Grab A Coffee with Warm & Cozy

Hello everyone! It’s Monique on the blog today sharing my latest project with the Warm & Cozy collection. I adore this Fall collection and just can’t get enough of it! Fall is actually my favorite season of the year. When I think of Fall I think not only of “warm” and “cozy” but also of coffee! Lots of coffee! The corner in my kitchen where you can find my coffee machine, is one of the places where you’ll find me most! So, when I saw that “journaling” was going to be the main feature this week, I knew straight away what I was going to create: framed (wall) art for my coffee corner with lots of “text” in it! So here’s what I did:

And because maybe your kitchen could use some coffee home decor as well, I’ll quickly explain what I did. I got an inexpensive photo frame from a local store and chose five sheets of patterned paper, two of which held “text” (I just love papers with text!). I cut the papers in the right size so they would fit in the photo frame and layered them on top of each other. The last sheet I wanted in a different shape than the others and hand cut it in the shape of a heart:

I added a bit of machine stitching. Not too much, along the outer edges of two of the papers and the heart is enough:

Next I added some embellishments at the top of my project and in the bottom left corner. Isn’t that red coffee mug awesome?! Before I added the text I first adhered a vellum heart on top of the other heart to make it “pop” a bit more.

For the text I used a mix of letter stickers, letters cut with the Silhouette and letters punched with my (old fashioned) QuicKutz Squeeze. I’m glad I kept the Squeeze even though I’ve got several more modern die-cutting machines by now! The QuicKutz alphabet I used is called “Stiletto”, the ampersand and the word “coffee” were cut with the Silhouette and the “A” is from the Warm & Cozy Rose Gold Foil Alpha Stickers set.

And here’s how my project looks in my coffee corner. My hubby promised he would hang it up on the wall, but for now it looks great here as well I think.

Adding Journaling spots to Cards

Get ready to make easy journaling spots to include and display on your next set of cards created by @leanne_allinson for @PebblesInc. #warmandcozy #woodlandforest

Hello Friends! It’s Leanne here today and I’m sharing a fun idea to help you get more out of a simple greeting card. This week on the blog we have been sharing journaling ideas with all of our projects and I thought, where else should you spend a little extra time composing a special message, if not on inside of a handmade card!

These cute cards can stand supporting themselves, and display your message, all in one. The base cardstock is where the magic begins! One piece of 12”x12” cardstock will create two card bases. Start by trimming the cardstock into three 4”x12” strips. Cut the third cardstock strip in half at the 4”x6” mark.

To create one card base, fold the 4”x12” cardstock strip at 3” and again at 6”. Use the 4”x6” trimmed cardstock piece as the front of your card.

When creating these cards, I wanted to emphasise the journaling aspect and so I chose patterned papers with words or newsprint to create the backdrop on the card base. The paper was trimmed to 3.75”x5.75”. I added ink to the edges and machine stitched a border directly to the paper before adhering it to the cardstock.

The same principle was applied to the folded cardstock base.

On this first card, I’ve created my own journaling spot with extra cardstock and a few layers of patterned paper. Fussy cut leaves and flowers were added to the lower edge of the journaling spot, to help draw attention to your message.

To assemble the card, add adhesive to the reverse side of the top fold only.

Align the bottom of the 4”x6” card front to the bottom edge of the reverse side of folded card base. By adding adhesive to this section only, it allows the card to stand and display your message.

My second card has been created in a similar fashion.

The twist with this one however, is with the pocket insert found on the inside.

The pocket is created by trimming the newsprint patterned paper to 3.5”x4.75” and punching a circle notch at the top edge. This piece of paper is then sewn directly to the 3.75”x5.75” layer below it, before both pieces of paper are then adhered to the cardstock base.

13 Things I Love About You Birthday Mini Album

Hi everyone.  Heather Leopard is here today talking about quick journaling gifts.  My daughter’s birthday is in 3 weeks and it’s a BIG milestone birthday.  She’ll officially be a teenager! Since this is such a momentous occasion, I thought it would be nice make her a birthday mini album and write 1 note to her for every year with the plan for her to read one every day leading up to her big day.

13 Mini Album by Heather Leopard_31000

I wanted this to be something that can be made relatively quickly and can be scaled up or down depending on the number of years the birthday recipient is turning.  Afterall, if you choose to make something similar for a 30th birthday, you don’t want it to take too 30 years.  Since I wanted it to be quick and easy, I chose to keep the embellishments and details to a minimum, plus I wanted this birthday mini album to have plenty of space for a favorite photo and journaling highlights from each year.

13 Mini Album by Heather Leopard_41000

How to:

  • This birthday mini album will have a finished size of 4×6″ so your first step will be to trim your cardstock to 4×6″. Be sure to cut a cover and enough pages for all the years you are celebrating.
  • Choose your favorite photos from each year and print them no larger than 2.5×2.5″.  Add them to your pages if you are handwriting your journaling. If you are typing or using your CAMEO sketch pens, you’ll want to do the journaling before you add the photos.
  • Next, add your journaling to the pages. You can choose to keep everything consistent from page to page or mix it and journal in different spots.  Make sure to leave enough space for your photos if you are adding the photos after your journaling.
  • Lastly, add embellishments.  I chose to keep it simple by adding a few strips of paper, punched circle and the year. I stitched these elements to each page to make sure they were nice and secure.

You may choose to wrap each day’s page separately so that she opens a new one each day. Make sure to include a book ring so the birthday girl or boy can piece them together each day to build their birthday mini album.

DIY Notebooks

Hello Pebbles’ fans! Eva Pizarro there today sharing this tutorial for a quick Back To School project.

When I saw the lovely Woodland Forest collection I fell in love with the cute animals and knew I wanted to do a project that I could enjoy all the time. I haven’t yet jumped into the Planner wagon so this little notebooks are going to be perfect to take notes and make daily To DO lists.

To create the notebooks cut a piece of patterned paper the same dimensions as your printer paper and another paper with the same width but 6 in tall. Gather 10 plain white papers and stack them together.

Bend your two pieces of paper in half and cut a triangle from the smaller patterned paper.

Use some double sided adhesive and attach the paper to the back of your cover. This way you create a pocket on the inside of your notebook!

Put the cover on top of the sheets of paper and use some clips to hold everything in place.

To bind your book use a stapler or a sewing machine. I am using the Staple Board from our friends at We R Memory Keepers, it is very easy to use and you can staple anywhere you want!

Close your notebook and very carefully use a ruler and an exacto knife to create an even edge.

Use some die cuts or other embellishments to decorate. I chose not to decorate too much my notepads just in case I want to put them in my bag.

On one of the notebooks I added some alphas from the Warm & Cozy collection, you could even put a name on it and  create a personalized gift!

Another idea is to use the 3×4 cards from this paper and use them as a message for your cover.

This is the inside of my notebook, with 2 little pockets to hold the papers I need and not loose anything! If you want you can even add more patterned paper pages and add more pockets to your notebooks.

I hope you liked this quick DIY and that you can make them for you of also as gift for a sweet friend!

Back to School Scrapbooking

Hey Pebbles friends, Becki here. I’m excited to share with you a back to school scrapbooking layout I created using the new Warm and Cozy collection. I love back to school photos. My kids will tell you that every year we take photos not only on the first day of school but we also do a back to school photo shoot a few days before school starts. As much as I love Summer I love the routine and the fresh start that a new school year brings.

I started by gathering some supplies from the Warm and Cozy collection. I LOVE all the gorgeous plaids in this collection. I chose this great red, black, and yellow plaid paper to create an huge apple.

Back to School scrapbooking by @jbckadams for @pebblesinc #backtoschool #scrapbooking #pebblesinc #madewithpebbles

I sketched a giant apple on a piece of white cardstock. (My kids think it looks like a pumpkin, they’re wrong. It’s totally an apple.) You could also use a die cut machine to cut the apple out of white cardstock. I backed the apple cut out with the red patterned paper. I really wanted the apple to be  the focus of the layout. I chose one photo for the layout. I wanted the journaling to be tucked away behind the photo on this project so I used a kraft treat bag.

Back to School scrapbooking by @jbckadams for @pebblesinc #backtoschool #scrapbooking #pebblesinc #madewithpebbles

The bag was a little too large for the journaling cards I chose so I folded it in half and stapled it.

You could also cut the bottom of the bag and stitch it closed with a sewing machine. The journaling cards fit perfectly into the folded/stapled treat bags.

The title is created with the beautiful copper foam Thickers that come with the Warm and Cozy collection. I created the title along the curve of the apple.

The leaves from the sticker sheet and die cut pack made the perfect addition to the layout with a pop of green, copper, and brown.

How do you document your back to school memories? Make sure to grab the Warm & Cozy collection to document all your Fall memories.
