Hey there Pebbles Fans! It’s Terhi Koskinen here wishing you the most colorful day and inspiring you with a scrapbook layout made in very special situation.

As I have been scrapbooking our family life for as long as I have been a Mom, I thought to ask if my daughters would like to make a layout together with me. We’ve done many crafts together and they both have done many layouts of their own. This layout has been made with my older daughter, who just turned 12.

Teenagers, children, how ever you wish to call them, are super talented and very creative if you just give them a chance! Surely my children has been watching how I create and seen my work, so they have strong opinions and thoughts about how the layout should look. For this page, we proceed completely in her phase – not mine.

We started by choosing a photograph and I was very surprised she didn’t pick a horse photo but mine instead! I asked why this one and she told because it’s a pretty one. That’s a perfect reason, isn’t it. Then, she picked up a white cardstock for a background to start our work, just as her Mom always do.

I limited her passion and excitement to Pebbles Hey, Hello collection instead giving her access to all my products. I had some of the separate patterned papers and Pebbles Hey, Hello Project Pad on the table and she fell in love with the paper Yellow Roses. We fussy cut all the flowers out and to bring more colors we took the lovely colored sheet out from the project pad.

The most interesting part of the process was adding thread. She’s seen my Youtube videos and she’s been watching how I do it, but she gave me an idea which is totally new to me – adding matching thread around each paper. The effect is adorable! It bring softness to the page but doesn’t make it as messy as I usually end up doing. Well done my dear child, well done!

Attaching the squares to the background was a bit tricky, so instead of measuring and getting gray hair I asked if the squares could be like wreath. She didn’t like the idea but shook them a bit, so the squares are inclined on purpose.

If you’d like to try out creating something together with older than toddlers, here’s what I think are the most important things to make the moment memorable.

  • Tell her/him clearly what’s the main goal – it’s easier to create when you know what to create and to where.
  • Limit all options – it’s easier to decide from four papers than from forty papers.
  • Let her/him teach YOU something, be curious about their opinions.
  • Instead of saying no, ask questions like why.

We did this together and I’m so very proud about it. Creating one thing together is totally different thing than creating things beside each other. She enjoyed as much as I.

Thank you for stopping by here today, it’s been a pleasure! Have a great day!
