Happy Friday everyone! We are wrapping up the week with a few “free for all” projects from some of our design team members.

Design team member Natalie Dever used the new Floral Lane collection on this sweet layout of her daughter.  Here’s what Natalie had to say … “These Floral Lane papers are the perfect compliment to the colors in this picture of my daughters big ole gabby smile!  I just love the textures and prints of these new papers!”

Pebbles supplies used:
Floral Lane Just Because (751116)
Floral Lane Warm Thoughts (751117)
Floral Lane You’re Sweet (751121)
Floral Lane Memory Lane (751119)
Floral Lane Dimensional Phrase Stickers (732054)
Floral Lane ABC Stickers (732053)
Floral Lane Button Candy Dots Aqua (747113)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock (American Crafts)

Design team member Lady Grace Belarmino created this pretty card using our new Floral Lane collection.  Here’s what LG had to say … “Giving cards is one of the easiest way to keep in touch with families and friends. Often times, others (not us who loves this craft) just send ecards or just purchase them from a store for convenience. The good thing about making your own cards is you make the receiver feel much more important. They will feel that you dedicated a significant amount of time making the card especially for them. “

Sketchy Thursday

For today’s edition of “Sketchy Thursday” I asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Becky Fleck.

Design team member Ria Mojica added an extra photo to her version of today’s sketch.  Here’s what Ria had to say … “I love the simplicity of this week’s sketch and the many possibilities it offers.  I used 2 photos and moved them off to one side and matted the group so they don’t get lost in the orange background. One of my new favorite color combos is orange and pink, which I never really thought of combining until I saw the Happy Go Lucky collection.”

Design team member Lisa Kisch shows us that Floral Lane is perfect for boys as well as girls in her version of today’s sketch.  Here’s what Lisa had to say … “Who says a line called Floral Lane has to be girly? For the sketch challenge I scrapped my new baby nephew, Clark. I took these photos at the hospital – isn’t he a doll? I wanted to use some of the yummy Floral Lane supplies, so I picked blue, teal and brown as a colour palette. Those dots are just begging to be filled with candy dots, and I obliged with both silver from the Mr. & Mrs. line, and blue from the New Addition Boy line.  I  am a sucker for ledger paper, and the You’re Sweet patterned paper not only gave me a place to write, it also made it easy to line up my letter stickers.  I sliced off the coordinating paper strip from the bottom of a few sheets of Floral Lane paper, along with a few strips of patterned paper to create a simple block in my grid. I also rolled a few of the edges for added texture and interest.  Welcome to the world, little Clark James!”

Whip It Up Wednesday

For today’s post I challenged some of our design team members to “whip up” a project using Pebbles products in 30 minutes or less. Check out these fabulous projects that can be created in no time at all!

Design team Melinda Spinks created a trio of cards in under 30 minutes.  Here’s what Melinda had to say … “Oh dear, another 30 minute challenge! I really freak out when these challenges come around because it just isn’t ‘me’ to do anything in half an hour. So, I decided that I was going to really test the scrapping skills and make three cards by using a production line method.  I drew up the designs, had the selected papers and accessories ready, and even had tools in position. For the next 30 minutes I scrapped like a madwoman and even had to fend off inquiring husband as to why things were flying in all different directions. He wasn’t used to the rush or the mess as I usually tidy as I go. Well I can honestly say I did it and there wasn’t a single second to spare and the biggest mess you’ve ever seen … took me longer to clean up than to make the projects.”

Pebbles supplies used:
Ever After Fairy Tale (751104)
Ever After Princess Tiara (751105)
Ever After Glass Slipper (751109)
Eveer After Sparkle (751113)

Other supplies used:
Card (American Crafts)
Remarks Rub Ons (American Crafts)
Ribbon (American Crafts)
Punch (Fiskars)

Design team member Eva Pizarro celebrated a milestone birthday on this fun layout.  Here’s what Eva had to say … “A few days ago I turned 30 and everybody was telling me how old I am! I don’t think I’m old but I can definitely see that I’m not a 20-something year old anymore. This layout is about those little things that make me realize I’m getting older! To stay in the 30 minute I kept the design really simple. I used most of my time matting the patterned papers and using my corner punch. To embellish the squares I used my favorite Pebbles embellishments. They are very quick to use because they are self adhesive so you just have to remove them and attached them to your layout.”

Design team member Suzanne Sergi shares a fun technique today for creating custom butterfly embellishments!  Here’s what Suzanne had to say … “I love using premade embellishments on my pages, but sometimes it can be fun to create your own unique embellishments.  With a few crafting tools, and a few easy steps, you can create a paper butterfly using a scallop punch! With all the sizes available in a scallop punch, you can get creative by making scallop butterflies in a variety of fun sizes!  I love butterflies on my papercrafts, and this technique creates a butterfly with lots of  beautiful layers! My layout is of my sweet little girl with one of her best friends. I added lots of layers of tags, and embellished them with a scallop butterfly.”

First, you will need a few papercrafting tools: scallop punches (assorted sizes), a small circle punch, fine tip scissors, and pop dots.

Next, using your scallop punch, punch two different sizes from patterned paper. Punch out a small circle out of a piece of vellum. Another idea, is to simply punch another scallop in a smaller size, and your butterfly will have three different layers of scallops.

Then curl in the outer edges of the scallops to give them added texture, and dimension. If I had used a solid paper, then I probably would have also ran them through an embossing folder for added detail.

Next, you are going to cut out a “heart” from the top, and bottom of the scallop.

Here are what the pieces will look like, when they are cut.

Next, cut a small slit onto the sides of the butterflies. You can sand off any edges that are not smooth. Next, the fun begins, layering both scallops together to create a fun embellishment for your papercrafts!

Once you have layered your scallops, you can now embellish the centers! The possibilities are endless! Here I  layered the butterfly with a  circle punched from vellum, and the rose brad from the Mr. & Mrs. Collection. The Pebbles buttons, candy dots, brads make perfect centers too!

The final detail is adding the Mr. & Mrs. stick pins for the scallop butterfly’s antennae! I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial, and create your own unique scallop paper butterflies!
