’m going to use it for a travel journal in the south of France.  Together with my Instax camera and some stickers and washi tape, I’ll journal all the fun memories we make. I’ll make sure to show you the result as soon as it’s finished.

A Sunshiny Days Sweet Summer Sand Castle

Hello Pebbles friends! It’s Monique here today sharing my Sunshiny Days Summer DIY project: a Sand Castle! Does anything get better than sandcastles on the beach? Why yes! Candy-filled sandcastles!

Once I saw the sand castle cut file in the Silhouette Store, I knew I wanted to try it out.  When I heard that the theme for this week was “Pool/Beach Days,” it took me 2 seconds to decide what to make: a Summer Sweets Sand Castle! Look how fun it turned out!

Sweet Summer Sand Castle created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Sunshiny_Days collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #sweet_summer_sand_castle #sweets_sand_castle

For the base of the sweets sand castle, I used American Crafts light yellow cardstock from the cardstock Spring pack.  I used five different patterned papers & lots of stickers (including cardstock, chipboard AND puffy stickers). Initially I thought I would use the die-cuts too, but they were too large for this project.

I began by cutting out all the different pieces from the sand castle cut file ( #139538 from the Silhouette Store) and put them in front of me on my dining room table.

Sweet Summer Sand Castle created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Sunshiny_Days collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #sweet_summer_sand_castle #sweets_sand_castle

Next, I folded all the parts to get the dimension started:

Sweet Summer Sand Castle created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Sunshiny_Days collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #sweet_summer_sand_castle #sweets_sand_castle

To glue the parts together, I used a little liquid glue. I have to admit in the beginning, after cutting out all the separate parts, I doubted my decision to create the sand castle.  How was I going to put it together! Once the first few pieces came together, I could totally see how it would finish! It came together with just a little effort after that.Sweet Summer Sand Castle created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Sunshiny_Days collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #sweet_summer_sand_castle #sweets_sand_castle

Attaching the sides of the three towers together:

Sweet Summer Sand Castle created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Sunshiny_Days collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #sweet_summer_sand_castle #sweets_sand_castle

Adhering the patterned paper to the front & back of the cardstock:

Sweet Summer Sand Castle created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Sunshiny_Days collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #sweet_summer_sand_castle #sweets_sand_castle

After gluing the front & back sand castle shapes to the the three towers (as well as both patterned paper sides), the sand castle was more or less done. I made two flags (what is a castle without a flag, right?) and embellished the sand castle with many of various fabulous Sunshiny Days stickers (cardstock, chipboard and puffy)to finish it off just right:

Sweet Summer Sand Castle created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Sunshiny_Days collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #sweet_summer_sand_castle #sweets_sand_castle

The darling chipboard flamingo had to be included!

Sweet Summer Sand Castle created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Sunshiny_Days collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #sweet_summer_sand_castle #sweets_sand_castle

The only thing left to do was fill the left and right towers with sweets!

Sweet Summer Sand Castle created by @moniqueliedtke with the #Sunshiny_Days collection by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #sweet_summer_sand_castle #sweets_sand_castle

I so adore the result! The sand castle turned out even better than I had in mind beforehand! I loved the cut file straight away, but the finished project looks so much more fun with the awesome Pebbles Sunshiny Days collection! Can’t wait to hear what you think!
