Journal Inside a Shape

Hi everyone! I’m Eva Pizarro and today I wanted to show you how to incorporate journaling into your layouts as part of your design page. I love to journal! Scrapbooking is very therapeutic for me, and  I like to incorporate stories and sentiments in my pages for my future generations.

For this page I decided I wanted to write my words inside text – in this case “2014”.

Begin by opening an editing program (I used Adobe Photoshop, but you can use whatever you prefer). Next, open up a new document and type your text. Choose a thick font like Arial Black.

Right click on your text layer and choose the option “Convert to Shape”. This will allow you to write inside the letter.

The next step is needed only for letters or numbers that have a shape inside, for example my zero and my four. If you don’t do this step, your text is not going to wrap around your small shapes.

Select the line tool from the toolbar, and in the top bar choose the option “Subtract from Shape”. This button is right next to your line width and height option.

While holding your shift key, draw a small and narrow line  that connects the inside and the outside of your zero.

Now you can start writing on your numbers. To do this, simply select your text tool and click inside the shape you want. Choose a small font and begin typing.

Once you are done, play with spaces and the paragraph tools to make sure most of your shape is filled.

Right click your shape layer and choose “Blending Options”. Select “stroke” to add a little depth to your numbers.

Print and cut them following that line.

For my background, I cut 1 1/2 inch strips of paper, cut them in diagonals and then glued them to my page.

Then I bent the edges a little with my fingers to give more dimension and to embellish the page.

I also included a small photo inside the “O”.

Time Double-Page Layout

Happy New Year, Everyone!

It’s Renee. Well, another year went by incredibly fast.  Looking back on the year 2014, overall I feel happy.  Lots happened last year.  I wanted to create a layout with the highlights from each month.  There was no way I could fit 16 photos onto just one page.  So, I used the Happy Day collection for a double-page layout!  I also used one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite movies!

Inspired by this quote from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
(image found on Pinterest)

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />
- Gandalf, The Fellowship of the Ring, by J.R.R. Tolkien

Here’s what I created…

Looking back on the 2014 year with this Time double-page layout by @Renee Zwirek using the #HappyDay collection by @PebblesInc.

Here’s the left side page of the double-page layout.  All the photos were printed as 2.5″ x 2.5″ squares and arranged from January to December, top to bottom.  I love the combination of the Woodland and Blooms thickers for my quote title.

Here’s the right side page of the double-page layout.

Now for some close-up photos.  Here, I trimmed a Tag Frame, added a Phrase Sticker, and a Metal Clip.

Again, I trimmed a Tag Frame, added a Phrase Sticker, a clock Icon Sticker, and fussy cut flowers sprinkled all around the page.  I love the Garden Walk paper…flowers are my favorite! I also stamped the year at the bottom corner of the Tag Frame.

Yes, there are 4 hidden photos on this double-page layout.  There were a few months that had more highlights.

More Icons and Phrases & Labels Stickers added along with fussy cut flowers and Enamel Dots sprinkled around the double-page layout.

I love the colors of the Enamel Dots! A few were hidden with these photos. The months of July and August had another highlight that I wanted to add to the double-page layout. The flip-up squares measure 3″ x 6″ and have tiny Velcro squares to hold them down (easy to open up).

The months of June and December also had another highlight that I wanted to add to the double-page layout.  Fun, interactive, and great memories to look back on and smile!

Looking Back on 2014 Mini Album

Hello, Becki here to share with you a mini album I created  while reflecting on 2014. I love New Years, not because I love setting New Years Resolutions but because I love looking back on the year an remembering all the great things about the previous year. As a scrapbooker this usually involves looking through the hundreds of photos I’ve taken throughout the year. I always end up printing a ton of photos that I haven’t had a chance to scrapbook…yet.  This year I decided to create a mini album highlighting some of the great times our family had in 2014. I used the We R Memory Keepers Instagram album and the Happy Day collection. The sheet of 2×2 cut apart squares was my best friend. These squares fit perfectly into the 2×2 sheet protectors.

Looking back on 2014 Mini Albumcreated for @Pebblesinc by @jbckadams

I embellished these little squares with enamel dots and stickers from the Happy Day collection.
Here’s the cover page of my mini album:

Looking Back on 2014 Mini Album created by @jbckadams by @PebblesincI wanted the “2014” to be very bright and eye catching, the gold letter stickers from the Home+Made collection are perfect!

One thing I learned about journaling for an album like this is that you’ll want to print your journaling. Even though I’m a huge proponent of handwritten journaling I had a really hard time fitting all my journaling onto the 2×2 squares when I was writing my journaling printing it was much easier and it fit so much better.

Looking Back on 2014 Mini Album created by @jbckadams by @PebblesincI printed photos that I wanted to be a focal point at 4×4.

Looking Back on 2014 Mini Album created by @jbckadams by @PebblesincI kept the embellishments to a minimum so they would fit into the tiny pockets. Enamel dots and stickers are the perfect embellishments for this album.

Looking Back on 2014 Mini Album created by @jbckadams by @PebblesincI couldn’t document 2014 without mentioning our family vacation.

Looking Back on 2014 Mini Album created by @jbckadams by @PebblesincThose gold stickers were to perfect for this album, I had to use them again. This year really was all about FAMILY!

Looking Back on 2014 Mini Album created by @jbckadams by @PebblesincMy hubby and I celebrated our 14th anniversary this year and I actually remembered to take a selfie of us.

Looking Back on 2014 Mini Album created by @jbckadams by @PebblesincI added just a few holiday photos, these will be in other albums as well so I didn’t add too many of them.

Looking Back on 2014 Mini Album created by @jbckadams by @PebblesincFor the last page of the album I added the sentiment “Relax at Home with Your Family” because that’s really what we focused on this year was just spending time as a family.
I LOVE how this mini turned out and I think I’ll make one of these for years to come it’s a great way to reflect on the previous year and document the memories that may have been forgotten.

Coffee Cup Gift Wrap

Baby, it’s cold outside! Amanda here today with a cute and easy gift packaging idea that will warm the hearts and hands of your friends and loved ones. Nothing works better at warming me up in the wintertime than a cup of tea or hot chocolate. No longer afraid of looking like a dork in winter, I am also a fan of wearing knit headbands, hats and gloves (sometimes all at the same time) to keep warm. But making and giving handmade items is just as fun. Embellished paper coffee cups are perfect for packaging up cozy, handmade gifts.

Coffee Cup Gift Wrap by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Happy Day collectionInspired by the Pick-Me-Up paper from Pebbles’ Happy Day collection, I created coffee cup gift containers that can be used for giving small gifts and treats of all kinds.  Heck, they’re even good for holding a warm drink.

Coffee Cup Gift Wrap by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Happy Day collectionPaper coffee cups can be filled with all sorts of goodies. Fill the cup with treats, baked goods, or packets of hot chocolate.

Coffee Cup Gift Wrap by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Happy Day collectionThese embellished coffee cups are also fun for giving non-food gifts. Send warm fuzzies by packaging a knitted headband or a pair of warm gloves inside of the coffee cup.

Coffee Cup Gift Wrap by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Happy Day collectionMaking the coffee wraps is easy as pie. Die cut the wraps and letters using your favorite electronic die cutter. Be sure to use your favorite, whimsical fonts. To make the labels even easier, die cut the letters from sticker paper.

Coffee Cup Gift Wrap by @popperandmimi using @pebblesinc Happy Day collectionFollow the curve of the die cut wrap as you apply your letters. Start by applying the middle letter near the middle of your wrap first. This will center the sentiment and make it appear straight when wrapped around the cup.
