Give the Gift of Kind Words

Hi friends! It’s Wendy Sue here today, sharing a project filled with kindness! My assignment was to create a project based on “giving” or “receiving” and I chose giving, of course! My favorite thing to GIVE is a kind word or a bit of encouragement. Whenever I can use paper and glue to make those words into a little gift, I call it a double win!

I used the “This is Family” collection to create this set of cards. I knew I wanted to make a bunch, so I kept the design pretty simple. I started by cutting several different papers into 3 3/4″ squares. Next, I cut half of those squares in half diagonally. I used my sewing machine to stitch each half square onto a full square, right up the middle.

Then I cut apart all of the 3″ squares on the cut-apart sheet in the collection. I placed one square in the center of each stitched piece.

Finally, I attached each piece to a 4″ square card cut from white cardstock. I also added a sticker or die cut to some of the card fronts.

My plan is to write notes to some of the special people in my life, telling them WHY I think they are special, why I am thankful for them, and what makes them so great! I hope they appreciate hearing a kind word as much as I know I would! I plan to share a card or two each day from now until Thanksgiving. 🙂

Hello friends, it’s Lucile! Today I find you for a new layout! I wanted to scrap a Christmas photo from last year with my mom. What’s better than Pebbles’ Merry Little Christmas collection for our Christmas creations?

First, I cut out a lot of labels that I pasted on a patterned paper from the collection. Then I sewed all along the left side with white thread. I stuck my paper on the left side of my white checkered paper.

I decided to print my photo in black and white because my page was already very colorful. I stuck it in the center of my page. Then I added “Best holiday season ever” with the phrases from the collection. I also added a Santa Claus. Above my picture, I added some die cuts from the collection.

To add volume to my page, I pasted some elements with 3D foams.

Finally, I added a tag at the top left of my page to make a reminder with the tags.

I hope you enjoyed this layout, I’ll see you soon for a new Christmas creation! See you soon.

Rolled paper wreaths

Hello everyone! It’s Eva on the blog today, showing you how to create some easy and fun wreaths to decorate your house or your presents this year.

I am using the Merry Little Christmas line and its colors are perfect, classic but with cute patterns and a touch of blue that creates a modern combination!

To create my little wreaths, I started but cutting little strips of paper. Mine were 3/8 inch wide and used mainly papers from the 12×12 paper pad.

I rolled my strips with quilling tools from We R Memory Keepers. You can use a manual tool or a powered USB tool. Both are great! Kids can help too because it is easy and fun!

Don’t roll the paper strips too tight, otherwise, you are not going to be able to insert the wire!

To create the wreath I used some Happy Jig wire and a glass as my guide. On each wreath, I put 18 rolled papers and my decorations were 3 inches wide.

You can leave them like this but I decided to include a sentiment on the inside. Again, I used my Happy Jig wire and created the word with some pliers and my hands, the wire bends easily!

I also made one with my son’s name, how cool is that?

The final touch was a small tag that I cut from one of the patterned papers. I love to have ready-made tags, It makes everything easier!

How cute are these small wreaths?

You can use them as tree decorations, to give as gifts, as place holders, so many possibilities!

Star Garland

Hello Pebbles friends! Marcia here today. Do you like to make some of your own Christmas decorations? I love adding homemade touches around my house… like this star garland. These origami stars can be made into ornaments for the Christmas tree or added to a swag to decorate your fireplace mantle.

To make my star garland I selected a variety of 6×6 pattern papers from the Merry Little Christmas 6×6 paper pad.

The first step to making these stars is to fold and cut the 6×6 papers into pentagon shapes. There is a fabulous tutorial I highly recommend on how to fold the stars here.

Once I had all my stars folded, I tied them to my swag garland with some gold thread.

This is even a craft you could do with older children. Here are some closer views of the stars…

Easy Christmas Countdown Project

Well, hello friends! I know…we’re only a week into November…but a girl’s gotta get prepared!! I’m Wendy Sue and I’m happy to be joining you here on the blog today, sharing my 12 Days of Christmas countdown project for this year!

This is a fun, yet quick and easy, way to count down the 12 days before Christmas. Each day is represented with a simple numbered pillow box. Inside each box I will include a small treat plus an activity or project we will be doing on that day! Here’s a quick tutorial for creating the boxes:

I used the new “Merry Little Christmas” collection and I just love how the patterns are so fun to mix and match! Start by cutting out the pillow boxes. I used my silhouette (there are tons of pillow box cut files available online – use the one you like!), but you can also find a template and cut them out by hand – they are super easy to make! Use strong tape to attach the box sides, especially if you’ll be including something heavier (like chocolate, hint-hint) inside!

Wrap a long length of string around the box and tie in a knot.

Now it’s time to make the cute tags for each box. You’ll need the large tree tag punch by EK Success, green cardstock, and the washi tape that coordinates with this collection.

Punch 24 tags (they will be doubled up). Cover the tree portion with washi tape – you can use one style or layer a few. Sandwich the washi tape by placing a second tag over the top. Replace the tree cut-out on the back to strengthen the opening.

If desired, add nuvo dots for dimension and interest. You could also add enamel dots or other types of embellishments. Tie the tag onto the string. Add a bow.

Now add the number to each box. I used several different syles of Thickers from my stash.

Repeat the process to create 12 boxes!

Now sit back, relax, and wait for December 12th to arrive so you can start counting down with your fun creation!
