Quick Gift: Gift Card Holders

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it’s time to shift gears and get ready with Christmas Prep – first up: gifts! I’ve noticed a growing trend in my family, as the kids – mine and my nieces and nephews – get older, all they want for Christmas (or birthdays, or any other gift-giving occasion) is a gift card!

So what I once believed to be an impersonal “cop-out” gift, I have grown to love and appreciate as the best gift ever – because nobody is ever disappointed with their present!  That doesn’t mean I don’t want to still put a little personal touch on a gift, so usually I’ll do that with a card or wrap.  For this year’s Christmas gift card gifts, I used the “Holly Jolly” collection to whip up a few cute little gift card holders.

These are so easy to make, but really add a special touch.  Here’s how quick and easy they are:

First, cut some of the 3×4 cards from the paper and some coordinating patterned papers to 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″

Use a circle punch to create a little “tab” – either at the side or the top – whichever lends itself best to the design on the card

Now, using a sewing machine, stitch the 3×4 card onto the background

Wrap with ribbon or twine

Add additional embellishments (stickers, die-cuts, etc.) if desired

And that’s it!

Really, you could whip up a dozen of these babies in less than an hour once you get your supplies out and get all set up – less time than it will take you to drive to the store and purchase the gift cards to slip inside (which is something I still need to do)!

Hi, Renee here to share a Blessed Beyond Measure double-page layout using the Jen Hadfield Warm & Cozy collection.  I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your family and friends.  This is the time of year where I am reminded of how blessed I am to have my family.  I created this double-page layout using lots of family photos taken years ago in a studio.  This collection went so well with these photos.

I started this double-page layout using the Green Plaid pattern papers for the background.  I trimmed the Fall Bouquet pattern papers to 11″ x 11″ and adhered them to my background papers.  I trimmed the Antlers pattern papers to 10 ½” x 10 ½” and adhered them to my layers.  I added machine stitching around my pattern paper layers.

I adhered my photos across the Antlers pattern papers.

I added a variety of pattern papers along with a 3″ x 4″ card from the Warm Quotes pattern paper before I added embellishments.

Here’s a quick sketch of my Blessed Beyond Measure double-page layout so you can see the measurements I used for my photos and embellishment spots.  I added 11 photos to this double-page layout.  You can add more or less depending on the style of your photos and place them anywhere you want to.

I loved mixing the Cozy Thickers with a Word Sticker to create my title.

I added lots of cute embellishments from the Accent Stickers and Ephemera Die-Cut packs around my Blessed Beyond Measure double-page layout.  I also included a close-up photo of my title so you can see the dimension I added to the “blessed” Word Sticker with just a few pop dots.

Woodland Forest Shaker Gift Cards

Hi everyone, it’s Monique here today sharing a set of Woodland Forest shaker gift cards with you. I’m a huge fan of re-using materials that would normally end up in the trash bin and so for today I decided to share this fun idea to re-use the plastic packages of the Pebbles Woodland Forest ephemera die-cuts. Did you ever think these plastic packages would make for awesome shaker cards? Well, they do! Look what I created using them:

Fun Shaker Gift Cards made by @MoniqueLiedtke using the #WoodlandForest collection from @PebblesInc.

Fun right? And so easy to make! Here’s what I did: I got everything together what I needed: a Homemade kraft bag, a package with ephemera die-cuts, a few pieces of patterned paper, some sequins from my stash and some double sided adhesive tape.

Fun Shaker Gift Cards made by @MoniqueLiedtke using the #WoodlandForest collection from @PebblesInc.

I decided to create two cards so needed two of everything. For the background I cut a square of patterned paper (4.5″ x 4.5″), rounded the corners and adhered a few die-cuts. From the plastic package I removed every residue piece of paper and filled it with a couple of sequins and glued the patterned paper on top. Next I cut a frame to glue over the plastic cup so you wouldn’t see the sides. Last but not least came the die-cut with the sentiment which I glued on top of the plastic.

When this was done I adhered everything on top of the kraft bag and I was done!

I’m really liking the result. The Garden Centre gift card I bought for my friend goes inside the kraft bag.

Hello friends, Leanne here! November is a beautiful time for counting the blessings we have and appreciating the people around us. Today I want to share a set of three cards, expressing my thanks to those whom I love and adore! These trio of cards will no doubt bring a smile to the recipients face and they are all very simple to recreate!

Recreate this set of three #thanksgivingcards from the new @PebblesInc #warmandcozycollection by @leanne_allinson.

To start, gather your supplies. I have delved into the new Warm & Cozy collection. You will need white cardstock, up to five choices of patterned paper (including cozy sentiments and the rose gold foil patterned paper) , ephemera die cuts, stickers and printed chipboard. Each card is sized at 4″x6″.

Card 1 | Thank You

Step 1. This first card is quite clean and simple. Trim your cardstock base to 8″x6 and fold in half at the 4″ mark. Trim a second piece of white cardstock to 3.75″x5.75″ creating a separate piece slightly smaller than the folded card.

Step 2. Trim the Warm & Cozy Rose Gold foil patterned paper to the same size as the 3.75″x5.75″ cardstock.

Step 3. Trim a square from each of the 3.75″x5.73″ pieces to create a window. To layer effectively, ensure the square removed from the patterned paper is slightly smaller than the one removed from the cardstock. Add each layer evenly to the base card.

Step 4. Trim a sentiment from the Warm & Cozy Cozy Sentiments patterned paper and align in the middle of the newly create window.

Step 5. Overlap a printed cardstock leaf with a gold foil ephemera leaf to add as an embellishment to your card. As an optional extra, include a piece of gold thread around the stem of the printed cardstock leaf before adding it to the card.

Card 2 | Thankful

Step 1. Trim your cardstock to create your card base – 8″x6″. Fold and score in half at the 4″ mark. Trim  two pieces of patterned paper to size, one slightly larger than the other – 3.75″x5.75″ and 3.5″x5.5″.

Step 2. Layer and machine stitch the two pieces of patterned paper together before adhering to the base.

Step 3. Trim the Thankful sentiment from the Warm & Cozy ephemera pack and add foam tape to the reverse side. Also add foam tape to the smaller of the floral die cuts. Adhere to the card, leaving the larger floral die cut without foam tape.

Step 4.  Complete the card as shown in the photo below.

This “Thankful” card with the woodgrain patterned paper pops with its darker colours against the stark contrast of the white cardstock base!

Card 3 | Thanks

Step 1. This little card is a bit more fun loving! quick tip: You will need to create a tartan bow from the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board. Trim card base to the same size as the previous two cards. Include a 3.5″x5.5″ white cardstock layer and a 3.75″x5.75″ piece of patterned paper.

Step 2. Trim the fox image away from the Warm & Cozy sticker sheet and a “Thanks” sentiment from the Cozy Sentiments paper. Working with the fox, use a sharp blade to carefully trim around the nose. By cutting a slit into the sticker, we can add the sentiment as though the fox is peeking over it! Slip the sentiment under the nose and adhere to the front of the fox. Remove the back of the sticker and add foam tape. Add the fox to the white cardstock.

Grateful Heart Thanksgiving Layout Tutorial + Free Cut File

Hello everyone.  Heather Leopard is here today celebrating Thanksgiving a few days early with this fun scrapbooking layout, “Grateful Heart”. As an added bonus, I’m sharing the Grateful Heart cut file I designed to create this layout.

Grateful heart layout with free cut file made by @heatherleopard using the #WoodlandForest collection from @PebblesInc.
This is a relatively quick layout to create and you only need a few supplies.  I used the Woodland Forest collection to create this layout.
Grateful heart layout with free cut file made by @heatherleopard using the #WoodlandForest collection from @PebblesInc.
Supplies:

  • 12″x12″ white cardstock
  • 12″x12″ pattern paper
  • 6″x6″ paper pad
  • die cut and wood veneer embellishments
  • Gesso
  • Download the Grateful Heart cut file HERE (Silhouette only)
  • Electronic Die Cut machine

I’ll walk you through how this project came together with a step x step tutorial…

Grateful heart layout with free cut file made by @heatherleopard using the #WoodlandForest collection from @PebblesInc.
First, download the cut file and cut it out of the white cardstock.  Select a pattern paper for the background.

Grateful heart layout with free cut file made by @heatherleopard using the #WoodlandForest collection from @PebblesInc.
This step is optional but I chose to apply a liberal amount of gesso to the background to give character to the page. Just dab it on a spread it around with whatever you have on hand. I used an old hotel room card and a straw of all things. Set it aside to dry. I also added color using my mists. I used two different techniques – misting / splattering as well as painting some of it on. It may look a bit messy right now but the majority of it is covered up.

Grateful heart layout with free cut file made by @heatherleopard using the #WoodlandForest collection from @PebblesInc.
Choose different pattern papers for each letter.  TIP: try to alternate busy patterns and more solid-like patterns to help balance it out.

Grateful heart layout with free cut file made by @heatherleopard using the #WoodlandForest collection from @PebblesInc.
Cut the individual letters out of Part 2 of the cut file, using various pattern papers.  Adhere them to the back of the “GRATEFUL” word.  Note that some letters will overlap each other.Grateful heart layout with free cut file made by @heatherleopard using the #WoodlandForest collection from @PebblesInc.
I’d like to share a neat trick for cutting your photo into a heart.

  1. Keep the heart that you cut out for this cut file. Set it aside.
  2. Place your photo under the cut file where the heart is.
  3. Move it around until you have it placed exactly where you want it.
  4. Once you like the placement, add the scrap heart over it inside the cut file.
  5. Carefully remove the overlay and cut your photo using the heart as the template. Make sure to leave a small border around the edge so you can adhere it to the back of the heart.
  6. You could also skip all of that and just add your photo and allow the heart to act as a frame around the key part of the photo.

Add embellishments and journaling to your page and you are done!
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and even if you do not celebrate this holiday, this design can be used for so many other things you may be grateful for.  If you do create anything, please post it to the comments below or tag me on Instagram (@heatherleopard) so I can ooh and ahh over it.
