Eat, Drink & Be Scary Halloween Scrapbooking Layout

Hello everyone.  It’s almost Halloween time here in the U.S. and you know what that means??? It means chaos and fun at Target. Yep, every year we are “that family”. You know the ones you see trying on the most absurd costumes right there in the costume aisle? That’s us. We’re not loud or obnoxious and we don’t walk around the store in them but we do have a little fun. Oh and by the way, we ended up buying the milk carton that night and my daughter’s best friend went back to get a cookie costume so they could Trick or Treat together as cookies and milk.

I wanted to try to create a layout that mixed a lot of the Spooky Boo collection and several years ago I created a woven heart and I loved the look. That’s what inspired me to create this layout. Only instead of a heart I went with an “X” because it reminded me of the symbols you see around this time of year cautioning you not to drink the poison.

The first step, which is not featured here but is in my process video coming soon, was to add clear gesso to the white background and apply lime green paint / mist.

To weave this together, I cut 1/4″ x 12″ strips of paper. I believe I used about 8 different patterned papers so it would have lots of variety but you could use one if you want a more cohesive look. That’s all up to you.

Next, it was time for the photos.  I struggled with this a bit here because no matter what I tried, the photos just kept blending into the background.  I ended up going with a dark paper immediately behind the photo and then a whitish and orange to help it pop. I also used foam to pop the photo of them eating the taco and drinking the milk and milkshake. Then I drew attention to them with the sticker embellishments around the photos.

I also knew that the title would help draw attention to the photos. The alphas I used are a really cool black glitter but the foam is orange so it’s really eye catching.  I chose a title appropriate for the photo – Eat (the taco), drink (the milk and milkshake) and be scary (always).

Lastly, I added journaling to the bottom right with a cute little spider to catch your attention.  I also added other small embellishments in that area as well as at the top left.

So that’s my Eat, Drink & Be Scary Halloween Scrapbooking Layout. Check back soon for the process video for this layout.

Pineapple Anyone?

Hello everyone! It’s Monique here today sharing a layout I created for this week’s “mix and match” feature. I had so much fun creating this page using lots of my favorite Pebbles’ products! Here in The Netherlands we finally had a few sunny days and all of a sudden I longed for Summer! I decided to create a bright and colorful Summer layout using mainly the Sunshiny Days collection and the Fun In The Sun collection and some photos from our vacation in Greece last year. I love the pineapples and flamingos which are so hot right now and I thought I would give those a try. Here’s what I created for today:

A summery mix and match layout by @moniqueliedtke using the "Sunshiny Days" and the "Fun in the Sun" collections by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #scrapbook_layout

I just love how the pineapple turned out! Here’s a quick step-by-step how I created it: I used the Silhouette to cut out the shape of the pineapple (4.5″ x 9″) and with a pair of fringe scissors I cut seven strips of pink paper and six green strips. The strips measure 2″ x 5″.

A summery mix and match layout by @moniqueliedtke using the "Sunshiny Days" and the "Fun in the Sun" collections by @PebblesInc #madewithpebbles #pebblesinc #scrapbook_layout

I cut through these strips of paper for about three quarters of the width and adhered them on a piece of 10.5″ x 6″ of white cardstock, overlapping each other half.

Next I placed the negative shape of the pineapple over these pink & green “fringed” strips of paper:

I selected matching patterned papers for the background and tried to decide on a design for the rest of my layout.

In the end I chose two 4″ x 4″ photos of my youngest son and matted them on some “neutral” colored paper from the Simple Life collection. I selected die-cuts and stickers from both the Sunshiny Days and the Fun In The Sun collections and started building the rest of my page. I almost never design the layout before I start, but make it up as I go along.

I just adore all the fun papers, die-cuts & stickers in the Pebbles collections! There’s just so much to choose from! Just look at those flamingos! So adorable! And those puffy phrase stickers .. I just had to add those too!

The machine stitching was added last, which is always a bit of a risk but it’s what I do.

And now this layout is finished I long for Summer even more!

You’re So Sharp Back to School DIY Pencil Box Treats

Hello everyone. Heather Leopard here to show you how I created unique Back to School pencil boxes for all the kids in our cul-de-sac, who will be returning to school next week.
Back to School Pencil Boxes by Heather Leopard
The majority of the kids in our part of the neighborhood are still in elementary school. They are so excited to go back to school to see their friends and teachers. These little pencil boxes are just a small gesture from us to add to their excitement.

I used this pencil box cut file that I downloaded from the Silhouette store. Using a combination 3 different Pebbles collections, I mixed and matched colors and patterns to resemble a pencil. Then, I used the same color palette to decorate the crate that will hold the gifts. This will also serve as part of the back to school decorations in my house until we hand them out.  I’m getting a 2 for 1 deal here.
Back to School Pencil Boxes Banner by Heather Leopard
I found this crate in the Dollar isle at Target and had to get it because it’s so cute.  You could easily recreate this yourself with a couple of rulers and wood glue.  It didn’t need much more decorating but I wanted to add a bit of color. To do this, I added a cute little banner to the top and a school sentiment to the bottom corner.

This project involves a bit of paper piecing work but there’s only 5 elements and it’s so cute and really simple to do. I added little tags to the pencils so that I could add a sentiment on the front and who it’s from on the back.
Back to School Pencil Boxes 2 by Heather Leopard
If you want to mix it up a bit for the pencils you could really use any fun pattern you have on hand.  Afterall, pencils come in all sorts of fun prints these days.

Quick and Easy Summer Gift Ideas

Hello new Pebbles friends. Heather Leopard here today with my first project as a new Pebbles Design Team gal.  I’m super excited to show you a quick gift I made to give to my girls.  We love our  beach vacations and I thought it would be fun to give my girls a little care package to document all our summer activities.

Beach Gift Bags and Mini Albums by Heather Leopard
The creative aspect of this care package includes the gift bag and mini album / journal.  These are relatively easy to make if you have a die cut machine or template you can follow.  The Fun in the Sun collection is perfect for this project.
Beach Gift Bags by Heather Leopard
To get started, I knew I needed to begin with the beach bags. The bags needed to be able to hold the album and other little goodies so I made it fairly large, measuring at 6″ x 8″.  Choosing a design that allowed for a 2 tone pattern gave it added interest.  Then it was time for the really fun part – decorating!
Beach Gift Bags with gifts by Heather Leopard
Each bag includes buttons where the straps attach to the bag, a fun sentiment and a coordinating embellishment or two. You could also hang a tag off one of the straps but I am letting my girls decide which ones they want.  Of course, I designed these with my girls’ style and colors in mind so we’ll see how it goes.
Beach Gift Bags Mini Album by Heather Leopard
I designed the mini albums to be 4″ x 6″ to easily fit into the 6″ x 8″ beach gift bags. To create these, simply cut a 8″ x 6″ cover and several inside sheets measuring 3.5″ x 5.5″. I used 5 sheets for the inside to make 10 pages. Center the inside sheets so that there is an 1/4″ border.
Beach Gift Mini Album by Heather Leopard
Then I stitched it together in the center. Once the mini album is together, it’s time to decorate again!  I added a tone on tone background to cover the album and then I used the fun sentiments from the 3″ x 4″ cards pattern paper, framed it out and then added a dimensional sticker.
Beach Gift Bags and Mini Albums by Heather Leopard
I can’t wait to give these to my girls.  We’re taking a road trip soon so I may even print out a few photos from the summer and put a little craft kit together to keep them busy on our way to the beach.

BBQ Time! Layout

Hi!  Renee here to share a BBQ Time! layout using the America the Beautiful collection.  My favorite thing about summer is that I get to eat my favorite food…BBQ.  YUM!  My FIL got a new grill and invited the family over for a fantastic Father’s Day party.  The food was grilled to perfection and we had a great time together.  I created this layout with a couple of my favorite photos.  You can see where I spent much of my time…right by the grill watching the grill master at work.

I gathered my supplies and even pulled in a couple of items from the Fun In The Sun collection.

I started my BBQ Time! layout by choosing the Patriotic Posies pattern paper for my background.  I used the “BBQ Time!” journaling card from the Fun In The Sun Summer Days pattern paper…a perfect title for my layout.  My photos measure 3″ x 4″ and 4″ x 6″.

Time to add layers under my photos and journaling card:

  1. I trimmed the Sparklers pattern paper to 6 1/8″ x 8 1/8″.
  2. I trimmed the American Blooms pattern paper to 6″ x 9 ¼”.
  3. I trimmed the Bandana pattern paper to 4 ¾” x 10 ¾”.
  4. I trimmed the Stars & Stripes pattern paper to 5 ¾” x 10 1/8″.

I centered all my layers and adhered them 1″ from the right edge of my background paper.

I added a blue striped Washi Tape Strip between my pattern paper layers.

I added a couple of flower Die-Cut Shapes along with hot dog and hamburger Die-Cut Shapes around my page.  Too cute!  And yummy.

I added watermelon and lemonade Stickers along with a Label Sticker stamped with the date of the party.

I added a flower Sticker…

…and splatters of Golden Color Mist for the final touches on my BBQ Time! layout.
