Hi Pebbles friends! It’s Wendy Sue here with you today, sharing a project for this week’s “hearts” theme. I love giving cards to friends and family members all through the year, but it seems like there’s something extra special about Valentine’s Day cards. I think this is the one holiday that people, even people who aren’t as crazy about paper crafting as I am, will sit down and create a handmade card. It’s appropriate that the holiday centered around LOVE also encourages people to make their own cards, with their own two hands, to share their feelings of love and friendship! This is the first card I created for Valentine’s Day this year:
Would you like to know how I was inspired to create it? Well, let me share! I was shopping with my daughter last weekend. We walked into Pier 1 Imports, just to look around. That’s when I saw this sweet pillow:
Isn’t it darling?!? I didn’t buy it…but I did snap a quick photo or two to use as inspiration for a project!
When I got back home, I pulled out my heart confetti – almost identical colors to the knots in the pillow! And so I began:
I opted to use a pre-made kraft card from American Crafts for the base of my project:
I dumped out the heart confetti and used the packaging as a template. I traced around the heart shape, very lightly, with a pencil.
Then I just added adhesive and started placing confetti hearts within the shape.
I added some machine stitching around the shape, just to help define the heart shape, and add a touch of hand-made whimsy.
Finally, I added one of the “You & Me” stickers to the corner of the card. Of course, I couldn’t just place the sticker onto the card – I used foam dots to add some dimension!
And since I had a whole package of blank cards, and a slew of confetti hearts in front of me, I decided to create a few more cards while I was at it! Here are a few additional ideas for adding heart confetti to a card:
Stitch on a heart garland!
Make a letter – x’s and o’s are perfect for Valentine’s Day!
Or simply stitch on a few hearts to add a little bit of color and fun!
I hope you feel inspired to create some handmade cards for someone you love!
