Halloween Party Treat Jars

We’re having such a fun Halloween party on the blog this week. We’ve showcased everything from classroom treats to party decor.

Today, Design Team Member Kim Kesti, is sharing her take on the perfect Halloween treat container.

No Halloween party is complete without plenty of treats, right? I rescued this good-sized jar from the back of my pantry and decided it would be the perfect treat container.

It was really quite easy to dress it up. First, I trimmed some strips of paper and adhered them to jar.

I used the Thirty-One Phrase and Accent Stickers to “create a scene”. I adore that spooky tree, so I used that and added some playful ghosts, a few bats and lots of twinkling stars.

To trim the jar a little more, I added Glitter Foam Thickers to a  decorative tag and tied it to the jar with a satin ribbon.

Isn’t it amazing what you can do with patterned paper and stickers? Easy, simple and quite fabulous!

Flying Bat Banner {Thirty-One}

We’re thrilled to be showcasing the frightfully good work of Guest Designer Holly Humbert today.

Flying Bat Banner

I’m so excited to share my tutorial for the Pebbles blog today.

I was fortunate enough to go to the Pebbles Logo Launch party, back in July, and that’s why I first saw the Thirty-One line.

Each year, we host a Halloween cookie decorating party for my daughter and her friends, and the Thirty One line has been perfect to create some awesome decor for the occasion.

The banner only requires a few supplies:

Supplies:

    • Thirty-One 12×12 Paper Eerie (732300)
    • Thirty-One 12×12 Paper Batty (732298)
    • Thirty-One 12×12 Paper Dreadful (732297)
    • Thirty-One 12×12 Paper Witches Brew (732296)
    • Thirty-One 12×12 Paper Pumpkin Patch (732295)
    • Thirty-One 12×12 Paper Mystical (732293)

Cut out 4 bats from each patterned paper. I designed this bat shape in Illustrator and converted it to a Silhouette cut file. Available for free download here. If you don’t have a Silhouette, you can print out the bat outline here and cut them out with scissors.

Punch holes in each corner of the orange bats.

Layer one black bat on top of one orange bat. Use a sewing machine or stapler down the center to attach the bats together. Repeat.

Bend the top/black layer towards the center to give the bat depth and create the 3-D effect.

Cut 11 pieces of twine each 3 inches long. Loop the twine through the punched holes and tie together.

Hang up and enjoy!

We hope you’ll go visit Holly’s site. She’s got a few other tutorials we think you’ll enjoy…

DIY Halloween Luminaries

Do you love creating this time of year? It seems to be the time when crafty energy is sparked and the ideas just keep flowing.

We’ve had such a fun time sharing great Halloween projects with you. We’re hitting mid-week with a DIY Halloween luminary project from Designt Team Member Renee Zwirek.

DIY Halloween Luminaries

I’m super excited to share my Halloween party items with you today. I made a set of three Halloween Luminaries (Halloween Night, Witch’s Brew, and Boo Street).

This adorable set can be used as centerpieces for your party table, or you can use them to decorate any room in the house. They also look great in your front room window.

If it’s not raining, then you can add some sand/rocks inside them to weigh them down, add a votive candle inside, and place them outside next to your jack-o-lantern to greet party guests and trick-or-treaters.

To make these luminaries, I started by making different sized paper bags out of the pattern papers.

I cut out windows in the paper bags and added vellum.

I decorated my bags using stickers and sequins and now they are ready to shine.

I used flameless votive candles to lite up my Halloween Luminaries. Have a bright and happy Halloween!

Supplies:
Thirty-One Batty (732298)
Thirty-One Enchanted (732299)
Thirty-One Witching Hour (732301)
Thirty-One Phrase &Accent Cardstock Stickers (732304)

Halloween Cupcake Toppers {Thirty-One}

It’s a Halloween party! We loved Amanda’s project yesterday and can’t wait to share what’s coming up!

Today Design Team Member Candace Zentner is sharing the adorable Halloween cupcake toppers she made for her daughter’s class!

Halloween Cupcake Toppers

I am in charge of bringing the cupcakes to my daughter’s Kindergarten Halloween Party and I was totally inspired by the Thirty-One Cardstock Stickers to create a fun little scene and some cupcake toppers!

Here is a peek at the cupcake box without the cupcakes in it. I used an SVG from SVG Cutting Files to create the base, trees and tombstones.

The little details on the tombstones (bugs & ‘boo’) are stamps from Jaded Blossom Stamps. The rest of the details are fun chipboard stickers.

To make the cupcake toppers I just stuck the stickers onto some black cardstock, added some faux stitching around it using a white gelly roll pen and then glued a toothpick onto the back. Super simple!

I’m sure the kids will love this little display on the table in the center of all the other cupcakes.

Halloween Party Favor Bags

Halloween party season is upon us! Whether you are hosting a party of your own or will simply be a party guest, Design Team member Amanda Coleman has a fun and easy gift bag idea that is sure charm party guests.

Send your Halloween party guests home with a little gift or treat in a custom made gift bag.  Not hosting a party?  Give your hostess a spooky gift in one of these little bags.

Making a flat gift bag stand up like a lunch sack is really easy.  Here’s how I did it:

1. Start with a flat gift bag.

2. Create creases in the bag by folding in the sides and bottom of the bag about 1″.

3. Using the creases you just made, stick your hand inside the bag and fold the bag into a 3D rectangle.  Fold in the corners at the bottom and adhere with tape.

4. Stand the bag up and fill with goodies!

Top your bag with a simple banner by trimming flags from patterned paper and attaching them with miniature clothespins.

The toe tags are my favorite.  They are a little bit creepy and a lot of fun.  Simply attach toe tags to the top of your bag with a colorful clothespin.

The Thirty-One triangle banner kit is perfect for topping gift bags.  Add a cute sticker or two and your bag is ready to go!
