Back to School Layout

Not everyone celebrates “back-to-school” traditionally. Check out this fun take on the first day of school tradition from Design Team Member Emily Spahn.

My kids started “school” last week, which really means I went back to work and they went back to daycare!  They both were so excited to use their new backpacks and see their friends, as you can see by the big smiles on their faces!!

I used the bright colors of their clothing as the color inspiration for the layout. I love that I can compare papers and products from various Pebbles lines and the work perfectly together!

Handmade Back-to-School Teacher Card

We’re wrapping up with our series of fun back-to-school projects with another card for teacher today.

One of our favorite “craft” projects is to take basic papers and turn them into something great! Take the apple on this card for instance, it’s actually made with two circle punches.
Let me show you how…
For this project you will need a 2″ circle punch, a 2″ scallop circle punch and a few sheets of cardstock.
Use your circle punch to cut a circle out of the red cardstock .
Nip the top and bottom of your circle with your circle punch to create an apple shape.
Use the circle punch to take a “bite” out of your apple.
Repeat the process with a piece of white cardstock.
Instead of using the circle punch for your bite, use the scallop punch.
Use the circle punch to create a stem.
Use it again to create the leaf.

Stack all of the pieces together and you have a great apple.
Such a simple way to create a fun embellishment to use when creating school themed cards and pages.

You Are Cool {Layout}

It’s been fun talking about back-to-school, but we don’t want to forget the littles that are still at home. Today we’re showcasing a layout, made by Jaclyn Rench, features the every day antics of her “cool” son at four…

You Are Cool Layout

My youngest son has a bit of an obsession with Batman. If it were up to him, he’d never leave the house without sporting some type of super hero gear! So, as you can imagine many of the pictures I have of him at four years old, also include the bat symbol.

I knew this memory would pair perfectly with the Party with Amy Locurto Super Hero collection.

A simple grid of 2×2″ photos pairs well with pieces of the patterned paper, and allows for a wealth of photos and decoration to be included on the page, but still stay streamlined and pleasing to the eye.

Supplies:

Party with Amy Locurto Super Kid (751454)
Party with Amy Locurto Pow (751455)
Party with Amy Locurto Incredible (751456)
Party with Amy Locurto Kaboom (751457)
Basics Honeycomb Mini Dot (751377)
Basics Ash Washi Tape (747207)

Back-to-School Card for Teacher

We’ve enjoyed sharing a back-to-basics approach to papercrafting and scrapbooking using our new school-friendly mini collection.
Today, you’ve simply got to check out this super-simple card made for teacher. The bright primary colors just shout cheerful and it would be such a fun edition to any teacher gift.

Back-to-School Teacher Card

I know that most of you could make this card blindfolded, with one hand tied behind your back. Writing out the process can sometimes make projects a bit more easy to complete. So here it is…directions for making a back to school card in five simple steps!
  1. Take a piece of red cardstock cut to 4.25″ x 5.5.” Score and fold in half.
  2. Adhere a piece of white cardstock to the front of the card.
  3. Add five tags across the middle of the white cardstock base.
  4. Punch a piece of blue cardstock and adhere across the top of the flags.
  5. Add a dimensional dot to the back of the regular sticker for added texture, center and tack down.
Supplies
  • American Crafts Cardstock – Cherry
  • American Crafts Cardstock – White
  • American Crafts Cardstoc – Wave
  • American Crafts Knockout Border Punch

Will you/have you created something special for your child’s teacher? We’d love to hear all about it.

Back-to-School Page Layout

In a perfect world, we’d all be caught up on our scrapbooking rather than working months, gasp years, behind…

I don’t know about you, but rather than chalking my memory keeping delays up to procrastination, I like blame technology (thank you Instagram) and my need to make a page as good as __________ (celebrity scrapbooker).

We’re having fun playing around with the simplicity of the new Pebbles School mini collection previewed yesterday.  Instead of sharing a super-complex, time-consuming page that incorporates all of the elements we’re taking it back-to-basics with today’s layout…

Back-to-School Page Layout

This page is all about layered paper and just a few stickers used as embellishments…

The new collection is not currently available in our online shop, but it’s popping up in independent scrap shops and online stores all over the place!

How do you document your child’s first day of school? We’d love to see your images. Share a link to your Instragram or blog post featuring how you captured the first day in the comments if you’d like.
