Hi friends! It’s Wendy Sue – joining you on the blog today to share a special project I created recently.
My Grandpa passed away almost 17 years ago, but this week we will celebrate his 100th birthday! Our family is gathering together for a little celebration in his honor and I thought I’d create a fun little banner to decorate with.
I wanted the banner to be fun, but masculine, just like my grandpa – so I chose the “Home+Made” collection by Jen Hadfield for this project.
I especially loved the burlap cardstock for making this banner more grandpa-like!
Would you like to hear how you can make a banner just like this in less than 30 minutes? The secret is in the bag. Literally!
Start with the Kraft Bags and the banner die, both from this collection.
Flip the bag over and place the die directly on top of the bag – the trick is to put the top of the banner die slightly above the bag’s fold.
Now when you run the bag through the die cutting machine, you will have a folded banner – the front and back are attached!
This means you can hang your twine, or ribbon, or whatever you are using to hold your banner/bunting and then simply place the fold directly onto the twine!
Of course, before you hang your pieces, you’ll want to embellish them for the occasion!
I thought these coordinating stickers were especially appropriate for a “memorial” celebration banner:
Thanks for taking a peek at my project – I hope I’ve inspired you to make a quick and easy banner just like this one (with the sneaky bag trick) for your next celebration!
