Make Pinwheels With Your Kids

Hello Pebbles friends! Marcia back today with another craft you can do with your kids. When I was little, my Mom showed me how to make a pinwheel. Pinwheels are fun. You can play with them. Learn about wind. Even use them to decorate with. You probably already have all the supplies you need at home too.

They look awesome in a vase. You could even use them for party favors.

Change the paper and you get completely different looks. I used different pattern papers from the Pebbles Sun & Fun collection.

Here is how you can make them too.

Supplies needed:
paper
pencil
ruler
scissors
a straw
a long stemmed brad.

1 Select your pattern paper. You want the front and back to coordinate well as you will see both sides. It’s ok to use a paper pad even where the back side is white. Cut the paper into a 6″x6″ square. Draw a line lightly in pencil diagonally from corner to corner, and repeat with the other corners. Then measure from each corner along the line and make a mark at 2 1/2″.

2. Use a hole punch to make a hole in the middle of the square where the 2 lines intersect. Then make 4 more holes just to the left of each corner near the edge.

3. Using a scissors, cut up from each corner following the penciled line to the pencil marking 2 1/2″. Erase the penciled lines.

Take the brad and insert it through the corner holes one at a time. Then insert it through the hole in the middle.

After you push the brad through the straw, open up the brad prongs, leaving enough space so you can still turn the pinwheel.

Enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you’ll try making pinwheels with your kids too.

Hello everyone! It’s Eva on the blog today, sharing a tutorial on how to create a paper spinner with your kids.

This craft is very easy! it is perfect to make with your kids and you can use paper scraps from your favorite collections.

To create the paper spinner, start by cutting some strips of patterned paper. We cut ours 1/2 inch wide and 11 inch tall.

Next, punch four 1 1/2 inch circles and glue your strips in the middle of the circle.

Glue the other four strips of paper and glue one circle on top.

One side is ready! Next, put a circle on top (do not glue it) and glue the 8 strips on top.

Cover with another circle and using your Crop a Dile, make a small hole in the center.

Use a long skewer and pass it through the holes.

Finally, use hot glue to secure the top circle. I put some glue on both sides of the circle and also cut the point of the skewer.

Bug Jar

Nothing says summer like activities with the kids. If you’re embarking on a fun-filled summer with kids at home, or maybe just plan to have the grandkids over, you will love Amanda Coleman’s bug jar!

Summer

I love taking a seemingly useless item and turning it into something fun.  I turned an ordinary, plastic peanut butter jar into a cute little bug jar where my kids could house their creepy crawlies throughout the summer.

The Garden Party collection is perfect for creating a little scene on a bug jar.  The flower and bug die cuts made it really easy to embellish a jar in no time.  The little sun is actually a flower die cut, but pairing it with some fussy cut clouds makes it look more like a bright sun.

I adhered a combination of die cuts, stickers, and fussy cut images to the outside of the bug jar.  Aren’t those little bees the cutest?

I covered the top of the jar with a piece of patterned paper and drilled a few holes into the top of the lid.  I labeled the jar with some coordinating Thickers.  Super easy.

I backed the jar with a cloud print to complete the little scene, but you could easily leave this off so you can see through the jar from all directions.

To make the grass, cut a couple strips of patterned paper.  Cut fringe in each strip with a pair of scissors and add some texture by trimming the top of the grass at an angle.

Adhere the grass paper strips to the bottom of the jar and gently bend back the blades to add dimension.
