Garden Gift Containers

Happy April! Amanda here today with a quick and easy gift for the green thumbs in your life. Hopefully most of you have dug your way out of the snow by now and are ready to get your garden going. Share the garden love with your friends and family by giving a garden-themed gift container.

Garden Gift Containers by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Home Grown collectionGarden gift containers are inexpensive and come together in a snap. Start with a cute container, your favorite Pebbles patterned paper, and some seeds. For added gift giving flair, add a hand tool (or two) and a pair of garden gloves. This little watering can is super adorable, but an upcycled tin can would be just as lovely (and earth friendly).

Garden Gift Containers by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Home Grown collectionCreating a theme for the garden gift containers makes it extra fun. Gather seeds that make a fun collection such as salad, salsa, or an herb garden. Embellish the seed packets with a cute label and pretty garden-themed sticker.

Garden Gift Containers by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Home Grown collectionMake a cute garden label by fussy cutting one of the frames from the Gallery Wall paper from the Cottage Living collection. If your handwriting stinks like mine does, choose your favorite font and print directly on the labels.

Garden Gift Containers by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Home Grown collectionI wrapped the container with paper ribbon from the Happy Day collection and tied a pretty bow with jute baker’s twine.

Garden Gift Containers by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Home Grown collectionThe 3×4″ Picture Punch from We R Memory Keepers is perfect for creating seed packets. No measuring and no cutting makes creating seed packets super easy. Choose your favorite patterned papers and punch away! Each seed packet requires only two 3×4″ cards.

Garden Gift Containers by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Home Grown collectionCreate the seed packets by stapling two 3×4″ cards together at the top and bottom. Next, fold the seed packet in half and tuck in between the paper.  No fuss whatsoever.

Garden Gift Containers by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Home Grown collectionChoose a cute font and print labels on patterned paper. Die cut the labels using this cute banner die from the Cottage Living collection. Adhere the labels to the seed packets and add a cute sticker.

Garden Gift Containers by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Home Grown collectionIn an even bigger crunch for time, or have a lot of gifts to make?  Simply put a few seed packets into a small bucket  (shredded paper optional) and add a label.  Quick, easy, and sure to bring a smile! Happy planting!

Quick Hot Cocoa Gifts

Are you ready?  Christmas is only 9 days away!  If you are in need of an easy last-minute gift, look no further.  Grab a few empty jars, a piece of paper, some hot cocoa mix and get crafting.

Quick Hot Cocoa Gifts by @popperandmimi using Home for Christmas goodies by @PebblesIncWho doesn’t love hot cocoa with mini marshmallows?  It is a wintertime staple around our house.  There are so many fun ways to package up hot cocoa and marshmallows, making it a fun and easy gift to give to anyone.  Tie on a peppermint candy spoon and it becomes perfection!

Quick Hot Cocoa Gifts by @popperandmimi using Home for Christmas goodies by @PebblesIncSpaghetti jars are my favorite when giving treats as a gift.  They are big enough so you don’t feel stingy with your treats, but small enough that filling it with goodies won’t break the bank.  Wrap a strip of patterned paper around the jar and add a chalkboard label, then tie on a spoon, or a few, depending on who will get the gift.

Quick Hot Cocoa Gifts by @popperandmimi using Home for Christmas goodies by @PebblesIncBut, spaghetti jar lids are ugly.  A couple coats of white spray paint easily covers the bold colors on a jar lid.  Spray a bunch of lids at the same time and keep them on hand.

Quick Hot Cocoa Gifts by @popperandmimi using Home for Christmas goodies by @PebblesIncThese marshmallows and cocoa are packaged in an old Smuckers jelly jar.  Sometimes I like to keep unlabeled gifts on hand just in case a holiday visitor pops in.  I embellished this jar with a strip of patterned paper and a chalkboard envelope seal.

Quick Hot Cocoa Gifts by @popperandmimi using Home for Christmas goodies by @PebblesIncOne quick way to cover the lid of an upcycled jar–without the mess and and hassle of paint–is to create a paper cover.  Create a lid cover by cutting a circle that is about 2.5″ wider in diameter than the lid you are covering.

Quick Hot Cocoa Gifts by @popperandmimi using Home for Christmas goodies by @PebblesIncSpritz both sizes of the paper with water to make it more pliable.  Gently fold the damp paper around the jar lid and secure with a rubber band until the paper is dry.  Remove the rubber band and embellish as desired after the paper is dry.

Burlap Succulent Planters

Now that the holiday season is in full swing, it is time to start thinking about putting together hostess and thank you gifts.  Parties will be attended, gifts will be given, and many thanks will be returned.  Create a rustic thank you gift container with supplies you already have around the house.  Prepare a few ahead of time and you’ll always be ready with a thank you gift.

Burlap Succulent Planters by @popperandmimi using @PebblesInc Home+Made collectionI love giving small plants as gifts, not only because they are inexpensive, but because they are pretty and will last a long time.  Upcycling a small can makes for a lovely presentation and doubles as a reusable planter.

Burlap Succulent Planters by @popperandmimi using @PebblesInc Home+Made collectionUpcycled cans make lovely thank you gift containers.  They are inexpensive and readily accessible.  Wrap each can with a piece of colorful twine and a bright thank you tag and insert a low-maintenance succulent plant.

Burlap Succulent Planters by @popperandmimi using @PebblesInc Home+Made collectionYou don’t even need to pot the plants in the cans to make a nice thank you gift.  I put a couple of empty jar lids in the bottom of each can to prop up the plants, and placed the potted plant inside of the can.  This allows the recipient to decide how to use the can.  I think it would make a pretty swanky pencil cup, too.

Burlap Succulent Planters by @popperandmimi using @PebblesInc Home+Made collectionUpcycling empty cans to make gift container and planters is super easy.  Start by measuring the height of clean, empty cans and trim burlap cardstock the same height as each can.

Burlap Succulent Planters by @popperandmimi using @PebblesInc Home+Made collectionAdd a bead of hot glue along the length of the can and adhere one end of the burlap strip to the can.

Hello Pebbles fans!  Amanda here today with another fun and easy upcycled gift jar project.

The perfect little gift jar for all the sweet expecting mothers in your life made by @popperandmimi using @PebblesInc darling collection #SpecialDelivery.

As I was looking through my collection of empty food containers the other day, I saw a pair of spaghetti sauce jars that looked like they would make lovely gift containers. Inspired by the soft and delicate prints in Pebbles’ Special Delivery collections, I thought I would make some gift container for an expecting mama.

The perfect little gift jar for all the sweet expecting mothers in your life made by @popperandmimi using @PebblesInc darling collection #SpecialDelivery.

I started by spray painting the lids white.  The paint finish is pretty durable as I have put the lids on and removed them several times.  Next, I cut a strip of patterned paper and wrapped it around the jar, securing it in the back with glue dots.

I used my Bow-Easy bow maker to make the double bow at the top of each jar.  It is easy to use and it makes it really easy to get the right sides of the ribbon on the front of the bow.

Using a Prego spaghetti sauce label as my inspiration, I designed a sentiment and printed it on patterned paper.  I matted the sentiment with paper and adhered it to the jar.  I trimmed an It’s a Girl sticker and affixed it to the jar.

I used the same sentiment for both gift jars.  Click on the Freebies tab on my blog to download this sentiment for free.
Happy repurposing!

Bug Jar

Nothing says summer like activities with the kids. If you’re embarking on a fun-filled summer with kids at home, or maybe just plan to have the grandkids over, you will love Amanda Coleman’s bug jar!

Summer

I love taking a seemingly useless item and turning it into something fun.  I turned an ordinary, plastic peanut butter jar into a cute little bug jar where my kids could house their creepy crawlies throughout the summer.

The Garden Party collection is perfect for creating a little scene on a bug jar.  The flower and bug die cuts made it really easy to embellish a jar in no time.  The little sun is actually a flower die cut, but pairing it with some fussy cut clouds makes it look more like a bright sun.

I adhered a combination of die cuts, stickers, and fussy cut images to the outside of the bug jar.  Aren’t those little bees the cutest?

I covered the top of the jar with a piece of patterned paper and drilled a few holes into the top of the lid.  I labeled the jar with some coordinating Thickers.  Super easy.

I backed the jar with a cloud print to complete the little scene, but you could easily leave this off so you can see through the jar from all directions.

To make the grass, cut a couple strips of patterned paper.  Cut fringe in each strip with a pair of scissors and add some texture by trimming the top of the grass at an angle.
