Fussy Cut Floral Layout

Hey there Pebbles friends and fans, Becki here. I’m so excited to share a layout with you that I created using bits and pieces from the Simple Life collection, the Warm & Cozy collection, and the DIY Home collection. This fussy cut floral layout is one of my favorites! Jen Hadfield’s collections are personal favorites of mine. I love all of them!!

I started by fussy cutting A LOT of flowers. I LOVE fussy cutting. It’s one of my favorite techniques. I watch for patterned papers that have elements I can fussy cut. Not only are fussy cut elements fun, they’re also a great way to make your scrapbooking budget stretch a little bit further. For the price of one piece of patterned paper you can often get dozens of fussy cut elements that are great for embellishing. I chose three patterned papers to fussy cut flowers from. I knew I wanted tons of flowers to cascade diagonally across my layout from the top left corner to the bottom right corner.

This is actually a very budget friendly layout because I only used one piece of patterned paper on the background. I cut the paper into three pieces and adhered them back together on a piece of cardstock using both sides of the patterned paper.

I used lots of dimensional adhesive to adhere the flowers to the background of the layout. This step is optional but it makes a huge difference in the amount of texture on the layout.

I love the shadows that the flowers create!

I nestled my title and journaling under the photo, right next to the flowers.

I created a few different layers under the photo. I always want the focus of my layouts to be on the photo. By adding a few layers under the photo it draws the readers eye to the photo and makes it stand out against the floral embellishments.

Hugs & Kisses DIY Valentine’s Day Home Decor

Happy day before Valentine’s Day, friends! I wanted to share a quick and easy DIY Valentine Home Decor you can whip up tonight for the big day tomorrow.

I spotted this wonderful Heart shaped corkboard in the dollar spot at one of my most favorite places in the world and I snatched it up right away. I wish I had grabbed more because I love it so! Anyway, it was the inspiration I needed to celebrate my greatest loves! I printed a 2.5″x3″ photo of my hubby and me and then two 2″x3″ photos of our girls but what could I do to decorate this heart shaped corkboard that would help keep the shape of the heart? I figured it’s all about the curves here so a few dimensional flowers would do the trick.

Creating the flowers is actually pretty quick and easy. I cut different shapes of squares and then cut them in a spiral, like you see in the top right and bottom of the photo above. I kept some with a straight edge and others with a scallop.

While my glue gun was heating, I starting rolling the spiral around a pencil, starting with the outside edge. Then, pulling the pencil away, I tightened it and shaped the flower to my liking and sealed it all together by applying hot glue to that round base.

How cute is this heart corkboard? I created some additional flowers using my Silhouette CAMEO and a few cut files I had purchased.

I decided to put clusters of flowers in a triangle because you know, decorating rules.

Let it Snow | DIY Snowflakes

Heather Leopard is here and I hope you’re staying nice and warm wherever you are! My family and I just made it back from a winter ski break. It snowed quit a bit while we were skiing and my youngest daughter kept singing “Let it snow”. My girls wanted to bring snow home with us but since it will melt here in Texas, I decided to make a bit of snowflake decor with the song we heard sang on repeat.

This project is really fun and easy to create with just a few supplies. I keep this white frame up in my house year-round and just switch it up throughout the seasons. It’s versatile enough to match almost any decor so it’s my go-to when creating something fun for the house.

To create this you’ll need the following supplies:

white cardstock
background patterned paper
snowflakes punch or cut file – you can download the one I created HERE
garland and faux pom poms – also included in the cut file above
alphabet letters
glue dots
liquid adhesive
paper trimmer

Once you’ve punched or cut everything out. you literally just have to assemble everything. Easy peasy!

I knew this would have to be multi-dimensional since the alphabet wouldn’t fit behind the frame. At first, I was going to adhere the garland and the snowflakes to the background paper and place all of that behind the glass but it really flattened everything out a bit too much so the only thing I have behind the glass is the patterned paper. Once the paper was in position I added the garland and snowflakes, moving them around to ensure I had enough space for the sentiment. Once I liked how everything was positioned, I adhered them to the glass using glue dots. The circle “pom-poms” were adhered with liquid adhesive.

Next, it was time to add the alphabet Thickers to fill in the empty spaces!

So there you have it, a reminder of our day on the slopes with my youngest singing at the top of her lungs and a nice reminder that Winter is upon us as we are snuggled warm inside the house.

DIY Halloween Countdown Home Decor

Hello everyone. Heather Leopard is here today to share a fun DIY Halloween project your entire family is sure to enjoy.

I don’t know about you but Halloween is a huge deal in our house. My girls absolutely love dressing up, knocking on neighbors’ doors and collecting all the treats they can. They are always asking me how many days until Halloween so I thought I’d give them a fun activity they can look forward to each day.

Supplies needed:

Wooden block or frame
Pattern paper
Embellishments like die cuts and puffy stickers
Clothespins
Gesso and paintbrush (optional)

Cut a fun quote out of a lighter colored pattern paper. I chose “When witches go riding & black cats are seen ’tis ___ days until Halloween.”

You’re going to add more patterns behind the pattern paper with the quote so you may want to tone it down with a bit of paint or gesso.

Add fun pattern papers to the back of your quote paper. Trim if necessary (you can see I had to trim). Adhere to coordinating background paper to help it pop off the wooden block.

Cut large numbers for the countdown and a large bow for the top of your block / frame.

Adhere additional embellishments. I tried to tie back to the witch and black cat theme and then added additional friends, like the spider and his web and the ghost.

Now set it out for your family to enjoy, or in my case, for the kids to fight over who gets to change the date. Just kidding, kind of.

DIY Fall Welcome Sign

Hey there Pebbles friends and fans, Becki here. Fall is officially here!! I’m so excited to share this DIY Fall welcome sign I created using the Warm & Cozy collection. To me this collection is cabins, quilts, flannel shirts, and a huge cup of hot chocolate. I wanted to create something that looked like a quilt for this welcome sign. I started by cutting a lot of hexagons from scraps that I had from previous projects from the Warm & Cozy collection. I used a large punch but you could use an electronic die cut machine, manual die cut machine, or a template.

I used a 5×7 frame so I adhered the hexagons to a piece of 5×7 cardstock. Then I stitched around each hexagon with my sewing machine. This step took a lot of time. I questioned if this step was worth it, but it really was worth it!

I think this detailed step made a HUGE difference in the final project. I LOVE the detail of the stitching.

I added the “welcome” sentiment with foam adhesive. I did have to cut some of the foam adhesive so they would fit under the “welcome” sticker.

Here’s the final product! I can’t wait to display this DIY Fall welcome sign with the rest of my Fall home decor. I love the quilted background. It’s the perfect touch for any Fall home decor.

I added foam adhesive to make the “welcome” pop off the background but you could easily place the sticker right on the background and place sign behind a piece of glass in a frame. Even with all the machine stitching I had this project done in less than an hour. What Fall projects are you working on with the Warm & Cozy collection?
