Patriotic Layout: Land of the Free Because of the Brave

Hello everyone, Heather Leopard is here with a patriotic layout and free cutting file.  With Memorial Day coming up here in the USA, this idea can serve many purposes. Before I go any further, thanks to all who serve or have served and sacrificed for our freedom!

Land of the Free, Because of the Brave Patriotic Layout

Patriotic layout by @heatherleopard using @pebblesinc @jenhadfield #SimpleLife collection #scrapbooking #scrapbook #patriotic #peaceflag #peace

I find inspiration from so many things — television ads, magazines, art posters, quilts, etc. but the inspiration for today’s layout came directly from the photo.  My daughter’s shirt, which she wore during a Veteran’s Day celebration at her school that her grandfather (United States Navy) was invited to attend, was the muse behind the layout.

I created the peace flag design with curved text using my Silhouette software.  I like to draw everything in the software when I am working with files, so that I know it will all fit perfectly on the page.  This is the design I created, sized to include a 3″ x 4″ photo.  You can download it free HERE.

Peace flag patriotic layout tutorial

Step 1: Remove grey photo block
Step 2: Ungroup the words from the peace flag and set aside

Patriotic layout by @heatherleopard using @pebblesinc @jenhadfield #SimpleLife collection #scrapbooking #scrapbook #patriotic #peaceflag #peace
Step 3: Without moving the peace flag (it’s centered perfectly on the page), cut a template of the peace flag using 12″ x 12″ scrap paper. I’ve placed my template over text patterned paper so you can easily see, but I actually used white cardstock as my background.
Step 4: Ungroup the peace flag. Cut the blue section and red stripes out of whatever paper you choose.
Step 5: Ungroup the words and arrange them on the page to cut them from your paper of choice.

Step 6: Place your cut pieces inside the template, careful not to glue the template to the paper pieces. Remove the template. Now you have a perfectly spaced and centered peace flag for your patriotic layout.

OPTIONAL: Machine or hand stitch around the sections of the peace sign. You can see my stitching below.Patriotic layout by @heatherleopard using @pebblesinc @jenhadfield #SimpleLife collection #scrapbooking #scrapbook #patriotic #peaceflag #peace

Step 7: Add your words around the circle flag. Make sure your photo will fit before you adhere your title to the page.

Step 8: Add mist splatters around the page and embellishments according to your preference.

Add your photo and journaling. You patriotic layout is now complete! Wishing you a good Memorial Day, spent with family and friends as you honor those who have served their country.

Pinwheel Gift Boxes for Memorial Day

Hello everyone! Eva Pizarro here, bringing you a quick gift — pinwheel gift boxes — inspired by our week’s theme: Memorial Day. In Chile we don’t celebrate Memorial Day, but our flag colors are also red, white, and blue! I thought I could make some pretty party favors for our next independence day celebration.

To make the pinwheel gift boxes, I used two punch board by our friends at We R Memory Keepers: The Pinwheel Punch Board and the 1,2,3 Punch board and some red white and blue supplies by different Pebbles’ lines.

My pinwheels are 3 inch wide and doubled. Just follow the board instructions, it is very easy! The blue paper I used is from the Sunshiny Days collection, and the red one is from our last Valentine collection, My Funny Valentine.

I held my pinwheels in place using blue and red brads.

As sentiments, I used the “Thank You” stickers found in this Simple Life booklet. You get 42 stickers in this booklet and it is perfect for card making!

I created the boxes with the 1,2,3 Punch Board, using the same red and blue papers. The white paper has tiny hearts embossed and it is from our sister brand, Bazzill Paper.

I filled the boxes with chocolates and glued the pinwheels on top.

These pinwheel gift boxes are quick to make and can be used as gift for the families of those who lost their lives serving the country during this Memorial Day, or also as a 4th of July party favor.

Summer Traveler’s Notebook

Hey Pebbles friends and fans, Becki here to share with you a Summer Traveler’s Notebook that I created with the Sunshiny Days collection. I created this bright and fun Summer Traveler’s Notebook to give as a gift. This notebook makes such an easy, personal, Summer gift perfect for a friend or family member. I began by gathering a few supplies from the Sunshiny Days collection and a basic kraft covered travelers notebook. I chose some patterned paper, ephemera, stickers, and puffy stickers from the collection to craft my sunny vision of the notebook.Assembling this notebook was simple. After measuring the front of the notebook, I cut a piece of patterned paper slightly smaller and adhered the patterned paper to the kraft notebook. Next, I created a fun Summery scene on the front cover of the notebook. What says summer better than sunshine and palm trees?!Each die cut is adhered with a strong adhesive so the book can be used throughout the Summer. Some of the die cuts are adhered with dimensional adhesive to give the cover of the Summer traveler’s notebook a little bit of interest.

Wanting to add a bit more to this gift, I decorated the first page inside the notebook by adding a couple of die cuts and some washi tape. I think this is the perfect first page to a Summer traveler’s notebook. I can’t wait to give this Summer Traveler’s notebook as a gift! Can you imagine the summer adventures just waiting to be documented?!Thank you for stopping by the Pebbles blog today. I hope this will inspire you to create your own Summer Traveler’s Notebook either for yourself or for an easy gift.

How To Create Layered Cards with The Simple Life

Creating layered cards is actually quite simple, and I’m excited to share my latest layered cards creations with you!  Hi friends, it’s Wendy Sue here today and I have another fun project featuring the “Simple Life” collection by Jen Hadfield.  Layering is just a simple way to explain how to “build” a card.  Let’s take a look at my finished layered cards, then I’ll walk you through, step-by-step, each layer!  Here’s the finished product:

step-by-step instructions by @wendysuea for creating pretty layered cards with the "Simple Life" collection by @PebblesInc.

When you look at the card as a whole, it might seem like there is a lot going on…but it’s simple to achieve this look.  It’s especially easy if you choose products from one line, with all coordinating items.  Here’s what I used for these layered cards:

step-by-step instructions by @wendysuea for creating pretty layered cards with the "Simple Life" collection by @PebblesInc.

Start with a simple white cardstock card base (mine is 4 1/4″ wide by 5 1/2″ tall):

step-by-step instructions by @wendysuea for creating pretty layered cards with the "Simple Life" collection by @PebblesInc.

Cut a piece of yellow patterned paper (4″ x 5 1/4″) to cover the front, leaving a small white border around the edges:

step-by-step instructions by @wendysuea for creating pretty layered cards with the "Simple Life" collection by @PebblesInc.

I used a metal die to cut two pieces from white patterned papers.  The die cuts them about 3″ x 4″.  I like the faux stitching lines left by the die.  You can also opt to cut the squares with any paper trimmer.

step-by-step instructions by @wendysuea for creating pretty layered cards with the "Simple Life" collection by @PebblesInc.

Add these pieces, at angles, on top of the yellow paper.

Next, I used a small printed square from the ephemera pack:

step-by-step instructions by @wendysuea for creating pretty layered cards with the "Simple Life" collection by @PebblesInc.

I placed a sticker on the top portion.  You could also use washi tape for a fun look:

Another tip I have found for adding layers is to use foam squares for some of the layers.  I used them to add this beautiful floral piece, giving the card more dimension. I tied twine around the handle portion of the print before I added it to the card:

step-by-step instructions by @wendysue for creating a pretty layered card with the "Simple Life" collection by @PebblesInc.

Another fun thing about layered cards is that you can use different types of elements.  I added a printed wood veneer piece and a few layered stickers in the bottom right corner:

step-by-step instructions by @wendysuea for creating pretty layered cards with the "Simple Life" collection by @PebblesInc.

These cute sticker tags are also a fun addition.

step-by-step instructions by @wendysuea for creating pretty layered cards with the "Simple Life" collection by @PebblesInc.

Since I didn’t want the sentiment on this project, I simply cut off the top portion, added a few mini staples, and tucked it underneath the square piece.

step-by-step instructions by @wendysuea for creating pretty layered cards with the "Simple Life" collection by @PebblesInc.

See how easy it was?!?  So easy that you can whip up a few layered cards (or an entire set) in just a short amount of time, especially if you choose all the products from one collection and prep before you start layering!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you’re inspired to create a card with loads of layers soon!
