For today’s edition of “Sketchy Thursday” we asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Becky Fleck.
“I knew immediately that I wanted to use a tag from the Seen & Noted line Journal Card booklet to act as part of my title! When I saw all the postage stamp images in the sketch, I thought it would be a great way to incorporate a lot of patterns from the Seen & Noted line – so I grabbed my 6×6 paper pad and went to work, choosing some of my favorite designs from the paper pad. Although the designs in the paper pad are smaller scaled, you really don’t notice when used in smaller doses, like with this sketch! I took the speech bubble paper from the 6×6 paper pad and used it in my typewriter to add some fun sentiments and trimmed them off and layered over the papers.” – Nicole Nowosad, Pebbles Design Team Member
“I adapted the sketch a bit, taking my initial cue from the snowflake shape tucked behind the photos. I used that shape as a jumping off point, interpreting the blocks of patterned paper in the sketch as snowflakes. I used a die-cutting machine to cut snowflakes from yellow and gray Seen & Noted patterned papers to coordinate with the colors of my son’s winter jacket. I added three lines of stitching where the mittens hang on the sketch. A phrase card from the Seen & Noted Phrase & Journaling Cards set worked well for my title in the spot where the journaling is in the sketch, so I added journaling in the white space at the left. A gray cardstock border finishes the layout.” – Vivian Masket, Pebbles Design Team Member
