Good morning, Pebbles friends! It’s Wendy Sue here with you today, sharing a simple “thankful” sign perfect for a last-minute addition to your Thanksgiving decor!
I’ve noticed the trend of unfinished wood items lately – and I love the look. Unfortunately, I lack the skills and tools to cut items from wood. But that’s not stopping me from jumping on the bandwagon! Instead of wood, I’m choosing to use paper to create faux-wood!! Here’s how I used my Silhouette to create these faux wood letters for my sign:
1. Choose a font (or a pre-made die-cut word like this one). Use a kraft (or other “woodish” color) cardstock and cut out multiples of each letter – I cut 8.
You’ll also need to cut one of each letter out of colored/patterned paper. I chose various papers (listed below) from the Jen Hadfield Home+Made Collection.
Now, you need to stack up the letters and glue them together.
This mimics the look of pressed wood:
Now add the colored piece to the top:
Use the burlap paper to cover the backing of the frame and attach the completed letters:
I wanted to dress up the frame just a little bit, while keeping the design clean and simple. I chose to add some of the glitter tape around the inside edges of the opening:
Now just pop the burlap piece into the frame and it’s all done!
Hang it on your wall and enjoy it for the season!
