Hi friends! It’s Wendy Sue here with you today, sharing a project I recently created with the brand new “America the Beautiful” collection. Memorial Day is a federal holiday, set apart for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces. Usually, we visit and decorate graves of those brave men and women who died…but I also like to create a little decoration to display inside to commemorate the holiday as well. I started brainstorming this year’s decoration, which would also work perfectly for a quick little gift, and this is what I came up with:
You’ll never believe how quick and easy it was to make! Here’s how:
First, die-cut the 3-d jar with a digital die cut machine (be sure to cut the jar “lid” too):
Next, attach several of the printed die-cuts to wooden skewers – in keeping with the “quick” theme, use tape to attach the pieces:
If you want to add additional stickers or embellishments on some of the images, do that now. I like to use foam adhesive for this part.
Open up the paper jar and arrange the pieces however you’d like them. If they are sticking out below the bottom, just snap the stick! Use tape to attach the skewers:
When the paper jar is folded over, it will look like this:
Now it’s time to embellish the front. Trim a 3×4 card from the paper, add washi tape to the top of the card, and a sticker to the corner. And place the card on the front of the jar with foam dots:
Add the fireworks sticker to the top of the jar front, then place the paper lid over the top:
Add additional stickers here and there – use foam dots for dimension!
Now tie a piece of jute around the lid:
Stuff the middle with basket filler:
And that’s it! Now you can gift this sweet little decoration, or display it in your home with pride!
