Hello everyone! It’s Eva Pizarro on the blog today sharing a DIY travel Journal for your next trip using the lovely Patio Party collection.

Create a DIY Travel Journal for your next trip with this tutorial from @evapizarrov using the new @pebblesinc Patio Party Collection #pebblesinc #madewithpebbles

I have never used a Travel Journal but our next vacation is going to be the last one in a few months so I thought I would give it a try! Making your own Travel Journal is very easy and all you need are patterned papers and white plain paper.

To make the album cut your patterned papers to the desired size. I cut my paper 8 1/2 inch wide and  7 3/4 inch height. I used the gorgeous papers from the Patio Party collection that I think are perfect for summer photos!

Bend your papers in half and make a cover 1/4 inch bigger than the inside pages.

Next, cut some white plain paper to make your inside pages, I used an old notebook because I liked the square pattern.

Hold all the pages together with big clips and using your Staple Board, put 3 staples on your album. The Staple Board lets you see exactly where you are stapling so it is perfect for this project!

Next, use a craft knife to trim all the papers.

To close my Travel Journal I used one of these gold safety pins and some elastic. I secured the edges with my USB glue gun and then used some Stitch Happy thread to embellish it.

You can open the Travel Journal by sliding the closure or by opening the safety pin!

I decorated the front of my Travel Journal with a few die cuts and a wood veneer.

My Journal is ready and all I have to do now is fill it! You can carry small alphas, a few stickers and washi tapes with you and that way you can scrap on the go! Have you ever used a Travel Journal?

Spring Fling Cards

Hi everyone, Heather Leopard is here with some Spring Fling cards. You know they say April showers bring May flowers and that goes for cards too!
Spring Cards by @HeatherLeopard using @pebblesinc #patioparty collection #madewithpebbles #spring #cards #flowercards

These cards are quick and easy to pull together and can be used for practically any occasion.  I’ll walk you through each of them individually.

Spring Cards by @HeatherLeopard using @pebblesinc #patioparty collection #madewithpebbles #spring #cards #flowercards

This card is inspired by the dimensional sticker die cuts.  I was looking at them in the packaging while I was trying to come up with a design and I put them down for a second. Well I just happened to place them down on the card base and when I came back, I noticed that they fit perfectly on the card.  I simply cut the white and gold paper 3.5″ long x 4″ wide, 1/4″ x 4″ of the gold and then 1 1/4″ x 4″ of the blue to cover the base of the card, leaving a white border at the top and the bottom.

Then I placed the dimensional stickers on top of the white and gold dots just as they were in the package.  Next, I added the gold strip.

To complete the card, I added the blue patterned paper to the bottom and the gold hello puffy sentiment.  So easy and yet so adorable!

My 2nd card has the same background as the first – I just love the gold and white dots. This card features a patterned paper backed die cut (from Paige Evans) and another puffy sticker sentiment.

This card took a little more time and effort to create but it was worth it in my opinion.  I hadn’t planned to create something so detailed but I had an extra die cut leftover from this THIS floral wreath scrapbooking layout and it was sitting next to my desk. I noticed it as I was looking through my supplies and it happened to be a perfect fit for the card.  I used patterned paper scraps leftover from that same floral wreath layout to back my die cut.  I used anything green for the leaves and anything pink and yellow for the flowers.  I simply glued the patterned paper to the die cut in little pieces – one smaller piece for each leaf, for example. Then I just trimmed around the die cut.  You can kind of see it in some of the areas above.  The weird thing is you can see them in the photo but I don’t see it when I look at the card.  So strange.

One I had the die cut complete, I used glue to apply it to the card and used foam dots to make parts of it pop. Then I tucked in a flower under the die and applied a puffy sticker sentiment.

I hope these spring fling cards bring a smile to your face and you are able to get out and enjoy the flowers!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

xoxo, Heather

Creating Patterned Paper Embellishments with Patio Party

Hello Pebbles Friends! It is Leanne here today hoping to inspire you to create your own embellishments using only patterned paper. I know, I know.. Pebbles have so many gorgeous little embellishments it can sometimes be hard to narrow down your choices! But I thought I’d like to challenge myself and showcase the gorgeous patterned papers, especially those in the new Patio Party collection.

The first step towards creating your own patterned paper embellishments is colour choice. Take a lead from the photos you wish to use. Colour match as best as possible and then think about story you want to document. If you can highlight the story with colours and patterned paper embellishments, your layout will have a more polished look.

Gather your supplies:

After I have chosen the paper collection I want to use, the rest of the patterned paper placement is easy. Within Patio Party, there are a few papers with polk-a-dots or circles. As my layout documents a first time trip to the ice-skating rink for my children, these dots and cool toned colours represent snowy features. As you can imagine, living in the tropics, we don’t get to experience extremely cold temperatures! So it was a lot of fun to play with this theme in mind.

Create your own patterned paper embellishments with @PebblesInc #PatioParty

Coincidently, did you know today is also World Penguin Day? 🙂

To build up my layout base, I layered white cardstock over black to create a simple border. I then machine stitched around the outside and ran my cardstock through the typewriter.

This layout has been designed with a linear look to it. To help reinforce the clean and simple design, I managed to align all my text on the right side. However, typing the text like this was time consuming and involved a first draft on scrap paper. Next I counted the letters and spaces between the words to work backwards from.

Patterned Paper Embellishments..

In the process of creating my layout, I started looking at the border strips provided as an extra bonus on each patterned paper sheet. I trimmed these borders to size and started to layer the strips across the top third of my page.

Trimming sentiments already established on the patterned papers is definitely a great way to use patterned paper on your page. My title “Happy Day” comes from the “From Me To You” patterned paper.

Fussy cutting clusters of flowers and mounting on foam tape helps to link other elements on the page together. Trimming or fussy cutting images from patterned paper is the easiest way to create your own embellishments.

Another method is to create your own banners. This is simply put together by cutting a strip of patterned paper and adding a notch to the shorter ends. I repeated this idea with my title sentiment and added a small notch to it as well.

For a more dimensional look and to fill in the blank space on top of the navy banner, I have created a small tag and tucked it below my top photo. To achieve this, trim a strip of patterned paper to the required size and evenly cut the corners off of one end. Punch a hole in the center of that same end and add bakers twine.

Repeat the same layered pattern style of DIY paper embellishments on the lower half of your layout, to complete a cohesive look.

Raise the fussy cut flower cluster onto foam dots to match the dimension of the other clusters.

Complete your layout and additional touches such as stamping or paint splatters. Thanks for visiting the blog today. I hope you have as much fun creating your own patterned paper embellishments as I do!

Quick and Easy “May Day” Cards

Hi there, Pebbles friends!  I’m curious, do you celebrate May Day? I’ll be 100% honest and admit that, until today, I didn’t know exactly what May Day really was.  I remember celebrating in elementary school, dancing around a tall pole while weaving in and out between fellow classmates, wrapping ribbons around the pole as we went.  That’s about the extent of my May Day knowledge.  However, thanks to Google, I now know that May Day is an ancient spring festival, often celebrated on May 1st, with dancing, singing, and cake!  Well, I ask you, what’s a springtime party without flowers??? So, in honor of May Day, which is right around the corner, I bring you a set of cards, featuring colorful flowers that will make you want to dance, sing, and eat cake!! 😉

Quick and Easy Pretty Flower Cards by @WendySue with the "Patio Party" collection for @PebblesInc.

Would you like to see just how quick and easy these cards really are?  Alright!  Begin by gathering some beautiful floral-y supplies – like these from the new Patio Party collection! For each card, cut a card base from white cardstock – the front should measure 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4.” Cut one patterned paper to 5 1/4″ x 4″ and three smaller coordinating pieces for each card 2″ x 3 1/2 each.  Cut the cute banners from one of the patterned papers. Gather stickers, layered 3d stickers, ephemera pieces, twine, and enamel dots!

Quick and Easy Pretty Flower Cards by @WendySue with the "Patio Party" collection for @PebblesInc.

The first step is the easiest – simply place the largest patterned paper piece on the center of the card base. Then, easy as 1,2,3, add the three small rectangle pieces, tilting each one slightly:

Now take just a moment to tie some yellow twine around the banner piece.

Now is the time we start building the bouquet!  1. Place the ephemera bouquet on the left patterned piece. 2. Go ahead and add the banner piece to the card front. 3. Place the 3d layered flower sticker on top of the banner, over part of the twine. 4. Tuck the printed leaves under the bottom portion of the 3d flowers. 5. Add two enamel dots to the banner. and 6. Add the final enamel dot to the center of the biggest flower on the 3d piece.

Is it true?  Are we done already?  Yep, we sure are! Here’s a closer look at the completed card:

Layers and more layers with Terhi

Pebbles_Caraandme-1
Hello lovely Pebbles fans! Terhi Koskinen here with a fresh green scrapbook layout cherishing the memories of meeting long time online friend finally in real life.
Last spring I was invited to teach scrapbooking to Paris, and as my sweet friend Cara lives close to France, she took a train and traveled to meet me.Pebbles_Caraandme-2
Happy memories, as this is, needs to be scrapped with cheery colors, fun and happy elements. I chose my very favorite paper ‘Ferns’ from Patio Party collection and used my electric cutting machine to cut out lots of simple flowers and leaves. The cut files I used are free from internet, searching the word cut file via Google gives you thousands hits.
Pebbles_Caraandme-3
I started creating the layout by designing roughly were to set the photo, which title to use and how to use all the flowers. Then the idea of layered blooms came to me.
Pebbles_Caraandme-5
I took about four to six different sized flowers and glued them together adding the glue only to center of each one. Then I fold the petals a bit higher to make the layers visible. Couple of my first trials ended up to trash bin because I was too generous with the glue, but in the end I had eight big blooms to play with.
Pebbles_Caraandme-6
That’s not all for layering. I also picked up the Patio Party Ephemera pack and the Patio Party Dimensional Flower Stickers, and used them together to make a very dimensional vase, saying “Hello friend!”
Pebbles_Caraandme-8
Last but not least I wanted to raise up the embellishments with only one layer, too. I added Sticky Thumb Foam Dots under the butterfly, and also under the leaves. I’m almost addicted to have shadows and dimensional elements on my scrapbook pages!
Pebbles_Caraandme-9
Here you can see the adhering. These small dots are perfect to use, so tiny and the quality of the attachment is really good – sticky just as the name says.
Pebbles_Caraandme-11
Hope you find layering as fun as I do. Thank you so much for coming here today and have a happy weekend!
