I don’t live near an ocean, but I am lucky enough to live within 10 minutes of two reservoirs where we love to ski and fish and boat and swim! Unfortunately, these reservoirs don’t have dreamy beaches filled with white sand – they are mostly rocks and gravel and mud – but they are definitely lots of fun and I’m grateful for the cold water we can find there in the heat of the summer! Speaking of summer and beaches, I wanted to put together some quick little gifts for some friends – and this is where I landed: cute pail and shovel gift boxes!
Would you like to make one (or several) too? They are so easy – here’s how!
First, using a digital cut file, cut a pail from some summery, happy paper:
Assemble the box.
Cut a coordinating handle.
Add it to the paper pail with coordinating brads.
Now cut a shovel from paper and embellish the shovel with a nice phrase (cut from one of the 2×2 “happy thoughts” squares), and add an anchor from the die-cut ephemera pack with colored jute:
For the finishing touch, add some fringe tape to the inside of the top of the paper pail:
That’s it! Now the paper pail is ready to be filled. Add some sunscreen, sunglasses, goggles, OR some delicious treats – salt water taffy seems appropriate!
These little pails are quick and easy to whip up – so if you’re making one, you might as well make a bunch!
Happy Summer!
