Halloween Candle Holders

Hello Pebbles’ fans, I’m Eva Pizarro and today I am bringing you a quick tutorial on how to make candle holders and decorate your home during the holidays.

I had a baby a few months ago, and now I have so MANY baby food jars! I don’t throw them away because I know I can use them for something fun and creative! These candle holders were the perfect craft to help me use some of them and decorate my house.

I am using the new Boo! collection from Pebbles and because it has so many gorgeous embellishments I was able to make these candle holders really quickly.

For this one I simply took some of the washi tape strips and applied them around the jar.

Keep adding washi tape until you reach the top of your jar.

To make the next one, I glued some spider webs I found in the Chips pack and embellished them with spiders.

For the last one I decided to use my enamel dots and just glued them randomly around the jar.

You can leave the jars like this, or if you want to hang them, just tie a piece of string around the jar with a double knot.

Wrap around one of the pieces of string and hold everything with your bat clothespins.

Then add a little candle inside! I decorated mine using the washi tape strips.

And you are done! You can arrange them on a table or hang them around the house.

I love that you can see through the embellishments when they are lit.

Daily Affirmations Frame

Hi y’all!  Amanda here today.  Whatever you are, be a good one.  Today is going to be awesome.  You are loved.  These are just a few of the uplifting phrases that can be found on journaling cards in Pebbles’ new DIY Home collection.  These are the types of words that I want displayed in my home on a daily basis.

Daily Affirmations Frame by @amanda_coleman1 using DIY Home from @pebblesinc

Inspired by the wooden layered frame, I created a place where these phrases could be displayed all of the time.  I chose ultra feminine patterned papers and colors as I thought this would be perfect for my nine year-old daughter’s room.  How neat would it be to have your daughter (or grandaughter, or neice, etc.) read an inspiring new phrase as she gets ready for school every day?

Daily Affirmations Frame by @amanda_coleman1 using DIY Home from @pebblesinc

Adding a gold clip to the frame makes it easy to swap out the message often.  You could even add your favorite photographs to the rotation.

There are so many uplifting and positive sayings in the DIY home collection.  The Happy Day cutouts with gold foil and the Quotables 12″x12″ are my favorite.  The 4″x4″ cards and 3″x4″ cards fit perfectly inside of the frame.  Add a  DIY Home Minc card to the frame for a lovely piece of decor.

Daily Affirmations Frame by @amanda_coleman1 using DIY Home from @pebblesinc

Paint the edges of the frames with a coordinating gold paint before adhering paper or tape to the top of the frames.  The more gold the better!

Rather than breaking out the glitter (and making a huge mess), I used the gold glitter scallop tape to create a glittery frame.  It was so easy and I didn’t get one fleck of glitter in my contacts.

After painting the edge of your frame, adhere a piece of gold glitter scallop tape to the top of the frame, pressing down firmly on the tape as you go.

Turn your frame over and trim any excess tape with a craft knife.  Repeat for all four sides of the frame.  TIP: Strategically place the scallops so the wider parts of the frame get covered evenly.

Summer Popsicle Cooler

Happy Summer, y’all!  Amanda here today with a not so unusual story.  Do you ever see something at the store and think to yourself, “I could craft the heck out of that?”  Well, I was at the dollar store the other day buying a bunch of stuff that I didn’t really need, and when I saw these little, white styrofoam coolers, I had that very same thought.   Although, like many other randomly acquired objects, I hadn’t the slightest idea of what I was going to do with it.

Popsicle Cooler by @amanda_coleman1 using @pebblesinc Fun in the Sun collectionEnter Pebbles’ Fun in the Sun collection.  The bright rainbow colors and summer themes in this collection were perfect for decking out my little white cooler.  This cooler would be a fun way to display popsicles at a party or picnic.  It would even make a fun gift for  your favorite popsicle fan.

Popsicle Cooler by @amanda_coleman1 using @pebblesinc Fun in the Sun collectionDoesn’t this look yummy?  I was just tickled that I was able to find rainbow colored popsicles at my local grocery store.

Popsicle Cooler by @amanda_coleman1 using @pebblesinc Fun in the Sun collectionI couldn’t resist this darling popsicle paper so I created a cover for the top of the cooler.

Popsicle Cooler by @amanda_coleman1 using @pebblesinc Fun in the Sun collectionI cut the paper for the top of the cooler to size and rounded the corners with my Crop-A-Dile to make the corners fit perfectly.

Popsicle Cooler by @amanda_coleman1 using @pebblesinc Fun in the Sun collectionI made a cute little banner out of the popsicle cards.  I super love that they have real popsicle sticks in them.  I added a striped paper border to accent the banner and add a little more punch to the front of the cooler.

Popsicle Cooler by @amanda_coleman1 using @pebblesinc Fun in the Sun collectionWanna know one of my dirty little crafty secrets?  I use transparent tape all the time.  It’s not fancy or magical or all the rage in adhesive technology, but it just plain works.  I adhered the popsicle cards to a piece of baker’s twine with tape.  That’s it.  And it works wonderfully.

Teacher's Gift Box by Mendi Yoshikawa using the #HomeGrown collection from @PebblesInc. @SnippetsByMendi

It’s Mendi here today with a quick and easy gift idea for the special teachers in your child’s life.  I love creating handmade gifts for my own kid’s teachers and I thought the Wooden Recipe Box from Pebbles Homemade collection was the perfect object to alter for this fun present.

Teacher's Gift Box by Mendi Yoshikawa using the #HomeGrown collection from @PebblesInc. @SnippetsByMendi

I think personalizing gifts with the Teacher’s name is always a nice touch and it was easy to achieve this using the darling foam thickers from the Homegrown collection.  I adore mixing my fonts and THIS cutting file was the perfect way to achieve this.  I think it’s pretty cool that it covers all the acronyms you might need.

The colors in Pebbles Homegrown collection are a perfect fit for a school themed project.  I love how well the colors compliment the school supplies that I added to my box and it’s a wonderful bonus that a basic box like this is able to serve so many different purposes from a recipe box to a phone/address box to a basic container to hold a multitude of different office supplies.

Teacher's Gift Box by Mendi Yoshikawa using the #HomeGrown collection from @PebblesInc. @SnippetsByMendi

To embellish my gift box I created a simple 3-D bow using a tool you might already have in your stash:  The Envelope Punch Board by We R Memory Keepers!  I have included simple instructions below with a step-by-step picture tutorial.

Teacher's Gift Box by Mendi Yoshikawa using the #HomeGrown collection from @PebblesInc. @SnippetsByMendi

Step 1:  Cut (2) 6″ x 1″ strips.  Line up the strip at the 3-inch mark on the punch board and punch notches from both sides of each strip.

Step 2:  Adhere two sides of bow (wrong sides together) with liquid adhesive.  This acts as a lining for your bow as well as adding stiffness to maintain it’s shape.

(Note: You can also reverse step 1 & 2 punching out the center after the 2 strips are adhered together).

Step 3:  Line up the center of the bow at the 3-inch mark, punching each side on both ends.

Step 4:  Gently curl each end toward the center.  I used a pencil to gently curl it.

Step 5:  Adhere the ends in the center with a bit of liquid adhesive or hot glue.  I chose to staple the center afterwards for extra stability.

Step 6:  Cut a 4.25″ x 1″ strip for the ribbon tails.  Center the strip in the punch and notch each end as shown.

Step 7:  Line the strip at the 2-1/8″ mark and notch each side of the ribbon tail in the center.

Step 8:  Add liquid adhesive or hot glue to center of bow and adhere bow portion to ribbon tail.

Step 9:  Thread twine through button using an embroidery needle, add a bit of glue to center of button and wrap button & twine around center of bow, knotting on the back.

Step 10:  Use finished 3-D bow to embellish your favorite DIY or Home Decor project.

I hope I’ve inspired you to try this quick and easy gift!  The 3-D paper bows are so much fun to make!

Mini Bee and Butterfly Gardens

Amanda here today with a quick and easy Easter decor idea for my fellow last minute slacker peeps. Easter dinner is close to the top of the list of Huge Family Meals we eat throughout the year. We are always eager to celebrate an occasion with a huge ham and big pile of cheesy potatoes. It is also one of the few meals where I actually set the table and create a fun centerpiece.

Bee and Butterfly Gardens by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Cottage and Home Grown collectionsGrab a few empty cans, some patterned paper and some flowers and bees and you’ll have some pretty, happy, spring-inspired Easter decor in no time. These mini bee and butterfly gardens are super easy to care for and the flowers are guaranteed not to wilt. You can plant wheat grass directly in the containers, or fill the containers with wheat grass from the grocery store.

Bee and Butterfly Gardens by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Cottage and Home Grown collectionsEvery flower garden needs some buzzing bees, and the enamel bee stickers from the Home Grown collection are perfect. Adhere the bees to the top of a piece of floral wire to make them appear as though they are buzzing all around.  Add a few bees and maybe a butterfly or two.

Bee and Butterfly Gardens by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Cottage and Home Grown collectionsWrap regular ol’ soup cans with patterned paper to create the pretty garden containers. I am crushing on coral right now so I chose to use coordinating coral prints from the Cottage Living collection to wrap my cans.

Bee and Butterfly Gardens by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Cottage and Home Grown collectionsCheater, cheater pumpkin eater. There is no shame in using store-bought wheat grass to fill your garden containers. No one will ever know the difference. Keep the wheat grass watered for a long lasting garden.

Bee and Butterfly Gardens by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Cottage and Home Grown collectionsGently coil floral wire around a pencil to create the springs that give the bees flight. Gently stretch the wire out and adhere the bees to the top.

Bee and Butterfly Gardens by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Cottage and Home Grown collectionsColor the white floral wire with a green marker to make the stems disappear in the green grass.

Bee and Butterfly Gardens by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Cottage and Home Grown collectionsGroup fewer containers together to change the size of your centerpiece.  It would also be fun to separate the cans and use them as place markers for Easter dinner.
Happy Easter!
