Window Card

Hello everyone! Eva Pizarro here to bring you a quick tutorial for a super fun and cute card for this spring. I love to make cards, but sometimes I feel like I do the same things all the time. For this card I wanted to create something a bit different, so I created a window in the front and added some small stitched shapes.

It is always hard to sew through small pieces of paper but here’s a tip! Start with a plain piece of paper – the kind you use for your printer is perfect! Do some stitches and begin feeding your shapes. After the first one, do two or three stitches more and add another. Continue doing this until you finish all your shapes.

Tear the paper very carefully and remove your garland.

Cut a circle in the card and decorate it. I used some clouds from a paper in the Home Grown collection and added flowers using the chipboard shapes. I love them! They are ready for use straight from the package and there are a lot of them in there!

Attach your raindrop garland on the back using washi tape. If you don’t want the washi to show, you can attach them in the front of the card before decorating it. Finally, put the message inside the window.

These cards are very simple but have a great effect! The shapes turn a bit and they look lovely when you open the card!

I also did one with little hearts and a message written with some thickers.

I hope you like them and that they brighten your day as much as they did mine! Have a great week!

Mini Bee and Butterfly Gardens

Amanda here today with a quick and easy Easter decor idea for my fellow last minute slacker peeps. Easter dinner is close to the top of the list of Huge Family Meals we eat throughout the year. We are always eager to celebrate an occasion with a huge ham and big pile of cheesy potatoes. It is also one of the few meals where I actually set the table and create a fun centerpiece.

Bee and Butterfly Gardens by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Cottage and Home Grown collectionsGrab a few empty cans, some patterned paper and some flowers and bees and you’ll have some pretty, happy, spring-inspired Easter decor in no time. These mini bee and butterfly gardens are super easy to care for and the flowers are guaranteed not to wilt. You can plant wheat grass directly in the containers, or fill the containers with wheat grass from the grocery store.

Bee and Butterfly Gardens by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Cottage and Home Grown collectionsEvery flower garden needs some buzzing bees, and the enamel bee stickers from the Home Grown collection are perfect. Adhere the bees to the top of a piece of floral wire to make them appear as though they are buzzing all around.  Add a few bees and maybe a butterfly or two.

Bee and Butterfly Gardens by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Cottage and Home Grown collectionsWrap regular ol’ soup cans with patterned paper to create the pretty garden containers. I am crushing on coral right now so I chose to use coordinating coral prints from the Cottage Living collection to wrap my cans.

There is no shame in using store-bought wheat grass to fill your garden containers. No one will ever know the difference. Keep the wheat grass watered for a long lasting garden.

Happy Easter!

Hoppy Easter Treat Bags

Hi, Renee here! Hippity Hoppity Easter’s on its way…and very soon. Today I’m sharing a tutorial using items from the Cottage Living, Happy Day, Home Grown, and Special Delivery collections to create some sweet treat bags. I made these Easter Treat Bags for my nieces and nephews. Aren’t they adorable? I love how they turned out.

Here are the supplies I used to make my Easter Treat Bags:
Bunny Template
Glassine Bags
Patterned Papers
Stickers and flowers
Pom-Poms
Decorative Punch
Adhesive
Standard Stapler
Pen
Candy (of course!)

I started with an Easter Bunny to decorate my treat bags. If you don’t have a Silhouette machine like me, no problem! I found this adorable Easter bunny printable on Pinterest and downloaded it for free.

I opened it in Word. I changed the Page Layout to 4″ x 6″ and re-sized the bunny to 3″ x 4.5″.

Under the Artistic Effect tab, I clicked on “Glass” for an outline of the bunny.

Now, it’s ready to Print. You could always print out the bunny directly onto your favorite pattern papers.

I chose to print out my bunny on a 4″ x 6″ white card, cut it out, and used it as my template. My actual cut bunny template measures 2 1/8″ x 4 1/8″ (remember that there will be space around the bunny as you size it in Word).

Place, Trace, and Cut! So easy and fun just like Kindergarten. 😉 I added white pom-poms for my bunny tails. They look adorable!

Now, to work on my treat bags. I filled the Glassine Bags with candy first. How pretty are these pastel blue and pink printed bags?! They are just perfect Easter colors for my nieces and nephews.

Then, I trimmed the Home Grown Foliage pattern papers to 4″ x 12″ and added a decorative scallop edge to one side. I chose this pattern paper so that my bunnies have a nice grassy spot to sit in. 🙂 Next, I cut that strip to 4″ x 5.25″ (which would be 12 scallops for each bag). Then, I scored them, folded them in half, and stapled them to each treat bag.

They look awesome! Now, to decorate the toppers of these Easter Treat Bags.

I added the Easter Bunnies to each bag topper first. I added Dimensional Dots to the backs of the bunnies making sure to place them in the same spots so that the heights of the bunnies will be the same on each bag.

Then, I added flowers and leaves and bees or butterfly stickers to each bag topper.

My nieces have cute little bees dancing around their flowers.

All of the Easter Treat Bags are done! Aren’t they fun? They look so cute! I kept the design sweet and simple for the kids. They are going to love the pom-pom bunny tails and the yummy candy treats inside. I really enjoyed making these.

Flower Die Cuts That Spring To Life

Spring Blossoms Layout by Mendi Yoshikawa using the #HomeGrown collection from @PebblesInc. @SnippetsByMendi

Hello there!  It’s Mendi here today with a Spring layout all about blooming flowers!  For almost a decade we faithfully visited a local Tulip Festival, but sadly we haven’t made it for the past few years (something I think we need to remedy soon).  I wanted to create a special layout capturing the fun we had the last year we attended and I decided creating a beautiful floral grouping with the ephemera flowers was the perfect way to do this!

I was looking for a way to fit more photos on my page so I chose to string a set of mini Polaroids along the bottom of my page.  These were originally 2 full-sized 4×6 photos which I ruthlessly cropped down into (3) 2×2 inch squares.  I love how downsizing them put the focus back on my family’s cute little faces and left me more room to include fun embellishments.  I adore the fun triangle paper clips that came with the Photo Garland kit.  I often include banners on my pages so it’s nice to have a fresh way to mix things up!

To bring my flowers to life and give them a more 3-D look, I chose to layer several of the flower die-cuts in the smaller sizes using foam tape.  I also added soft chalk ink to my edges to make them pop and stand out when stacked together.

For my bumblebee trail I was really struggling to draw the perfect one directly on my background paper.  After several attempts and erasing, I decided to experiment on printer paper.  I loved the freedom this gave me to play without pressure.  When I had one I was finally happy with I simply cut it out like a pattern piece, laid it in place and used my paper piercer to poke holes along my homemade pencil line template.

Here’s what my page looked like after all my holes were poked.

From there I took 3 strands of embroidery floss and stitched through my holes.  Initially I wasn’t sure if I wanted to skip every other line or not so I started with a running stitch.  However, in the end I didn’t feel like it stood out enough on my page so after reaching the end, I turned around my stitch and went back the other direction for a solid look.

Here’s one last look at my final page.  I hope I’ve inspired you to pull out some Spring photos and create some floral bouquets of your own.  🙂
