Unique Card for a Unique Mom

Hey all!
One week until time to celebrate something we all have: Mother.
Usually this is one of the highlights of the year in our family, but this year we are going to continue protecting our loved ones and not celebrating Mother’s Day together.
Thanks for technology, at least we can talk through videos and phone.

Instead of a hand made card, I decided on creating a mini book about a vacation we had together with my Mom last fall. We travelled to Canary Islands, just the two of us, to breath and relax. I have captured all the photos to my scrapbook albums, but thought these photos would offer highly appreciated memories to my Mom. Especially during the situation we are living in now.

The mini book has been created in very simple steps. The cover has three pieces of card board, all covered with beautiful patterned paper from Lovely Moments collection. To be specific, the paper is called “Springs”.
The pages inside are actually cards from the Lovely Moments Boxed Cards. Three cards together inside each other. Five card sets attached to the cover using embroidery thread. Firm knots, and that’s it!

To add some glamour and shiny elements for the cover, I added lots of sequins at the same with attaching the pages.
You only need a needle to make a book with adorable embellishments!

There are lots of photos inside the mini book, but also lots of empty space for my Mom to write her own memories. I used thickers to write couple main titles like “beach day” and “good night”, but the rest is for her to write.

I tried my best to make thick covers enough to keep the mini album closed. But again I made it too thin or too many pages. This happens every time!
In the end I solved the problem by adding lace ribbons to keep the book closed, and I think it looks better now.

Hope you have a moment to create something beautiful today!

A Gift for Travelers

Hello crafty friends, hope you’re doing well? Today I find you for a new article. Last week was my friend’s birthday, she wanted a personalized gift. She loves to travel, I had the idea of creating a mini album that I slipped into a suitcase. I show you the result! To make this album, I used the Fun and Sun collection from Pebbles.

The first step was to create the suitcase. For the form, I used a cereal box which I cut in half. Then I covered it with papers from the collection. To create the corners, I used a round hole punch. I fold my circle in 4 then I cut and glued it. It is a very simple technique to create clean and simple angles. To make the suitcase more realistic, I added straps all around the suitcase. On the front of my suitcase, I create a beach landscape. I cut out the clouds in a paper from the collection. To create the sea, I use a paper from the collection that I cut and sewn to make it more realistic. Then, I had fun adding die cuts to create my decor. I finished by adding my title “Summer memories”.

On the side of my suitcase I wanted to create a charm. I used wooden beads and a sticker shaker from the collection.

The magic of this suitcase is that it contains an album. I did not want to make a classic suitcase that opens. The peculiarity of this suitcase is that the top of the suitcase is pulled to take out the album.

As you will have understood, the edge of my album is the top of my suitcase. To make it more realistic I added a hanse. To make it more solid when you pull the hanse, I sewn it on the edge.

I wanted my album to be fitting with the suitcase. so I used the same blue paper from the suitcase for the cover. Then I create a strip with papers from the collection. I added die cuts and puffy dots. Finally, to make my album more resistant, I added metal corners in the corners.

I hope you liked my suitcase and my album made with the Fun and sun collection of Pebbles, I can’t wait to see your creations. See you soon!

Five Tips to create Quick and Easy Invitations

Hey everyone!
Terhi here again, wishing you the happiest Friday!
Today I want to share tips and tricks for creating unique invitation cards.
To create these four invitations I used Hey, Hello! Boxed Cards. The package includes 40 cards and envelopes, all good to go just the way they are.
Instead of writing my own greetings and sending them away like that, I decided on adding handmade look. Altering the cards is fun, easy and quick.
And here are my best tips to make them look better than ever!

1. Use one card to alter another.
To have matching floral elements to decorate the invitations, I fussy cut couple of flowery cards from the Hey, Hello! Boxed Cards. To get bigger and smaller florals too, I used patterned papers from the same line but most of what you can see here are from the Boxed Cards package.

2. Sentiments.
“Happily Ever After” surely sounds more like a sentiment on top of a greeting card, but fortunately there are no rules for crafty things like that. That’s why I thought it would be great to create “Happily Ever After” invitations for a wedding, engagement party or similar.
What do you think?

3. Be prepared.
Most of us are inviting someone to somewhere to some occasion during the next 365 days, right? Would it be great to be prepared with handmade invitations in advance!
General titles like “Celebrate” or “Today is the Day” would fit for any occasion. Just to mention few, the “Celebrate” would be perfectly for a Birthday Party, House Warming Party, Girls/Boys/Ladies/Gentlemen Night Out or even for a Baby Shower.

4. Add layers.
The fussy cut elements I talked before can be adhered here and there, but I like to make them look more real by gathering them to one spot and layering them. To make the process easier, you can use glue for some, foam dots for some and even two layers of foam dots for the ones you want to get shown the most.
Also, don’t forget the envelopes! Couple of nice flowers makes the envelopes look much more interesting and pretty.

5. Play with sizes.
The Boxed Cards from the Hey, Hello! line, as well as from all other Pebbles lines, are slightly smaller than 4″ x 6″. The envelopes are 4″ x 6″ which makes total sense in order to make the cards fit in perfectly. The 4″ x 6″ is a good and traditional size, but it isn’t the only possible size and shape. I cut these invitations to the size 3,5″ x 3,5″ and now they look so cute in square form.
Use your imagination to make the cards triangle, teeny tiny squares or maybe half circle!

What was your favorite of these five tips?
And what is your own tip for creating invitations?
If you have a tip to share, please comment here below as I would love reading them!
Have a great and crafty weekend!

Gift Boxes With Hey, Hello

Hello Pebbles friends! Marcia here today. With most people around the world right now sheltering in place to help reduce the spread of coronavirus, no birthday parties or wedding receptions or baby showers or celebrations of any kind involving groups of people are happening. I want to make sure some special people in my life still feel loved even if we cannot be together for special events. My Mother-in-law just turned 80 and I couldn’t even give her a hug! I decided to make some little gift boxes to deliver to some special people with some goodies inside. I used two coordinating sheets of 12×12 of pattern papers from the beautiful Hey, Hello collection and decorated my boxes with tags that can be cut from pattern paper. Boxes are easy to make. I used a cut file from SVGcuts , but they can also be made without using a cutting machine.

The Hey, Hello collection is perfect for special occasions of all kinds, like birthdays.

There is plenty of room inside for cupcakes, donuts, or cookies.

Layer up a couple tags and a ribbon on the top to make your box so festive looking.

This next gift box could be used for a birthday as well, but I’m giving it to a girl who will be graduating from high school. Commencements have been canceled. I can put candy, gift cards, or cash inside.

I added a tag cut from pattern paper to the top along with a die cut phrase ephemera piece and some ribbon.

But don’t think this collection is just for kids… This beautiful floral box went to my Mother-in-law. It would be perfect for Mother’s Day too. There are lots of other beautiful floral papers that would make lovely gift boxes.

I put her favorite chocolates inside. Once again I adorned my box with ribbon, a tag, die cut ephemera, and cut paper leaves.

Do you have anyone special you can’t be with right now? Why not create a special gift box for them. You don’t need a special occasion to tell someone your thinking of them.

Gift Card Mini Album

Hey everyone, Michelle here today sharing a new project using the Merry Little Christmas collection. I’ve always wanted to do a mini album for gift cards and this collection was perfect for it. I used a cut file from Lori Whitlock. I started it off by cutting the base out of white AC cardstock. That way I knew that anything I added would match. I went with a bright red paper for the cover and these gorgeous gold phrase thickers!

I added one piece of ephemera to each page of the album. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t too thick and wouldn’t stay closed.

I also added a strip of washi on top of each page. I love how washi is so easy to use!

I love how the gift cards fit perfectly in the little pockets.

I also added some floral paper on the inside covers, just to make it more colorful!

This little album will hold 6 gift cards. How fun is that?? I haven’t decided who I’m giving it to yet. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!
