Cardmaking with Peek-A-Boo You

Hello Pebbles friends! Marcia here today with some adorable cards I created with the new Peek-A-Boo You collection. This collection is perfect for baby boys and girls.

Cardmaking is easy when you can cut journal cards from pattern paper as I did here. The card sentiment is already there for you so you don’t need stamps either. This first card uses just one pattern paper for the background. I used some metal dies to give this stork journal card a unique shape as well as for the doily I layered underneath. A pretty bow and some washi tape add a few more delicate details.

Cardmaking doesn’t need to be hard. For this card I picked two pattern papers that coordinated well together to create this card background and placed a journal card on top. I added a delicate butterfly to accent the card sentiment.

How about three pattern papers… I used two for the background and added a third for the scallop punched border. Some ribbon, butterflies, and sprigs of leaves are perfect for baby girl cards.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!
~Marcia

make beautiful cards from scraps

When I love a collection it’s really really hard for me to throw away my scraps from my projects. The problem is that sometimes they stack up and I forget about them. Hi friends, it’s Wendy Sue here with you today, and one of my new goals is to use up my scraps as I go. One of my favorite ways to use up my scraps is to make cards! Here’s a look at a set of cards I created using scraps from the “This is Family ” Collection!

Use your scraps to make a fun card set! Cards by Wendy Sue Anderson for #PebblesInc. featuring the "This is Family" Collection

Here’s how easy it was to make these cards using nothing but scraps and a fun coordinating tag:

  1. Start by gathering several coordinating strips of scraps (they don’t have to be from the same collection, just make sure they work well together):

2. I also cut one piece of patterned paper for the base of my card front. This paper could also be a scrap, and you can choose to cover it completely OR allow some to be exposed.

3. Start arranging paper strips on the background. This particular background worked well because I wanted the strips to be placed diagonally. The stripes were a perfect guide. Lay the strips down and decide on a pattern you’re happy with before you glue anything. Make sure the ends of the strips go all the way to the edge of the background. Don’t worry about trimming them yet, just arrange and then adhere them to the background.

4. After adhering the strips, flip over the base. You can easily see where to trim the strips. Go ahead and trim them off with scissors or with a paper trimmer.

This is how your card base will look after the edges have been trimmed.

5. An optional step, but one I recommend, because I love how it looks, is to stitch around the edges with a sewing machine and white thread.

6. Now add a coordinating tag like this one! I used foam adhesive squares for a bit of dimension:

7. Next, tie white thread through the tag hole:

8. Add stickers or ephemera to embellish a bit more.

9. Finally, add the entire piece a white card, created from white cardstock!

If you have enough scraps, make a second (or third or more) card too!

Don’t let your beautiful scraps go to waste ever again!!

Birthday Cards with 4 Things

Hello Pebbles friends! Marcia here today. This week we were challenged to create a project using only 4 things. I decided to create a set of birthday cards. It seems I am always in need of one and the new This Is Family collection had fun ephemera die cuts that were perfect for birthdays. My 4 things are paper, a cut file, ephemera die cuts, and a sentiment stamp.

Some of my favorite die cut ephemera pieces from the This Is Family collection are the bears riding bicycles. They are too cute! They add a fun, whimsical feel to this card set. This first card I am sharing didn’t need a stamped sentiment. That Happy Birthday banner is one of the die cut ephemera pieces.

By keeping the design relatively the same, these cards came together pretty fast. I only had to choose which papers I wanted to use. I love that the This Is Family collection has colors suitable for boys and girls.

and Mamas and Papas.

Would you love to receive one of these?

Make Cards Using Scraps

Hello Pebbles friends! Marcia here today. I dug out some scraps I had from the Jen Hadfield Heart of Home collection and decided to make some everyday cards with them. Did you know the Heart of Home papers, stickers, and other embellishments are available at your local Joann Fabrics stores! I love that I can use my Joann coupons to purchase my favorite scrapbook supplies too. I made a set of three cards, all with the same design. I just changed the pattern papers up.

Journal cards or tags are a great way to add a sentiment to a card if you aren’t big into stamping. I added a cardstock background to my journal cards to help set them apart from my card background. Then I created my own embellishments using scraps of patterned paper and cardstock, my Silhouette Cameo, and a few digital cut files.

A border die separates the two card background pattern papers and adds a feminine touch.

I used the same white twine bows and Nuvo translucent drops on all three cards. When reusing the same design and products, I find that I can whip up several cards in no time. A sticker here and there helps me use up my sticker stash too.

Take another look at your scraps before you toss them. Maybe you could make some amazing cards too!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great weekend.
~Marcia
