Make Pinwheels With Your Kids

Hello Pebbles friends! Marcia back today with another craft you can do with your kids. When I was little, my Mom showed me how to make a pinwheel. Pinwheels are fun. You can play with them. Learn about wind. Even use them to decorate with. You probably already have all the supplies you need at home too.

They look awesome in a vase. You could even use them for party favors.

Change the paper and you get completely different looks. I used different pattern papers from the Pebbles Sun & Fun collection.

Here is how you can make them too.

Supplies needed:
paper
pencil
ruler
scissors
a straw
a long stemmed brad.

1 Select your pattern paper. You want the front and back to coordinate well as you will see both sides. It’s ok to use a paper pad even where the back side is white. Cut the paper into a 6″x6″ square. Draw a line lightly in pencil diagonally from corner to corner, and repeat with the other corners. Then measure from each corner along the line and make a mark at 2 1/2″.

2. Use a hole punch to make a hole in the middle of the square where the 2 lines intersect. Then make 4 more holes just to the left of each corner near the edge.

3. Using a scissors, cut up from each corner following the penciled line to the pencil marking 2 1/2″. Erase the penciled lines.

Take the brad and insert it through the corner holes one at a time. Then insert it through the hole in the middle.

After you push the brad through the straw, open up the brad prongs, leaving enough space so you can still turn the pinwheel.

Enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you’ll try making pinwheels with your kids too.

Summer Shaped Cards

Hello Pebbles friends! Marcia here today. I thought it would be fun to create some shaped cards with the Pebbles Sun & Fun collection. I love creating shaped cards. I think they add a little whimsy to any occasion.

The inspiration for my surfboard card was all the adorable die cut ephemera kids in bathing attire. I thought surfboards would make a cool backdrop for them. I used a SVGcuts cut file. This card opens almost in the middle, with two surfboards on the left and one on the right of the opening.

I popped the die cuts up with foam dots for dimension and even added a fussy cut beach ball. There are a number of different sentiments in the ephemera pack that fit lots of different occasions. Puffy dot stickers add more dimension.

The “You’re One In A Melon” journal card inspired this next card. The watermelon slice was a Silhouette cut file. By duplicating the shape and welding the two slices together at the top, I was able to create my very own watermelon card.

The die cut watermelon in the ephemera pack was popped up on foam and attached to the front of this card. Once again, I added some puffy dot stickers for dimension.

Why not create a summer card yourself and send off to brighten someone’s day. Thanks for stopping by.

Just Me – Marcia

Hello Pebbles friends! Marcia here today. Each designer has been introducing themselves this past week. I thought I would introduce myself by creating a layout about my 20 favorite things for 2020 so you could get to know me a little better. The Pebbles Hey, Hello collection was the perfect choice!

Since flowers are one of my favorite things (I have flower gardens all around my house) I fussy cut some flowers from one of the gorgeous floral pattern papers in the Hey, Hello collection and placed them at the top and bottom of my layout.

Since I love my fur babies, it seemed fitting to add this adorable cat ephemera die cut in the flower cluster at the bottom. We currently have 3 cats and 2 dogs in residence. I was a foster Mom for a local rescue until recently. So a few of our pets were foster failures. We just could not part with them. A few were strays. It seems I have a knack for attracting them as well. Spook, the black cat on my shoulders in the photo, has a special place in my heart. I had to nurse him by hand as a kitten through a respiratory infection.

What else do I like? Coffee, Avocado Mango Power Greens Smoothies, listening to audio books so I can keep up with my bookclub, and spending time with friends and family are just a few …

I live in Minnesota with my husband of 36 years! Together we managed to raise two very successful girls and one amazing boy. They are all out on their own now. (Which is why I needed fur babies to fill up the empty nest.) By day, I am a software engineer. At night I like to play with pretty papers. I have been scrapbooking for almost 20 years. Scrapbooking branched into cardmaking, paper crafts, and some home decor as well.

I hope you will try creating a 20 favorite things layout for 2020 as well. It’s good to see how our likes change over the years. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Nothing But Love

Hello Pebbles friends! Marcia here today. When asked to do a monochromatic project, my first thought was to fussy cut out a bunch of pink flowers from one of the beautiful floral pattern papers Pebbles is so known for. I had many options to pick from but ended up selecting a pattern paper from the Lovely Moments collection. I liked that there were three different pink flowers in this pattern that could easily be fussy cut out. I also wanted a simple background so my flowers would get all the attention. This black and white polka dot was perfect.

Underneath the fussy cut flowers I placed stems and leaves cut from a white cardstock. Partial flowers can be tucked behind a photo. The floral clusters that were intact were placed over my photo using some foam adhesive to give dimension. You can see I also added some flower stickers and puffy dots to the background.

I created my title by combining the “Nothing But” phrase Thickers with the larger “LOVE” Thickers, arranging them along the top of my photo and then down the side. I like how the two font sizes add interest.

In the die cut phrase ephemera pack I found this card, “I’m so glad I found you”. I thought it was appropriate for my layout. My daughter found her dog Nana at the Humane Society and she fell in love with her! I upped the cuteness factor by adding this adorable bunny as well.

I love how soft and feminine this layout turned out. Take another look at your floral pattern papers and give fussy cutting a try. I think you will be happy with the results too.

All Occasion Cards with Lovely Moments

Hello Pebbles friends! Marcia back today with an all occasion card idea for you using the Lovely Moments collection. This time of year I need birthday cards, sympathy cards, get well cards, graduation cards, shower cards, and wedding cards. This card design could be used for all of these occasions. Just change out the sentiment.

The folded flower on these cards has a quilted look that caught my eye. Aren’t they gorgeous! This is a card you can make with a circle punch or circle cutter.

Let me show you how you can make one too….

Step 1. Punch or cut 8 – 2″ circles and 1 – 3″ circle. You will see both sides of the scrapbook paper, so choose a paper where the two sides coordinate well together. I prefer to use a smaller floral print as well. This allows you to see the flowers after folding.

Step 2. Fold each of the 2″ circles in half, then in half again.

Step 3. Fold just the top layer of paper down. Turn over and repeat on the other side. It should look like this…

Step 4. Unfold the circles except for the last fold.

Step 5. With the folded side face down (see green circle above), take the folded sides and bring to the middle crease. It should look like this. Repeat for all 8 circles.

Step 6. Apply some glue to the middle of your 3″ circle. Start laying your folded circle pieces down leaving a slight gap between.

If you want a very flat flower, press in a book for a while. I like a little dimension though, so I left my flower as is. Add a button or a brad in the center of your flower. Now you can add to a card base along with a sentiment. Make your own card base using pattern papers or use a ready made card from the Lovely Moments card box.

I love how these turned out. They are so pretty with the Lovely Moments pattern papers. I hope you give this a try yourself.
