Hello! It’s Mendi here today, and I’m super excited to be sharing some simple school-themed cards using Pebbles Back To School Collection!

Back to School Logo

These are perfect for a special teacher in your child’s life or even to make multiples of to give as a boxed set for a new teacher.

First up I have a card featuring some simple hand-cut pennants along with one of the stickers from the collection which I popped up with foam tape and added a little red button to the letter “o” for a fun detail.

Up next is a quick and easy card using the darling crayon stickers.  I wanted as much of the crayons to show as possible so I cut each of them in half and lengthened them by approximately 3/4″ before adhering them to my card panel.  I was then able to hide my alteration with the cute phrase sticker.

For my next card I used several of the circle accent stickers to create some fun little hanging tags dressed up with some basic metal rimmed office tags and tied with American Crafts Ribbon.

My last card features more of the circle accent stickers and a fun bow made with some American Crafts Ribbon.

I created a little picture tutorial on how to assemble this cute bow, along with 7 easy steps.

Step 1: Cut (2) 5″ ribbons and (1) 4″ ribbon.

Step 2: Apply Liquid Adhesive to each end of ribbon and fold inward, adhering in the center.

Step 3:  Adhere two longest ribbon loops together with liquid adhesive and add smallest loop to center.

Step 4:  With a needle, wrap thread around the center several times and tie with knot (can also be done without the needle).

Step 5:  Cut (1) 2.5″ ribbon and (1) 2.75″ ribbon with notches from each end as pictured.

Step 6:  Adhere notched ribbon to back of bow with liquid adhesive.  Add a drop of glue for center bow piece.

Step 7:  Wrap 2.5″ ribbon around the center of bow, securing on back side with more liquid adhesive.Pebbles Inc. Back To School Cards with Bow Tutorial by Mendi Yoshikawa @PebblesInc. @Mendi Yoshikawa

I hope you will give it a try!  I think it would be darling done up in so many of American Crafts fun ribbon prints!

Hi everyone! This is Eva Pizarro and today I wanted to show a step by step tutorial of this back to school layout. This line is super cute and perfect for your school photos, my favorite are those little stickers with apples, stars, etc.

To do this layout you will need:

  • back to school papers
  • Back to School embellishments
  • a background cut with an electronic cutting machine

Attach your photo and use one of the stickers as your title. I wanted to use some foam dots underneath the sticker so I sprinkled it with some baby powder first.

Quilted Layout

Hi everyone, this is Eva Pizarro and today I’m going to show you how to do a layout with a quilt-inspired background using the new Home+Made collection.  I love to get inspired by a nice pattern and you can find many great background patterns in quilting.

Along with @PebblesInc, @tatertotsjello introduces her new collection - Home+Made! #JHHomeMade

I started by cutting circles with my 1.5 inch circle punch and my 6×6 paper pad from the Home+Made collection. I love 6×6 pads because you don’t have to use an entire sheet of paper for just a little piece, plus you get the designs in a smaller scale, and if you are cutting small pieces they look better.

I cut 5 circles from 8 different patterned papers and cut them in 4. Don’t worry if the 4 pieces are not exactly even – you won’t notice this in the final result.

Leave a 1 inch gap around the border, and start by doing the first 4×4 square (4 rows and 4 lines of quarter circles) following this pattern.

Repeat this same pattern 8 times to complete 9 squares.

Attach the quarter circles to the layout. I used a liquid glue and attached some washi tape over the tips of the paper pieces to prevent them from moving.

Machine stitch all around your background, mat your photo with patterned paper and attach it to your layout with your sewing machine.

Add the title and some embellishments, and this is it! Here is the final result!

World Travel Map Tutorial

One of the things most fun about working with a design team is seeing the many ways they utilize similar product. For Design Team Member Samantha Taylor‘s From Me to You share, she created an amazing world travel map tutorial.

What a fun project!

Word Travel Map

I thought it would be fun to make a world map to keep track of my travels. From Me to You was not only the perfectly named collection for a world map, but the patterns and gorgeous colors are versatile and timeless enough that I can put a map together that will be beautiful for recording my travels for years and years to come.

Tutorial

Cover the back of a large frame with fabric and place inside the frame. My frame measures 16″ x 20″. I chose to cover it with burlap, but any fabric would work.

Chose your papers. You’ll need 7 different patterns from From Me to You for the
continents and 1 for the banner.

Cut your papers in the shape of the world continents. I used a Silhouette Die Cutting Machine (you can find a step-by-step of how I sized and cut the world map using the Silhouette here), but a Cricut would work as well.

You can also find a map online, print it out and use it as a template for tracing and hand cutting the world map.

I cut some pieces to include part of their neighboring continent to make lining up and attaching your pieces easier.

For example, I cut Asia (as seen above) to include about a 1/2″ strip of Europe. I added adhesive to that 1/2″ strip, lined it up and attached it directly under the full piece of Europe.

Attach your continents to frame.

Cut a banner by hand or with a die cutting machine.

Use alphabet stickers to spell out “ADVENTURE”.

Use the From Me to You Roller Stamp to stamp “Awaits.”

Attach to the frame.

Cut small hearts and stars from coordinating card stock. Use these to mark locations where you have traveled, or places you would like to travel.

Friday Tip-Use Your Scraps

It’s my final day on the blog and I’ve had a lot of fun seeing everyone’s projects and hearing the response! So, as you’ve seen, Friday’s on the Pebbles blog is the day the design team member provides you with a tip on a technique, shows you how to do the technique, etc. Well, this part of hosting the blog had me THE MOST nervous. You see, I’m the most untechniquey person I know, and I obviously like to make up words to boot!

My tip for you this week is to use up those scraps. We all saw those beautiful Pebbles products and paper lines in the CHAW pictures so now it’s time to use up the products we already have to make room! I know that’s what I’m doing and am super excited to get my hands on those new products! The design team did some great layouts to show how to use up those little scraps you have laying around.

When I have scraps I normally use my go to design of a grid, whether it’s using a circle punch or square punch to make that grid. I love all punches to use up scraps and add some extra embellishment to layouts. For this layout I used this punch:

With this I cut from scraps in the Linnie Bell collection and made a grid for this layout:

I also added some butterflies with the Martha Stewart punch for an added touch:

After I arranged the circles, I just added some extra embellishments, like Pebbles Chips, and candy dots on the flowers. Voila, scraps are used and a layout created!

Celeste made a layout from scraps that she had leftover from this project:

From these scraps she cut candles to highlight her family’s Hanukkah celebration and it turned out so, so well!

Mimi used her scraps by making strips on her layout, plus outlining the cardstock to make a great frame around the entire layout!

Emeline also used a circle punch for her scraps, however she used many different sizes and layered them beautifully! Love how this layout looks with all the colors!

Sophia chose to go a different route and made a gift box out of scraps rather than a layout and I am so going to copy this! In the 2nd photo you’ll notice she lined the inside of the box with paper from the So Tweet collection, then added ribbon and chips on the outside for final embellishment:

Another great way to use up scraps is to frame up photos on your layout like Cherie did. These photos from her baby shower really pop with the color behind them:

And finally, Suzanne made these absolutely gorgeous flowers with her scraps to make embellishments on her layout. The embossed flowers really tied the strips of paper together on the rest of the layout:

And a close up of the flowers:

My time on the blog has been so much fun! Thank you all for taking a look at all the wonderful projects the design team created. Now bring on the new CHA products!!!
