Mailable Handmade Cards

Have you ever made a beautiful homemade card for a friend living states away only to discover that when you went to mail it, it was a little too bulky for the envelope and the postage would cost an arm and a leg? Well, Laurel Seabrook understands that all too well and has found the perfect solution.

Front Porch

Hi everyone, Laurel here with you today. I don’t know about you but the cost of mailing a handmade card almost (well not really, hehehe) has me not wanting to send any. So today I decided to create a simple, less bulky ‘mailable’ card. I send out a lot of thank you cards so I need to build up my stash of simple ones.

Simple handmade cards by @laurel_seabrook that aren't bulky and will mail without costing an arm and a leg! #pebblesinc #FrontPorchFor this card I used the Front Porch collection. Super simple paper layering and adding one of the library cards made this a very quick and easy card that is still quite pretty.

We love the beautiful touch Marjan Pel applies to all of her projects. Today she’s sharing a lovely set of holiday gift boxes and tags that you will not want to miss!

Handmade holiday boxes and tags

I love to make decoration and gifts for Christmas and the Front Porch collection by Pebbles is just perfect for this. The color scheme I used is red, grey and silver.

Handmade holiday boxes and tags

For this project I made cute pillow boxes and embellished them with photo frame hang tags.

Instead of using photos I put small pieces of different patterned paper in each tag. I used the 1.5″ create-a-sticker by Xyron to adhere the small strips of punched stars and small snowflakes to the paper.

I adhered the big snowflakes with the help of the 2.5″ create-a-sticker by Xyron.

I finished off the tags with typical christmas words like joy, peace and merry and some cute clothes pins. Here and there I adhered some glitter and crystal dots.

The big star is really decorative with all the small festive pillow boxes. I filled the boxes with chocolate and sweets. My family will love this!

The time spent wrapping a gift and getting it ready to go under the tree can be almost as important as the time spent shopping for it. This week, we’ll be showcasing a variety of holiday gift tags to inspire your gift wrapping this season.

Becky Williams is kicking off the week with a variety of specially designed gift tags.

Holiday Gift Tags

For me this really is the “most wonderful time of the year” and I really enjoy getting to put together little gifts for friends, neighbors and family.

I used a basic tag shape in kraft and white cardstock as the backdrop for my tags and then decorated them with ribbons, twine, diecut shapes and stickers. Some I kept more simple and others I jazzed up with spray mists to make each one unique.

Holiday Magnetic Paper Doll Set

We’re rounding out our handmade holiday gifts week with a couple of great posts. Up first? An amazing set of holiday magnetic paper dolls created by Samantha Taylor.

Handmade Holiday Gifts

This year we have lots of kids in our neighborhood, so I got to thinking about fun handmade Christmas gifts for kids (whether it’s neighbor kids, cousins, friends’ kids, or the like).  I decided to use the beautiful patterned paper from Pebbles with the 5” Xyron Creative Station to make Magnetic Paper Dolls.

Handmade Paper Dolls

I used my Silhouette to cut out a paper doll and clothes.  If you don’t have a Silhouette you print paper doll templates directly onto patterned paper and cut them out that way.  It was so much fun to choose different colors and patterns from the Pebbles paper collections to turn into clothes.  If you’d rather cater this project to the boys in your life, you could make paper super heroes.

Magnetic Paper Dolls 2

Once the pieces were cut out, ran them through the Xyron Creative station with the laminate/magnet cartridge in.  This step not only adds a magnet to the back of the paper doll pieces, but adds laminate to the top, protecting the paper from the abuse of play.  If the pieces get sticky or dirty, you can just wipe them off!

Magnetic Paper Dolls 3

After you run your pieces through the Xyron, you will have to cut each piece out from the magnet/laminate sheet (I was able to cut everything out by hand for this set while sitting and watching 1 episode of Grays Anatomy, so it doesn’t take very much time).

Magnetic Paper Dolls 4

Once they pieces are cut out, they’re ready to be played with on a metal cookie sheet.  I picked up a brand new one for $3.

Magnetic Paper Dolls 5

To keep track of pieces that aren’t being played with (the sheet can be a bit crowded if you try to fit all of the clothes on it at once), I also made a large envelope from Pebbles Basics paper.

I can’t wait to give this gift away!
