Holiday Cards and Gifts with Christa and Kathy

“I wanted to use more non traditional colors for this card set and decided on a dark blue background for my images.  I left the cards without a sentiment so they could be used for anyone with a personal message inside. They are small enough for gifts or a card for a gift bag too.  I hand cut the angel wings and body/dress and simply made accordion folds for the dress.  Some simple stitching and they are all complete!”  – Christa Paustenbaugh, Pebbles Design Team Member

“I really enjoyed this project and the challenge of creating a Christmas card and gift with non-traditional colors. I hope it helps demonstrate that you can use any line of paper for just about any theme you can dream up! It’s a tradition in our house to bake for the neighbors during the holidays and one of my favorite goodies to include is banana bread.”  – Kathy Martin, Pebbles Design Team Member

“When I saw the blue polka dot paper from the Seen & Noted collection I thought it looked like snow.  The rest of the project was built upon that sheet of paper.  I love the look of aqua and red together, and there are so many cute patterned papers and embellishments from Pebbles that coordinate in those two colors!  I pulled out my Cricut for this project and used the Winter Frolic and Winter Woodland cartridges for the snowman and the snowflakes.  The picture frame was black and I liked the design, so I spray painted it white.  Then I pulled it all together with lots and lots of foam dimensional adhesive.”  – Tiffany Hood, Pebbles Design Team Member

“I love the look of packages wrapped simply in brown paper, with colorful embellishments added. For these gifts, I used my die cutting machine and Pebbles patterned paper to create fun and colorful embellishments for my holiday presents. The Hanukkah set features a package with the numbers 1-8 welded together, a package adorned with a rosette with a Star of David at the center, and a package presented with a 3-D paper bow. The Christmas set features a package with a green and red ornament and a package with a stitched garland of holly leaves and berries.”  – Vivian Masket, Pebbles Design Team Member

“I love to make little gifts for friends or neighbours, but just because it is a small gift it doesn’t have to be less special! For my project today I did a small box that holds two types of chocolates and a coordinating card. I used some aqua and red from the Seen & Noted collection and mixed it with some kraft. I love that color combo for Christmas!”  – Eva Pizarro, Pebbles Design Team Member

“I wanted to make a simple project using just my trusty 6×6 Seen & Noted paper pad and some punches. I love the fun modern colors in the line, and Seen & Noted is really perfect for the holidays also! The soft aqua and bright red combo is perfect for a modern take! I cut some paper boxes from a template on my Silhouette. I used the circle punches and sewing machine to sew a garland to wrap around the gift! I added a dimensional circle “puff”, made from 6 punched circles folded together on top of a doily and glittered snowflake.”  – Nicole Nowosad, Pebbles Design Team Member

“I love the idea of giving gift certificates in something else other than a card – so instead I cut a mitten and Christmas tree shape out of cardstock, layered with some fun patterns from Walnut Grove and Seen & Noted and stitched the outer 3 edges together, leaving the bottom open to insert a gift card! Just add a tag from the Walnut Grove line and you are done! A quick and fun way to give someone special something for the holidays.”  – Nicole Nowosad, Pebbles Design Team Member

Before we get to more projects I have a winner to announce from our “Guest Designer” giveaway two weeks ago.  We apologize for not posting the winner sooner.  Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is …

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information (including your phone number for shipping purposes) to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put “Guest Designer Winner” in the subject line.

“I made two relatively simple cards for this week and let the colorful patterned paper do the talking.  I thought the Seen & Noted line was perfect for Christmas cards with it’s beautiful Reds & Blues.  I used my die cut machine on both cards adding a Snowflake to the one, and a sentiment to the other.  I love the snowflake with the sentiment ‘You’re my number one’ since no snowflake is alike, and in the card I’ll write ‘this Christmas’.”  – Laura Craigie, Pebbles Design Team Member

“Seen & Noted is one of my favorite collections from the most recent release.  Pulling out the blues and reds from the collection makes for a perfect holiday theme.  I love when I can use non-themed paper for holiday items, it makes my supplies stretch so much further.”  – Laurel Seabrook, Pebbles Design Team Member

All this week on the Pebbles blog we will be sharing holiday cards and gifts created by some of our design team members just in time for the holidays.

“I always aim to have a few small hostess gifts on hand for the many parties and gatherings that occur during the holiday season.  I thought a set of handmade tags, garland and bows would make a nice little gift set, since gift wrapping is something most everyone does this time of year!  For a festive approach to this project, I dug into my Pebbles stash and pulled out several of the red and green patterned papers I had, alongside some neutrals and a splash of light pink.  I put my holiday punches to work to add ‘a little Christmas’ to this project, that otherwise uses not a stitch of holiday themed product.  I love how all of these simple gift accessories look all packaged up in a cute reused embellishment box – I hope the recipient does, too!”  – Jaclyn Rench, Pebbles Design Team Member

“Creating holiday cards without using actual Christmas-y papers is a bit of a challenge, but I love doing it. I feel like it really stretches my supplies (not to mention, my imagination). Crafting these cards was not that difficult, I love the teal and red combination for Christmas, anyways; so, these came together quickly. By using the same card “template”, I could mix and match several patterns together and unify everything by using the same ribbon. Quick and easy, just what the doctor ordered this time of year! Happy Holiday!” – Kim Kesti, Pebbles Design Team Member
