Hey Pebbles friends, Becki here. I’m excited to share with you a back to school scrapbooking layout I created using the new Warm and Cozy collection. I love back to school photos. My kids will tell you that every year we take photos not only on the first day of school but we also do a back to school photo shoot a few days before school starts. As much as I love Summer I love the routine and the fresh start that a new school year brings.

I started by gathering some supplies from the Warm and Cozy collection. I LOVE all the gorgeous plaids in this collection. I chose this great red, black, and yellow plaid paper to create an huge apple.

I sketched a giant apple on a piece of white cardstock. (My kids think it looks like a pumpkin, they’re wrong. It’s totally an apple.) You could also use a die cut machine to cut the apple out of white cardstock. I backed the apple cut out with the red patterned paper. I really wanted the apple to be  the focus of the layout. I chose one photo for the layout. I wanted the journaling to be tucked away behind the photo on this project so I used a kraft treat bag.

The bag was a little too large for the journaling cards I chose so I folded it in half and stapled it.

You could also cut the bottom of the bag and stitch it closed with a sewing machine. The journaling cards fit perfectly into the folded/stapled treat bags.

The title is created with the beautiful copper foam Thickers that come with the Warm and Cozy collection. I created the title along the curve of the apple.

The leaves from the sticker sheet and die cut pack made the perfect addition to the layout with a pop of green, copper, and brown.

DIY Back To School Banner

Hello, hello, hello!  It’s back-to-school time, which means it’s the perfect time to switch up my little revolving frame!  I know it’s a little “old school,” but I love paper piecing and try to incorporate it in my projects whenever I can.  This little pencil banner was so easy to whip up with only a few supplies – and I love the excitement it generates about school starting (even if I am the only one feeling the giddiness of buying school supplies and new clothes)!

You can make a banner just like this one in only a few simple steps.  Let me show you!

First, cut the following pieces – adjusting the scale as needed for your project:

DIY Back-to-School banner by @wendysuea with the #SpringFling and #Everyday collections by @Pebblesinc.

pink patterned paper: 2 1/2″ x 2″
woodgrain patterned paper: 2 1/2″ x 1/2″
yellow patterned paper: 2 1/2″ x 4″
kraft dot patterned paper: 2 1/2″ x 1/2″
black patterned paper: 2 1/2″ x 1″

Create the eraser by layering the pink and woodgrain patterned papers, then round the top corners:

Place the eraser on the pencil:

Now layer the kraft and black papers to create the wood/lead:

Sharpen your pencil by clipping the corners of the black paper:

And add the lead to the pencil:

Finally, add the letter stickers (I used foam adhesive behind the letter stickers for a bit of dimension):

Next, punch holes in the corners of each eraser and string them together with baker’s twine.  Add thickers to complete the title and hang!

These pencils would also be cute as bag decorations, tags, or even cards!  Be creative and put your paper-piecing skills to work!

This frame hangs in my entry way, and I switch it up according to the season or holiday.

Back 2 School Layout

Hi everyone! It’s Monique here today with a “Back 2 School” layout using the wonderful “DIY Home” collection. The photo I used is of my daughter on the first day of her last year of secondary school. This was a bit of a special year for her as she had been away for a year. She had done five of the six years of secondary school when she decided she wanted to go to the USA to attend one year of High School, which she did. When she came back though, she still had to finish her school here in The Netherlands. I’m happy to say that last May she graduated and this month she will be going to university!

When I looked at the colors of my photo I knew straight away that I wanted to use the DIY Home collection as the colors are such a perfect match. I had lots of left-overs which I could use to create the mat under my photo and I loved the quote so I wanted to use that as well:

Next I wanted to include some “String Art” in my layout as I really love the extra dimension this gives. I decided I would do part of my title in a string art-way. Here’re a few photos how I achieved this:

I printed the word “school” on a regular piece of paper, using the “Cocogoose” font, size 120 and placed the print on a sheet of white cardstock (Cocogoose is a free font and can be found HERE):

Using my paper piecer I punched little holes through the printed sheet in my cardstock beneath:

Once I was done I removed the print and with some embroidery thread I hand stitched each letter on the white cardstock, starting with the outline before filling in the rest of the letter:

Here’s the end result. Doesn’t it look great?

Here are a few close-ups of the rest of my layout. The feather, the “xoxo” and the polaroid frame were all created using some of my dies and a die-cutting machine. The feather and the polaroid frame were cut from the DIY Home “Pink Ombre” sheet and the “xoxo” was cut from the “gold dot” sheet.

The flower die-cut comes from the “Warm & Cozy” collection and the word “smile” is a phrase tag from the “Home + Made” collection.

The rest of the title was created with some “gilded” Thickers and next to it I added a few lines of hand written journaling. Last but not least I added some machine stitching and a few paint drops and I was done! Hope you like it.

Hey Everyone! It’s Leanne here today, sharing with you an interactive idea for your next “back to school” layout!

Fun Back to School layout using interactive journaling elements by @leanne_allinson for @PebblesInc.

I love journaling and I absolutely add it to all of my layouts. But sometimes the journaling can require privacy from a wider audience. Hidden journaling can be quite cathartic when documenting difficult moments. However, I also love the idea of including hidden journaling, purely for the sake of the interactive element on my page.

On the layout I am sharing today, I wanted to include a fun idea that also incorporates the school theme. A Library Card Pocket!

Fun Back to School layout using interactive journaling elements by @leanne_allinson for @PebblesInc.

To create this narrow pocket for your page, gather a 3” x 10.5” strip of coordinating patterned paper, double sided adhesive, corner rounder and scoring tool.

step 1: Round the top corners only, on the paper strip.

step 2: Fold and score the paper at 6”.

step 3: Add double sided tape to the paper strip along the outside edges on the lower half and fold.

step 4: Using the Birthday Wishes patterned paper, trim a section to fit inside the pocket.

Complete the layout by adding journaling details to the paper insert for the pocket, a fun flower cluster with primary colours and a title that grounds all the elements to the page.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today. I hope this layout encourages you to document the details on your next “back to school” page!!

Easy Back to School Gift

Hello Pebbles friends, Becki here.  I’m so excited to share this easy back to school gift with you. Any mom of school age children will tell you that back to school time ranks right at the top of the busiest times of year. Registrations, back to school nights, and back to school shopping are enough to make any mom run herself ragged. Today, I have an easy back to school gift to make this time of year a little bit easier. This project only took me about 5 minutes to create. Yes, I said 5 minutes. When I go shopping for school supplies I always pick up a few extra supplies to give to my children’s teachers. Today, I’ll show you how I created this cute gift with only a few supplies and 5 minutes.

Easy Back to School gift created by @jbckadams for @pebblesinc #backtoschool #pebblesinc #papercrafting

I used bits of two pieces of patterned paper from the Woodland Forest collection to create a tag.

Easy Back to School gift created by @jbckadams for @pebblesinc #backtoschool #pebblesinc #papercrafting

I stapled the top of the tag to create a loop and put a piece of red and white twine through the loop.  I tied the loop around a cute polka dot glitter treat bag from the Home + Made collection and tied a bow. Then, I added a few supplies to the bag. It’s that easy!

I love the 2×2 apple cut out. It’s perfect for back to school. The red and white twine adds just a bit more color to the neutral color of the bag.

Hopefully this easy back to school gift idea will help your back to school season a little less chaotic. Thanks for stopping by the Pebbles blog today, I’ll see you again soon!
