Hello Pebbles friends! It’s Wendy Sue here today, sharing a layout featuring photos of my kiddos out in the snow! Is it snowy in your neck of the woods? It has been such a mild winter so far here this year, we have only received two big storms this season – one on Christmas day and another just last week. Right now it’s looking like a winter wonderland outside, but it took a lot longer than it usually does. In fact, we’ve been so “snowless” that I haven’t even taken any snow pictures of my kids this year – these are from last year…but I’m glad I waited to scrap them because I am loving the woodgrain paper and letters from the “Happy Day” collection with these photos!
Here are a few fun & easy little designer tips I used on this layout:
1. I used a steel snowflake die to cut several snowflakes from the “Sunday Paper” text patterned paper. Don’t be afraid to use subtle patterned papers for accents that are traditionally solid colors – it adds a touch of fun and whimsy! Also, I added some (not all) of them with pop dots for a bit of added dimension.
2. I bet you noticed the epoxy dots I scattered among the snowflakes…but did you notice that I added some dots from the woodgrain letter sticker pages too? Most letter stickers, especially Thickers, are great for creating “faux” epoxy dots – there are always dots for the i’s and j’s, plus periods and exclamation points too.
I used some of the little asterisks, or stars, from the letter sticker sheets as well – can you spot the visual triangle I created with them?
3. And one final tip for frugal paper crafters. At the bottom of each 12×12 page, you’ll find a tear strip (pictured below). We cut them off when we’re ready to create something with our beautiful papers.
BUT did you know that the backside of each tear strip is printed with a coordinating, and really fun, color, pattern, and/or design?
I used two of them for the border on the left side of the photos of my layout. There are so many fun ways you could use these strips – so be sure to hang on to them for another project!
