Hi Pebbles fans! Amanda here today. Spring has sprung in my neck of the woods and I couldn’t be happier! I am just giddy every time I see a new bunch of flowers blooming along the side of the road and I love nothing more than fresh cut flowers in the house. Second only to fresh flowers, I also love crafting bouquets of paper flowers that withstand the test of time (and kids). These pinwheel flowers are easy to make and will make your house extra cheery.
Pinwheel flowers make a fun, no-fuss centerpiece or piece of home decor. If used as a party centerpiece, you could even give away the pinwheels as favors at the end of the party. The Pinwheel Punch Board takes all of the hassle out of making pinwheels, too. Simply follow the guide, and voila! Pinwheels!
These pinwheels are secured with a coordinating brad, you could easily make them functioning pinwheels as well.
Filling containers with rice is my favorite way to hold paper flowers in place. It makes it super easy to rearrange the flowers until your bouquet just right. And I didn’t even adhere the leaves to the stems. I simply freehand cut some leaves and stuck them right in the rice. Create a cute (and inexpensive) container by wrapping an empty jar or can with a piece of patterned paper.
The yellow fringe tape around the center of the flower adds a realistic touch and helps create cohesiveness in a mixed color bouquet.
After some experimenting, I found it was easier to adhere the fringe tape to the flower centers before I assembled the pinwheels. Adhere a short strip of adhesive yellow fringe around one of the holes in pinwheel Part B. This will be the last pinwheel that you fold over when making your pinwheel.
Wrap a couple of layers of fringe (or more) around the circle. Stack pinwheel Part B on top of pinwheel Part A.
Start folding your pinwheel by folding in the wing closest to the yellow fringe. Continue folding in the wings until you get to the last one with the fringe.
Hold everything together with your fingers and secure with a coordinating brad.
Happy Spring!
Amanda

I’m so in love with this idea!!! I’m already a fan of making paper pinwheels for my children…and I have this stash of pretty paper straws I didn’t know what to do with. (PS a blog post about ways to use paper straws would be so helpful!) I’m going to be making several of these beautiful, colorful flowers today to put in my daughters room, my bedroom, and my art room. Can’t wait to get started!! I’m always excited for ways to use my 12×12″ pattern paper since I’m not much of a scrapbooker anymore. Think I’ll have to go buy some rice though. 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing this inspiration, especially the fringe idea, love that!!
