Guest Designer: Andrea Budjack and a Giveaway!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you to this week’s Guest Designer Andrea Budjack!  Let’s get to know Andrea a little better …

Describe yourself in 3 words … goofy, giving and artsy.

My guilty pleasure is … my eleven o’clock Dr. Phil.

You’ll never find me without … my flip flops.

You might be surprised to know that I … have only worn high heels once, on my wedding day.

My least favorite chore is … laundry.

I started scrapbooking in … college, oh about thirteen years ago (yikes).

My favorite thing about this hobby is
… color, that is all I need to say.

If I were a Pebbles product I would be … stickers!

“Although I do not scrapbook much, I do love mini albums.  In this album I loved the idea of adding the premade pockets and tags as pages to tuck in photos each day and a place to add a little note. “

“For me, cards and stitching go together like paper and adhesive.  As with the handmade heart embellishment, I used a variety of stickers and paper to create the quilted look.  Just fold a piece of cardstock/paper in half, but your heart and add your papers and stickers to the heart.  Trim the edge and stitch.”

“I love making layered altered items as little reminders to (as the sticker states perfectly) “live in the moment”.  With all of the amazing colors in each collection, it is a chance for me to fit as many colors onto one little piece as I possibly can. They put a big ol’ smile on my face.”

Sketchy Thursday

For today’s edition of “Sketchy Thursday” we asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Becky Fleck.

“We have a tiny little addition to our family. This sweet little guy was found this month under our deck. I thought he would be the perfect subject for the brand new Family Ties collection from Pebbles. It’s all about family and our pets are family too!”  – Kathy Martin, Pebbles Design Team Member

Family Ties Accents & Phrase Stickers (732148)

“I LOVE working with sketches!  It’s always so nice to have a starting point – because, for me at least, getting started is usually the hardest part.  I wanted to create an 8 1/2″ x 11″ layout, but I was easily able to convert this sketch to work for my needs.  Instead of having the items tilted, I chose to make them straight.  Other than that, I stuck pretty close to the sketch.  I love the little half-circle element on the bottom and I think I’ll be using that idea again in the future – that’s another fun thing about sketches – they encourage you to try things you might not think of otherwise!  :)”  – Wendy Sue Anderson, Pebbles Design Team Member

“I love going to a grid pattern for a quick & easy layout.  No photo trimming.  Just a little measuring for your pattern papers.  This summer, we went to the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz.  My husband was a skeptic before we were went.  He is still a skeptic!  Ha!”  – Mandie Pierce, Pebbles Design Team Member

“I don’t think any project could be easier than these darling mini love notes.  And they only need two products, too: the Seen & Noted 6×6 Paper Pad and the Seen & Noted Phrase Cards.  I simply popped out the sentiments from the pack, wrapped some twine around the front, and adhered them onto patterned paper and then onto a white cardstock card base with pop up foam dots.  As simple as they are, the monochromatic design really pops, and you could make lots of these in no time at all.”  – Tiffany Hood, Pebbles Design Team Member

How To Tuesday

“Today I would like to share a quick and easy gift idea. I’ve seen a few different “hoop crafts” floating around the internet, and I knew that our new Family Ties collection would be perfect for trying out my own paper crafted hoop. Follow these simple instructions to make this cute gift anyone in your family would enjoy.”  – Kim Kesti, Pebbles Design Team Member

First, grab some canvas type of fabric and a standard embroidery hoop (mine is 6 ½”). Trace a pencil line on your fabric around the outside edge of the hoop.

Place some cardstock stickers on your canvas and arrange in a cute pattern

Machine stitch the stickers in place and stitch an extra accent line (you can mark this line with a pencil, if desired. I used blue thread to match my stickers.

When  you are finished stitching, run a line of tacky glue just inside your pencil line; open your hoop and insert the canvas inside the hoop. The  glue will hold your canvas firmly in place. Let dry.

Add a few more embellishments using tacky glue to hold them in place.

Tie a ribbon bow and your hoop is finished – a sweet little gift for your loved one!

Mix & Match Monday

It’s Monday again which means we’ll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.

“Sometimes as scrapbookers we want to record an important memory, even if the photo is perfect.  This photo doesn’t look like much, but it tells a wonderful story … one of my favorites from when my son first came home from the hospital.  I’m not usually a big journaler, but on this particular layout, I really wanted the photo and the journaling to be the focus of the layout.  One of my favorite things about Pebbles products is how well they all coordinate with one another.  I bet you’d never guess that I used products from three different lines on this project!”  – Emily Spahn, Pebbles Design Team Member

“For this layout I mixed products from Seen and Noted, Walnut Grove, and Family Ties.  They all had some fun, bright coordinating colors that worked easily together to create this quick, fun page.  I love how they look on the kraft background as well.  I do occasional layouts for my own book so this was a just a fun page to document my love of coffee.” – Shawna Webster, Pebbles Design Team Member
