Father’s Day is right around the corner…Looking for one last gift idea? Be sure to check out Juliana Michaels‘ fun Father’s Day mini album.
My Dad has always loved it when I make him a card or gift and until recently, I had no idea how much he loved it. Over the years, he has kept every single card I have ever given or made him. Of course, since I started paper crafting and scrapbooking they have all been hand made. During my last visit to see him, he showed all of them to me. It was so sweet to see how much he had treasured them!
As he was showing me all the cards and things he had saved, he pulled out a mini album that I had made him years ago. It made me realize that he is long over due for a new one and I knew exactly what I wanted to make him for Father’s Day this year. To create the mini album, I started with a chipboard base and covered the front and back cover with burlap. I recommend cutting a piece slightly larger than the area you want to cover, adhering it with liquid glue or a hot glue gun and then trimming the excess. Once it is glued in place and trimmed to size, add a little more liquid glue to the edges to keep it from fraying.
Next, I selected a variety of patterned papers from the Americana collection to cover the inside pages. To help make things coordinate, I covered facing pages with the same paper. After selecting my photos, I matted all of them on white cardstock and began decorating the pages with pieces of patterned paper, die cuts and other flat embellishments.
For some of the embellishments, I fussy cut flowers from the Americana Liberty paper. I also used the quotes printed on the From Me to You Notes paper to embellish the front cover and to fill the die cut frames.
On the last page, I added a library pocket and card, which I will use to write a little note to my Dad and tell him just how much I love him!
I hope you are inspired to create something hand made and special for your Dad this Father’s Day! You never know how much they will treasure something that you made just for them!
