I can hardly believe my kiddos will be out of school for the summer in just a few short days! I always like to surprise them with a fun little last-day-of school lunch, some fun summertime gifts, and of course a little bit of summer decorating! (Although I’ll be the first to admit that the decorating is more for me…but they’ve never complained, so I call that a win! 😉 ) It doesn’t take a lot of time to whip up some decor to make a celebration special – here’s the quick and easy summer banner I’ll be hanging up on Friday morning:

It really was easy! Here’s how to make it. Start by cutting six 4″ x 5″ blocks from a fun printed paper. Cut notches in the bottom of each block.

Next, cut several of the fun 3×4 cards from the sheet.

One of my favorite “tricks” to make something look a little more handmade, which I equate with a little more “special,” is to add a bit of machine stitching. It only took a few minutes to stitch with coordinating colors of thread around each of the 3×4 cards.

Next, I embellished each card with printed die cuts, or stickers, or both! Some are attached with foam adhesive squares for extra dimension.

I stacked a 3×4 card onto each floral banner and punched holes in the top, connecting them with string.

See how quick and easy?!? Now it’s time to welcome summer – I hope you get to decorate and celebrate soon too! ♥
