Hello all! Terhi Koskinen here with my first post using My Bright Life collection and Metallic Cream Chalks from Pebbles Inc.

As much as I’m keen on mixed media, I love to keep my projects quick and easy.  So even though you might sometimes see multiple layers on my projects, they are always quick and easy to do. To proof this to you, I’m playing Metallic Cream Chalks today for the first time ever, and using them to make shiny addition to My Bright Life Card Kit cards.

My Bright Life Card Kit includes everything you need to make beautiful cards: card bases, envelopes, foam dots and die cuts. So all I did was that I added some chalk through a stencil on each card I worked with, and then couple drops of white mist. Easy, right?

If you still hesitate, just take a look to a video I recorded while playing and you’ll be finally convinsed to give a small mixed media vibe to your next cards.

Thank you for watching – remember to subscribe my YouTube channel.

“My Bright Life” Card Challenge

If you’re familiar at all with my style, you know that I love a white (or solid) background with little pops of color.  At the same time, I love, love, love, a fresh and colorful design! So you can imagine the turmoil I felt when I opened up the new “My Bright Life” collection – it’s filled with so many (many, many, many) beautiful, colorful, happy designs!  I wanted to use every single one of them!   Here’s where fate played a role – my assignment was to challenge myself to craft outside my comfort zone!  So I did!!  I challenged myself to create a card using at least FIVE patterned papers – on the SAME card!  Yes, it was a challenge, for sure!

Here’s my first attempt:

"My Bright Life" Card Challenge by @WendySue for @PebblesInc.

I know…I kind of chickened out a bit.  I picked papers with only a few colors.  It was still a challenge to incorporate several patterned papers, with no solids, and I really like the way the card turned out, but I felt like I didn’t rise to the spirit of the challenge."My Bright Life" Card Challenge by @WendySue for @PebblesInc.

So I tried again!  This time I picked papers that I wouldn’t necessarily choose under any other circumstance.  I love them each on their own, but I struggle with mixing bold patterns.

What do you think?  I think I did a little bit better on this one!  "My Bright Life" Card Challenge by @WendySue for @PebblesInc.

And then I thought I should give it another go.  So I made this card:

And this card:

Then I made another one!

And before I knew it, I had a half dozen cards completed!

And now I want to create a dozen more!!

So now, I challenge YOU!  Either take my challenge, or challenge yourself to craft outside your comfort zone.  You just might be surprised at the outcome!

Inspiration with a globe from guest blogger Zinia!

Hello everyone! Zinia here! I’m really thrilled to be a guest designer on the Pebbles blog today.

Zinia here... and I LOVE the My Bright Life Collection from Jen Hadfield!
I’m madly in love with the My Bright Life collection by Jen Hadfield and you can probably tell by the amount of product I added on my page. I intended to make a simple page with a few elements but everything was so pretty that I couldn’t stop adding more and more!

Zinia here... and I LOVE the My Bright Life Collection from Jen Hadfield! The design of my page is inspired by one of the images in the collection, a globe with flowers around it. I couldn’t resist making this the spotlight of my page but since the ephemera piece that had this globe design was pretty small, I created my own version to cover the whole page.

Zinia here... and I LOVE the My Bright Life Collection from Jen Hadfield!I started by roughly drawing a circle with a pencil and then I doodled the globe structure around it. I pulled out all the ephemera pieces with flowers and I also fussy cut a few images from various pattern papers.

Zinia here... and I LOVE the My Bright Life Collection from Jen Hadfield! In the center of my globe, I added one of the beautiful layered stickers that comes in the collection.  I started building my floral arrangement around it after that. A bunch of layers later…the floral part of my globe was ready.

To make the design even more fun and whimsical, I decided to add some mixed media. I colored the globe skeleton with a mermaid marker by Jane Davenport. I then used a couple of Heidi Swapp Color Shine sprays to add colorful splatters all around.

Zinia here... and I LOVE the My Bright Life Collection from Jen Hadfield!
I found a little corner for my photo at the side of the globe and I also added the title right below it using the gorgeous gold thickers from this collection.

That’s pretty much it! It’s a really fun page to make and I’m crazy in love with the way it turned out.
I really hope you enjoyed this layout and are inspired to create your own version of this floral globe.  You won’t regret it, especially when using this beautiful collection.

Hello Pebbles’ fans! It’s Eva Pizarro on the blog today bringing you step by step instructions to create a layout using only patterned paper.

Challenge yourself to use only patterned paper for your next layout! @evapizarrov used the new My Bright Life collection from @pebblesinc to create this lovely layout. #pebblesinc #madewithpebbles

Here in Chile, it’s not easy to find scrapbook supplies and they are very expensive so I thought it would be fun to show you how to create a layout using only the beautiful papers from the My Bright Life collection. These patterns are gorgeous and have many designs that you can cut and create your own die cuts.

I started by cutting 5/8 inch strips of 3 different patterned papers with my Trim and Score. The floral one is my favorite!

Next, I used my precision scissors to cut some designs from different 12×12 papers. You can cut the 3×4 cards or cut a few designs from papers also!

I placed my strips of paper on a triangle shape, creating a diamond in the center of the page.

To create my subtitle I used my Word Punch Board and used the negative letters. This punch board is super fun!

To add more dimension to the paper designs I used 3d dots, you could also bend the strips a bit!

Have you tried making a layout using only patterned paper? I think it is a great exercise! And with Pebbles’ lovely patterns you can’t go wrong!

Embroidered Scrapbooking Layout | Challenge Yourself

Hi everyone, Heather Leopard is here. This week is all about challenging ourselves. I went about tackling this by doing something relatively new to me – Mixed Media – and something I LOVE to do but never make the time to do – Hand Stitching.  Take a look at this embroidered scrapbooking layout and then keep reading to see how it all came together.

As you can see, I did not shy away from this challenge. I just fell in love with the floral patterned paper and absolutely HAD to create an embroidered scrapbooking layout.

To get started, I trimmed the upper right and lower left triangles of my layout. If I had been machine stitching a pattern, I would normally have stitched the entire thing but I knew I didn’t want to embroider something that I would have to cut apart. I added a small cluster of die cut flowers and a wood embellishment to the top portion of the layout.  Just a little since the embroidered patterned paper was quite busy enough.

This is the lower half. As you can see, I spent way too many hours poking holes and threading the needle doing what I refer to as a regular stitch and french knots. If you are thinking about doing this, I suggest finding a comfy spot of the couch and binge watching your favorite show. Or if you have a road trip (and your the passenger) or a long flight.

I added two photos to the layout. I was originally going to tuck them both under the pretty embroidered patterned paper so I wouldn’t have to cover any of it up but it didn’t look right so I tucked one under and another over. That’s when it felt right!  I also added some layers of patterned paper and vellum and die cuts, 3D stickers and regular stickers.

Oh, the mixed media…I added white gesso to the yellow patterned paper background and then applied watered down mist to the gesso. I just needed to soften up the background slightly and add a few pops of color. All I need to do now is add my journaling – private words to my daughters will be written on those lines above!

There you have it – my labor of love, literally and figuratively!  I hope you have enjoyed seeing how I challenged myself this month and hope you will try something just a bit outside of your comfort zone very soon!

xoxo, Heather
