Homemade Gift Packaging

So often birthdays are focused on the very young. It’s easy to find fun party ideas and cute gifts for children, but what about the adults?! Today Design Team Member Kim Kesti is sharing some fun homemade gift packaging ideas – perfect for birthdays!

Homemade Gift Packaging

The Front Porch collection is just perfect for dressing up homemade gifts. It’s especially great for a jar of homemade jam!

These jars are so easy to make! Wrap the jar with a strip of patterned paper, then add a punched circle on top.

Create a simple “matchbook” for the tag (a staple hold this in shape) dressed up with a chipboard leaf.

Tie some twine and pop the whole thing into a kraft bag.

Stitch a phrase card on a bit of patterned paper for a rustic tag and your gift is ready to give!

Supply List:

Front Porch Welcome (732315)
Front Porch Cottage (732318)
Front Porch Phrase Cards (732330)
Front Porch Chips (732335)
Front Porch Phrase Stickers (732328)

Handmade Birthday Card with Pebbles Basics

There’s nothing sweeter than a handmade birthday card, especially when it’s as pretty and feminine as this “Hello Happy Birthday” design created by Kathy Martin.

Here’s a bit more from Kathy…

While I adore bright colors and eye catching designs and gravitate to them for most of my projects, I like to mix things up sometimes and create something a bit softer. Would you believe this birthday card was made with the vibrantly colored Basics collection? It’s a pretty versatile line!

Birthday Garland and Party Favor Boxes

We’re continuing on with our birthday theme today and Design Team Member Wendy Sue Anderson is sharing a double dose of fun with her birthday garland and favor boxes.

Decorating for a birthday celebration doesn’t necessarily have to mean balloons and noisemakers or “themed” items. As my children get a bit older (and become teenagers), I realize I have to be a bit more understated with the decorations and party favors.

My daughter recently turned 16 and instead of bright pink polka-dots (which I love, by the way), I decided to use products from the new “From Me to You” collection…the perfect balance between bright & fun and soft & feminine.

Today I am sharing my two favorite projects from the party – the frame/photo garland and the party favor boxes.

The banner was so easy to make and it was a hit.  I simply used the picture frame hang tags and filled them with photos or other embellishments and then I added them to a string, along with the banner thickers spelling her name, and hung it up on a frame near the table.

The best part about this project is that now she can place it in her room as a decoration!

The party favor boxes served as part of the decor until the party was over – and they were really easy to put together.  Here’s how:

1.  Cut the gable box shape using a Silhoeutte Cameo (cut several different papers for a fun variety)

 2.  Fold along the scored lines

3.  Use strong adhesive to put the box together

4.  Cut the sentiments from one of the cards in the Cardmaking Pad (they are smaller and the perfect size for these little boxes) – cut them into banner shapes

5.  Use a mini clotehspin to attach the banners to the top of the boxes after they are filled with treats

Birthday Wallet

Did you know that September is the most popular month for birthdays in the United States? It is. To be more specific, September 9 & 16 are the busiest “birth” days in the year.
To celebrate, we will be sharing fun birthday projects all week long starting with a fantastic birthday card/gift combo from Design Team Member Amanda, from Popper and Mimi.

Gift Card Wallet by Amanda

My kids love receiving gift cards for their birthdays so I created a fun paper wallet to fill with a variety of gift cards, and even a little bit of cash!

Lots and lots of wallet pockets means lots and lots of fun gifts for your birthday guy or gal. The stitching adds an authentic feel to the wallet. Insert a special note and a place to write a name.

Embellish the outside of the wallet with fun stickers, die-cuts, and decorative tape.

Cut a 9″x 3.5″ piece of paper and stitch around the edge.  Cut several smaller sized pieces to make the inside pockets of the wallet.  Stitch only along the edges that will remain open.

Layer the pockets and stitch them together along the outside edges.  Adhere pockets to inside of wallet and stuff with goodies!

FROM ME TO YOU CARDSTOCK STICKERS
FROM ME TO YOU ROLLER STAMP
FROM ME TO YOU LIBRARY POCKETS WITH CARDS
FROM ME TO YOU CHIPS PRINTED CHIPBOARD PIECES
